Love Adam Scott! Criminally underrated! Everyone knows he can do comedy but he’s also a hella great talent in the drama department as well. He really shines brightest when he’s playing in the middle between the two. Loved him as Ed McKenzie in Big Little Lies. That show was really good but he gave it its comic relief but in a genuine way that matched the show, not some slapstick or anything.

According to IMDB, Jon Hamm and Thomas Lennon auditioned for the role of Derek in Step Brothers. Mad Men was just starting around that time. I would guess Hamm was the one originally cast. I don’t know that for certain.
