For people that dont get the reference, the ”just monika” text is a reference to doki doki literature club, when a character called Monika deletes all the other characters and then its ”just monika” (i also know that the creator of the d-sides is named monika which makes it even better)
the ceiling pop in that area has a setup that makes it consistent, i just forgot about it when recording, because i'm not a speedrunner D: and yeah ceiling pops iirc are a 1-3 frame window depending on your position, Parrot Dash has made a pretty good video about it
@@Ezel_142 aren't they always a 1f window, it's just that the frame you need to jump changes based on subpixel? so the amount of frames you hold down before jumping varies, and the jump is always frame perfect
At 2:45, the torches can be read as one byte of binary, which just so happens to translate as "T" if yellows are 1's. Reading blue's as 1's however produces an invalid character Since you said others see it as a "cryptic puzzle" I decided to go along and test it EDIT (More findings): The spike orientation reads as "S". That's 2 letters from "JUST MONIKA".
Treating the spikes as the start of a beep in morse code and the gap after as the length, I think the ceiling has M (long long) then I (short short), and the floor would be N (long short) then A (short long). I really is looking like the room says Just Monika in the decorations. My next guess would be maybe braille in the background tiles, but I doubt it and I don't know if you can actually control that when making a map. [I tried using hyphens for the morse code but it put a strikethrough on the text] Edit: just clarifying, I initially thought it might be one letter each on the ceiling and floor, but that would give Z and Q, which doesn't really work. Also, the gap after the second ceiling spike is slightly larger, so I suspected it was a long with a small gap to end the letter. Similar for the floor, where I assumed the second spike was a short with a gap the end the letter.
I think the reason that the last room disables your dash is that mount celeste gives you the ability to dash, (pretty sure it says that in core, also that you learn how to dash in prologue) so when you leave mount celeste, you lose the ability. (similar to how badeline says in 7a ending, that madeline will not see her anymore)
has anyone tried to 'monika' on the parts that are written "just monika"? I mean... the game teaches you how to monika on one of the secrets, then tells you to "just monika" on others... does that make sense? or am I crazy?
@@RealBasil143 through mod options if you have everest enabled. Technically you can also do it on vanilla, but it requires editing your config file, and everest debug mode is generally just better as it fixes some errors
That room with the switch just feels like a bad ending, something like "After doing the impossible, what was your reward? you're all alone and you're gonna die, congrats madeline, this is your reward..."
with the new 4.0 update, we now know what the long driveway with the disabled dashes is used for (mild spoilers for the mod) it’s the post-epilogue room. you get to see the true ending when you beat 9D. good luck lmao
I understood that holding in the direction at the start of the bounce will make you go farther and there are some screens where you need to alternate yet still thought it was more rng than wavedashing
