One of the best Celestion designs ever. Shines the most in open backs, in my humble opinion.
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 2 года назад
yeah you are right. Unfortunately this was a closed back, I think open back would have been better to show what it can do.

@@ZillaCabs yes I didn't say it in a bad "why didn't you do it" kind of way, just in a plain informative one. It sounded great in your particular closed back too. You know your job well.

The original G12 65 from the early 80's is the one I get when I can find them, Thankyou very much for comparing and posting this video.

Hi James, as much as I like the newer ones, the real old ones are a really nice speaker for sure!

From what I’ve heard I thought the modern 65’s compared pretty good to the originals

Laneys VC 15/ 30 are killer amps, somewhat Vox, Laney and american voiced, if that makes sense (full EL84 chime with some Laney timbre and american touch). They are excellent for vintage genres- including blues and jazz, for sure.

At lower gain these differences are less apparent. I think you need mid to high gain to make the most out of these comparisons.
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 2 года назад
Yeah, we do higher gain versions, that's why we marked this one as Low Gain....... we put these up though for players who mostly play lower gain styles, so although the difference is more subtle it is more accurate to what they would play if that makes sense. Thanks for watching.

When are we getting a demo of the Celestion neo V type?
@georgefromgreece4119
@georgefromgreece4119 2 года назад
The closest to the G12-65 Heritage timbre is the alnico ruby (blue's mellower side), then in the same ballpark as a character but a lot darker and more modern (tighter, extended bass, rolled off highs, aggressive) is the a type, if anyone cares (and agrees).

Not sure if these videos are still being made, but it would really be cool to see a speaker comparison between an F70, H Creamback, and V30. Maybe Fane F90s too if you have them.

I'm sure you have other things going on, but i for one would love to see new vids from Zilla! Maybe it's cabs and speakers matched to specific genres? Or one speaker in a bubch of different enclosures? Ps. Still absolutely love my Fatbaby with Creamback 75. Just perfect with my Marshall Studio Vintage head.

Mid freqs of this speaker are "mystical".😀

haha in a good or bad way? In actual fact I do prefer this in an open back cab and this recording was a closed back. Thanks for watching.
@whoisthenext1
@whoisthenext1 2 года назад
@@ZillaCabs very good way of course. I think they have less amount of mid-freqs in respect to the other classics like GB. For that bass freqs are more present, making this speaker more suitable in open back Cabs.

I have a g12-65 in my 65 Princeton reverb (tweed one from guitar center) and I live the sound. I bought a cannabis Rex to test out and love that too .. can you do a shootout? Love the playing !

When you guys record these speakers separately, you aren’t changing the eqs I’m assuming, leaving it exactly the same and the swapping speakers?
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 2 года назад
That's right, its not really ideal as you would re-eq each speaker but that would sort of be unfair too. In these videos I feel the G12-65 didn't come across as well as it could because of that.

now let's do a single speaker with 21 different mic placement shoot out, then 21 different mics in 21 different placements vs 21 more speakers with 21 mics in 21 different placements...21X21X21x21 = 194481 variables??? can you get the similar frequency responses and sounds from completely different sounding speakers by moving the mic around the cone...possibly?

Here's a Thought: I would really like to See a Factory Tour Video. Take your Time With it. Allow some of your Musicians to Create a Background Music: Acoustic, Blues, whatever..... , and Not Rushed. A lot of Factory Tour vids Feel RUSHED. That's a TURN OFF. Emphasis the Way you Build, your Joints, the Wood, the Various Types of CABS, Size, Shape, and then the Many varied Options of Stylizing YOUR CUSTOM ZILLA CABs. Just a Thought, but I think it would be a Strong Selling INFLUENCE POINT. All The Best...
