Celestion's Creamback speakers are amongst the most popular speakers that we use in our cabs, but they tend not to be used mixed together. In this H creamback vs Neo Creamback shootout video we demonstrate how they sound together in a variety of different styles and amps.
To do this we recorded both speakers in an identical 1x12 setup, same mics, mic placements, amps and settings by re-amping the same scenario through several different styles.
We love to hear your thoughts on anything speaker related, if you've used this pair before or the individual speakers, or if you have any suggestions please get in touch.

The creambacks are some of the best speakers Celestion ever made imho. It's interesting how much the Neo sounds in between the H and the M, but closer to the H, I believe. Also the Neo is probably the most Greenback sounding of the three, as it has this pulsonic nasal quality. Thanks for the video!

I'm quite intrigued by the Neo, I think it had a tad more high end sparkle compared to the H which sounded a bit more focused. I see from this month's Guitarist mag, that Fender have used one in their new 68 Custom Pro Reverb amp: the Guitarist review says they really like the Neo and described it as blending the low end thump of 60s Greenbacks with the complex treble of an Alnico Gold. Interesting!

That's really cool. I would say normally the H cream has a bit more top end than the neo but the neo's top end is really nice, plenty going on but nto too bright if that makes sense. Was it Jamie Dickson that did the review? I know he loves a gold.

Interesting fact, the NEO Creamback can take a G12-H or M recone kit. I bought a blown NEO Creamback from Ebay and for some reason Celestion told me they discontinued the rebuild kit.. They suggested the M or H Greenback I think I bought the M and it worked and sounds killer.. Now The question that never was answered by Celestion is did this change the Wattage handling of the speaker from 60watt to 25watt? Sounds fantastic in my Hand built 65 Deluxe Reverb.

Loving the focus on creambacks!!! One of the the best most underrated speakers around. All versions of the creamback are incredible. Its great to see them finally get some love and appreciation! The speaker I've been interested in recently though is the neo V-type. Not many sound clips or comparisons of that one at all.
@ZillaCabs

Thanks for that, that is really cool. The neo v type is really cool, and Im not a big fan of the normal V type. We should have a couple of videos coming out soon on that one.

Love my Creambacks 75's.. They are best of all speaker worlds in one. I recently paired two with two Greenbacks and they play great together. But by themselves they are great.

They compliment each well in the mix. Cleans they are very close to me. Add the gain and the Neo just is to crispy (some would say fizzy) and lacks body for me.

Yeah its really cool and I'm not normally a big fan of the Vtype, its just not my thing (although I do appreciate it). We will have a few videos coming out on the neo vtype in the next month or so.

From what I’ve heard so far I think Neo is what I’m looking for to my Katana 50. I really like the at clear and focused sound without a lot of muddy base.

Man, I was hoping I wouldn't notice the difference from the Neo to the H. It ain't much but it's there. Thing of putting the H in my Vox AC4C1-12. Guess I'm moving a transformer too...

Could you do a comparison of alnicoblue&greenback vs alnicocream&cream back? I feel like I want the former but the extra wattage handling of the 2nd might come in useful and it seems they're the higher wattage versions of those speakers?

The Neo seemed a little more ringy in the mids, the CB75 seemed and little tighter int he lows and highs. On the more distorted tones, the Neo seemed to lose its focus a little … likely due to the slightly lower wattage handling. *it would help greatly if the same riffs were played on each speaker*
@leosun8469

That Neo starts to sound more like a V30 as more distortion is added.
@nicholastotoro7721
@nicholastotoro7721 3 года назад
The Neo Creamback seems to have a lot of the V30's tendencies, just tamed a smidge. The H really seems like it would be great on its own or with a mix.

@@ZillaCabs to me it doesn't sound good. The H is way better. I was just about to buy the neo cream when I thought I would check a couple of videos about it. Glad I didnt buy it already. Gonna try the vtype instead.

@@ZillaCabs Yeah in this video, the Neo is incredibly fizzy. There's a prominent sizzle/static riding on top of the sound it produces. The H sounds light years better to me.
@AngryMuffinMusic

@@ZillaCabs I think it is known for that actually. And to me, its fizzy and hyped in pretty much every clip i've heard. No low mids richness, nasally treble and fizz...like a v30 honk but softer, more gentle. I think it can work with certain amps that need that profile though.
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 9 месяцев назад
@@AngryMuffinMusic I don't really pay much attention what speakers are known for, just what they sound like to me and our customers. I've never heard that description of the speaker before and I've never seen it as a fizzy speaker, and I've used it on probably a few hundred recordings. You have to remember when it comes to speakers, everyone has different tastes and hears speakers differently. I much rather read comments like yours with some context than the first comment with no subjectivity.
