Hello, thanks for sharing this video. I’ve done in room, extensive tests with pulsonic, Blackback and creambacks to modern Celestion and Skumback equivalents with both “M” and “H” style speaker also in 55hz and 75HZ. To my ears I’ve yet to find any modern speakers that can beat out the vintage speakers. Not that they sound bad by any means, you can also get very very close with certain speakers but for me, I almost always prefer vintage. Thanks again for sharing, this was a very well thought out, useful video.
Superb upload. Must have taken hours to do, but so worthwhile. For me, it's vintage->heritage -> scum back (possibly as in the UK, Scumback speakers aren't well known, and I grew up listening to the original greenbacks...)
Wow! Kudos for all that hard work! Based on this, i would favor the current heritage #1, vintage h-#2, scumback at #3. In my own comparison- nowhere near as sophisticated as this i tried 3 speakers in my 1974x circuit (18 watt) and ended with- #3- heritage 55hz modern, #2- amperian vsop alnico and #1- scumback m75 LD! Very good Video! In my studio I liked the first speaker the most! Second was too vintage... Scumback near to the vintage and for me on place 2. The Rola on place 3. However they sound very near to each other. All three would give me a sort of "Greenback" sound. So in the end: Take any Greenback they all sound good...
Super interesting! I preferred the heritage overall. I've been using one in 1x12 the past month testing before I toss a pair into my 4x12, really liking the tone but was curious how it stacked up and found this video.
Initially, I wasn't going to include them, but I just recorded four Pulsonic cone G12H 55Hz tonight, to include in my 12" speaker shootout. I'll throw in a Heritage version of the same speaker for reference. It will be a MUCH better comparison than the last. Also, some Pulsonic cone G12M 75Hz Greenbacks, Creambacks, Blackbacks and a modern MIC G12M 75Hz for reference. I got a little nutty with this but I have lots of speakers and the room was already set up. lol!
