Haven't recorded anything in a while, huh. Honestly, I've been recently burnt out of GD but I've found the modding community in Celeste and it's something that really kept me interested. I played a bunch of mods, but recently I've decided to try making something myself.
So, this level isn't anything particularly original, it's mostly my take on what a C-Side could have been. I think that the original game made the C-Sides too short, therefore limiting themselves when making certain gimmicks. Some of the vanilla C-Sides (like 5C or 8C) were lacking a lot of the features that certain chapters had. Because of that, my layout for C-Sides is a bit different:
- 5 short-ish rooms that show uses of certain objects and gimmicks
- One extra long room that's mostly a summary of all the gimmicks thrown into one
- A medium length 4 color cassette room, because I personally think these have a lot of potential and they weren't used much in the original game
Because I've playtested this level quite a bit, beating this took me only 5 deaths, but I imagine that the average person would take around ~200-ish deaths to learn how everything works. I'm not aiming for these levels to be extremely hard, but still providing at least a little bit of a challenge. It's both inspired by vanilla C-Sides and Nameguy's D-Side mod, however the D-Sides aren't for everyone because of their very high difficulty, therefore I thought about making something that's in the difficulty between these two.
This is me still just testing the waters in Ahorn, and the level may have some flaws or things the usual beginner creator forgets about, so if you have any feedback, feel free to comment under the video.
