As a Celtics fan, I think the strength of Boston is its ability to absorb injuries due to having multiple guys. Everyone said "Boston needs KP to win the Finals", but KP was injured for most of the Finals and Boston still won convincingly. This team has so much talent that's spread out across so many players that they can afford an injury and still be a great team. It's also hard to gameplan for Boston. They don't have one clear cut #1 guy that you can home in on (as Boston did to Luka). If you throw everything at Tatum, Brown will go off. If Brown and Tatum are both smothered, then Jrue or KP or even Old Man Al will step up to deliver. Add into that some roleplayers with confidence (how many teams would let a guy in Pritchard's position take a half-court shot like that?) and this is a team that's hard to beat and hard to plan for.

I think JJ would have been better served with the Pistons. There's 0 expectations there, all you need to do is win 15 games to not be as terrible as Monty Williams. The West is very brutal - For most teams, not the Lakers. The Lakers can beat any team, sans Denver. Denver is just a matchup problem for them. Minnesota I would say is a toss up, but after that that’s literally it. Mavs - No, lol. Thunder - Never lol. Clippers - Are cooked, it’s Kawhi. Suns - No way on Earth, can they even get past the 1st or 2nd round anymore? Lakers just need to be Top 6 & all bets are off. West is wide open next year

The easy road they should be talking about is the Mavs -oldest team in the league (LAC) > 2nd youngest team in the league (OKC) > inexperienced team that spent all their energy to beat the champs (MIN). I'm pretty sure LeBron was asked but he doesn't make the final decision on the hire, an what franchise wouldn't run it past their superstars on a coaching decision you think kobe or Jordan wouldn't have a say on who they wanted as their head coach, the only difference is they already had a hall of fame coach when they were playing so they didn't need a coaching change

It's just how bad they are without their "best" player.. and Indiana didn't go down 3-0 and Tyrese got hurt... he got hurt in game 3 if I'm right, then they lost and lost again when he didn't play in game four.. and for anyone saying those teams had given up then I think it's bad they lost a game to 2 different teams with such bad players.

I don't think history has anything to do with the present status of the league and I don't think it's even a remote question the West is better. The Spurs stink, yet they have Wemby. The Grizz stunk, and they have Ja coming back. The Blazers might be the only legit bad team in the west next year. Compare that to the East. Detroit, Washington, Toronto, Charlotte and Brooklyn all stink with almost no hopes of getting better. Atlanta is trying to rebuild and Chicago, well if they were in the west they'd probably be the second worst team in the league and they'll likely get another play in spot in the east next season. Look at the top of the league. Especially building on young teams with some playoff success, all of OKC, Dallas and Minny are expected to be improved and Denver is still top notch. It leaves a team like the Lakers with AD and Bron who with a little luck could be a top 3 team in the east will likely be battling in the playin in the west.

As it stands, I don't see any daylight for UTA any time soon, so you might be underselling how many teams might be bad in the West besides POR. Rockets could also be fighting GSW to stay out of the cellar, again, depending on what the latter do, but it's going downhill quickly. The east might have a lot of bad teams, but that's because it's top heavy; take the top 5 in the East and you'll find 2 champions from the last 5 years -MIL and BOS-; do the same in the West, and it's only DEN in the top 5. I think this Finals result proved that competitiveness is relative; DAL having long series against OKC doesn't mean the Thunder are ready to challenge for a title. If anything, it proved DAL, and the teams they beat, were not as strong as they appeared to be.

The reality is that when you place basketball you all have to do the same things. Dribble, pass, shoot, set picks, rebound, and etc. In football you have a much more compartmentalization of skills. That is why it is tougher to translate playing to coaching. You also have more players, more individual phases, and success depends more heavily on the coach than any one player.
