For the short version of this very VERY long essay, scroll all the way down, if not then enjoy my experience explaining with this behemoth of a model: I have in game experience with this tank and I usually just go against my friend who is death guard (I play Salamanders) and he has a LOT of meltagun squads so here is my in depth review of this bad boy in combat: I have a 2,500 list and this is my lord of war for said list. I run a very unconventional army that is dominated by armor and dreadnoughts with only 2 tactical squads of 10 units and 1 terminator (cata) squad of 5. It’s easy to say that I use a very defensive army given most of my weapons are high damage and low range, since I use the melta lance for my leviathan and melta and heavy flamer for my contemptor. My 2 vindicator’s, (one with magna and the other with dreadhammer) are usually what I use to deter his dreadnoughts and armor but they are also usually the first to go. The Cerberus was a GAME CHANGER when it played its first game. I moved it maybe 3 times and it just had to sit in the corner of the map (48” btw.) For quick context, before I got this , I was having a massive power struggle with my buddies kratos tank due to its heavy armor and advantage of range. There was one game where I tabled him minus his kratos and I had a leviathan, a contemptor, and a terminator squad of 4 lefts plus 8 tac marines left. AND I ALMOST LOST. IT TOOK ME 3 TURNS TO TABLE HIM AND THE ONLY WAY IT HAPPENED WAS THAT HIS FLASHBURN SHELL GOT HOT AND KILLED ITSELF BECAUSE THE KRATOS HAD 1HP LEFT. For reference I had 2 terminators left after the game ended. We were fairly new and were played for points not objectives. Then the Cerberus comes along and in just the blink of an eye, explodes the kratos 3 times over with a 5, 6, 6 on the post penetration roll with all 4 shots at least taking a hull point away. The explosion also took his entire tactical squad next to it as well. After that I was convinced that the Cerberus was going to be a key model for a very very long time. Even after it got immobilized, it only got penetrated once due to the flashburn he hurled at me the turn prior to killing his kratos. It would go on to last the rest of the game unharmed and we ended up running out of time in the store so no one got tabled. However I took out more points by almost double so I took the win easily, with the Cerberus racking up almost all of the points in damages caused to him. I am forever thankful of this absolute beast and hope it continues to do great and perform as it should as a tank hunting beast. (SHORT VERSION): overall one of if not the best additions to my 2,500 point list. I can’t recommend adding it to anything below that however as that would be more than 1/4 of your army if lost plus the fact that tanks go fast on unlucky die rolls in Horus heresy. Although, it is a must have if your opponent is running a dreadnaught/heavy armor list and can easily go toe to toe with multiple targets unscathed given you play it right. My specs: Pintail mounted melta for emergency close range anti armor/ terminator use if they get too close. Sponsoon mounted volkite: for when infantry get too close. Salamanders get a -1 needed on the wound roll for volkite, melta, plasma, and flamer weapons so the 6 shots per culvirn + 2 needed to wound is a blessing against support squads that come too close to the sun. In conclusion, the best anti armor that is affordable under 3k point lists (cough cough Falchion) and for what it is, it is 100% a game changer. Final report: 96/100

I agree with you on the back, we got a heavy armor door option for the sides but nothing for the back, major weakness in combat terms

I need one. This and the Typhon are just the Land Raider Ares 10k years early

Lovely looking tank! Probably right about the box size issue, though when it comes to which model would they display on the box cover of a combined kit, the same could be said of the vindicator kit which just shows the demolisher version on the front rather than the laser destroyer.

That’s a good point however even though they share the same chasis one is called cerberus and one typhon so deemed separate unlike the others such as vindicators, predators, land raiders and kratos.

True, though I reckon since they do this for 40k units like the baneblade kit where all 8 distinct variants are now in the one box, it's less likely to be that reason and more likely just not having room in the box, as it just seems simpler. Who knows though, James Workshop sure makes some strange decisions sometimes!

Great looking model. I like it much better then the Typhon. The Neutron Laser Battery however ist a tough one. Feedback and Gets Hot means it is in great danger blowing itself up during a game.

It’s always been like that mate for the past decade only the Typhon used to be way better than it is now with a 48inch range

I imagine the rear armour is weaker because even if its the same armor plate the thing inside must be more fragile, whereas transports have more safety systems

But that doesn’t explain predators and rhinos. Considering they are the same chassis AND a LOW choice they should have AV 14, they used to.

Shouldn't have been a lord of war.

Very overkill tank for regular games i think. Not gonna need it in a 2000 pt army game.
@Sup3rSaiy3n

Primarchs are more overkill and only cost slightly more. There is a risk taking these expensive units and that is once your opponent kills it that is 20% of your force gone. I would say 10 lascannon marines is more overkill.

Yeah but overkill is kinda what makes it fun
