Had e x a c t l y the same experience with these two Speakers as you pictured it here in your vid! This proves your work to be very good and relaiable. Thanks.
Okay...in listening to the speaker through a headset, the 30 sounds more "brittle" when driven and thinner when mellow. The NEO is smoother overall....NEO wins for me!
The amazing difference in sound sound crystal even on low notes, and the color of the acoustic design disappeared completely. This is a new speaker with a recognizable new sound.
E. T. Hey man, you may have replaced this long ago, but i do know the silver jubilees were designed around v30 speakers so maybe stick with the v30’s with them as thats whats designed to work best with the amp, but experiment by all means mate
Nice Jimmy great tone from that budget DSL40! I have Creamback in my AC15 great speaker....took a stupid long time to break in tho. I'd fear folks would give up on it before it softened up
With the drive tone at the end of the video, the Creamback neo is very bassy compared to the Vintage 30. Combined with the rounded upper mids, it might sound more pleasant to hear alone, but I'm wondering how it will perform in a live situation, and with bass-heavy amps like Fenders, or with bass-heavy pedals like the fuzz face
Never had a chance to play through a Neo Creamback but bought one blown and rebuilt it with a G12M rebuild kit since Celestion doesn't sell the Neo Kit anymore.. Sounds damn good in my Hand wired Deluxe Reverb. But was wondering if changing the voice coil to a 25 watt coil from the original 60 watt made a change?
I think I like the Creamback from all the demos I've watched, but I think the V30 sounds better with your attack and crunch. Except I think the Creamback sounds clean.
Jim you know who Dean Zink is the tech here in MI? He biased my amp at 30ma, you dont need to be high because its all preamp distortion and the heat can cause issues down the line and burn tubes faster. Since I went back to humbuckers I noticed more low end now and still breakups as good when I was running it at 34 to 36 ma and prb less bright now. I did have a WGS british lead when he had it and I put the WGS ET 65 in new when I got it back.
You make it sound real good man lovely style. I think the creamback suits it better, something with a little more bite would be even betterer :) How do you think about this amp considering it is MIC? I am also thinking the mini silver jubilee, dont know if it is worth paying much more though.
Wow !!! Two great speakers, the speakers connected to my computer have preamplifier, so here Neo seems to be more "open" and clear, with more definition, especially in the bass when you "pushed" the drive, the V is incredible, but seems to have a sound more compressed and not as clear as Neo's. A popular word here in Brazil would define Neo: he arrives arriving ... :-)
Vintage 30 all the way. The neo may sound better clean but this is a Marshall. If you want clean tones get a fender or vox. Marshall+vintage 30+OD =killer tones.
sounds great. I have many 4x12 cabinets with Vintage 30s which are my favorite speaker. I recently purchased Fender Supersonic Twin it is over 100 pounds/ 45 kg very heavy with two Vintage 30s I would like to reduce the weight but maintain the great tone of the Vintage 30s, The G12 Neo Cream might do the trick
Richard Lee Rodgers They'll cut the weight for sure. They don't have the upper mids like the V30 but you can turn mids and treble up on the amp to get more cut.
@@nicolasbolattieberhardt1127 I think for me, I might like the Neos better. But for like classic rock riffs and high gain stuff I think the v30 sounds more crunchy. I came looking for the perfect speaker, but I'm thinking maybe it's about having options. Though I think if I were going to go v30s I'd just go for Alnico Blue 15w I think they have more of what I like about the v30s but maybe better for my sound? Hard to say. I need to experiment more with some cab simulation. I got the Captor X thing, but I'm too dumb to really get it to shine. I think that can really help with picking speakers and amps.
Cranking up those mids on the amp can help make a big difference though..i find on my dsl that between 2-3 o'clock speakers that are mid scooped have worked well doing this.. I was about to remove a celestion A type speaker until i tried it and works nicely
Im going to re try the stock again its similar to a greenback, the ET is a bit warm and I like the celestion bite. Jims stock amp sounded best for me. It takes 120hrs to break in according to Scumback speakers
Nice playing! Wouöd it be good idea to combinate those two speakers in a 4x12 in a X order? I have a Marshall 4x12 and i am looking for a "greenback" type Speaker to combinate. This one handles more watt than a greenback Greets from germany Stay tuned
Hi Jim , i'd like you to compare the neo creamback with a creamback 65m just to compare the difference..it just seems to me anyway that the small magnet on the neo just wouldn't give it enough bottom end?
Thanks for the comparison Jimmy..just awesome ! I already have the creamback 65 in my dsl 40c and its just great..Im guessing the neo and it's quality that it doesn't flub out at higher volumes ?
Very familiar with v30’s but these speakers sounds so good. The neos. Warmer. Less scratchy. What would be the difference tone wise between the neo 60-65-75
I thought that was Marty Friedman for a minute! So you would recommend the Creamback for Heavy music as well? I want to keep the somewhat vintage vibe and even though I mostly play harder music, I want a good, well rounded speaker for 40C. What would you recommend? Thanks!
I wouldn't recommend the creamback for heavy metal or heavier really...it's not made for that sound...you would be better off with the V30 ..the creamback is more of a classic marshall vibe speaker with a grainier feel and looseness
Thanks for the response! I’ve researched speakers until I’m blue in the face. You’ve helped me narrow it down between the Neo and G12M-65. I really like that =W= Blue Album “crunch” and want to get the closest sound with my Les Paul.
Think the stock sounds more brown, im liking it back in mine so far I get some fat juicy mids and top end with a lower bias. I dont know it just sounds warmer then it was originally when it was new with the high bias and the amp not broken in. Will see if i get the funds to try a cream;) Did you record this any different?
Considering a vertical setup mated to the Orange CR120H: Orange PPC212V open back w/ neo cresmbacks or 2 Orange PPC112C 1X12 v30 closed back Which would you favor?
Looking to downsize to a 2x12 and really between the Orange v30 loaded or neo-creambacks. What in the room sounded better for more aggressive style like Bad Religion type stuff...
If it helps at all, I've just replaced H75s with Neos in my 1x12 and 2x12 cabs. I play typical Marshall crunch sounds and the Neos seem to articulate the Marshall snarl better - it's present in spades but not spiky (like, say a V30). If I was playing mega gain metal or super cleans I may stick with the H75s which I hear as being faster spelers, ,but for mids the Neos are fantastic. I have compared wiht my old Blackback Greenback M25s and the Neos are closer to those than the Creamback M65 speakers are. I'll make an H vs Neo vid when I get a minute.
If it helps, Pete Thorn has raved about these too and has even said that he's considering a custom cab for his signature Suhr amp with Creamback Neos instead of the original spec H12 75s.
