I really like the Alnico blue, lovely sounding speaker. Mixes well too. The other conclusion I've drawn from this comparison series of videos, is that everything sounds good in your cabs, period.
A video showing the blue in one of your semi open 1x12 cabs, used with a telecaster guitar and various overdrive pedals would be amazing, great video here as usual
The first note, a low E, is the only totally clean, full range sound in the whole thing and every time it's played is through the alnico blue. Would love to have heard that note through all of the speakers. Cheers.
Yeah, I think they both come across great in these videos. Funily enough the G12-65 isn't coming across as well as I had hoped, I think it would have benefited from some eq-ing. If you get the invader let us know how you get on.
@@ZillaCabs yeah, you should make a video where you make two comparisons. One with the eq and mic placement tailored for speaker X compared to speaker Y and vice versa.
Great comparisons. From all the other Alnico speakers, it seems that it is the Cream that sounded the closest to the Blue (then I would say it's the Ruby, and last is the Gold). Is it too how it felt in the room? That's interesting, because if you like Blues but want a great 1x12 that does it all with a high power handling, it seems to me that the Cream is the way to go.
Almost (excluding the "A" type) all Celestion sounds good with a Blue.. just cannot warm up to the "A" type.. most people's "turd" (G12t-75) sounds great as well.. (personally I like the t-75) you should probably really add a pulsonic greenback also to the shootout?? however the current two greenbacks are available and a very good mix as well.. would still like to see db ratings in the stats?.. this is such a wonderful resource... I wait on the edge of my seat for these videos to come out!!! Celestion should be kicking themselves for not having done this sooner!
haha I think they like that we're doing it haha, I've got some really nice pulsonics but we ran out of time. I'll be doing a much bigger versio of this later in the year when things settle down a little. I agree too, I'm not a big fan of the A type and the t75s are a really cool speaker, especially for this kind of stuff.
We do that so you can hear the contrast of the speakers. It is nice sometimes to hear longer sections but a lot of people ask for quick changes. we try to accomodate both but sometimes in different videos. Thanks for watching.

I use headphones and I still struggle to hear any differences in these speaker comparisons. Must be my age and hearing loss. I am assuming you are changing the speaker sound to match the speaker image on the video.
Yeh alot of them are quite subtle, I only hear a greater change on the darker speakers and I'm wearing beyerdynamics dt 770 pro's but like you I've given my ears a flogging in the past!
That's right, we change the image to show the different speakers. The tonal changes become a little less obvious with lower gain and especially when the speakers are mixed but on nice monitors you can hear the difference. Thanks for watching.
