I fly with my good friend Roelie Van Reenen in 2 Cessna 182s and a V-35 V Tail Bonanza to Namibia for a 4 day NAC Flyaway. On the first day one of the 182s experienced and intermittent alternator failure over the desert. Then another 182 crashed on landing at our destination.

My name is Claud Bosch. I am the owner of the C182 registration V5-WOT which my wife Glenda had an accident with at Namibia Lapa Lange Lodge NAC fly-in on 8 May 2023. Although I was still in the air on my way there I have various witnesses who actually saw the crash who can confirm my statement below. I am absolutely annoyed by the redicilous b..sh..t communicated in the above video. As you can see the tail of WOT is totally intact hence it did not have an “under power” drop on the runway. Peter Keil an engineer with 40 odd years experience, who also maintained the aircraft, Pieter de Lange the owner of the Lodge and Basil Smith, both very experienced pilots can attest to the accident as they were whatcing the landing from the hanger at the end of the runway. I cannot believe the comment from the prick in the black T-shirt. After being concerned about her first approach with the wind condition and uncomfortable she elected doing a go-around as a junior pilot. When she was landing WOT experienced a heavy cross wind gusts which just before touch-down pushed the aircraft horisontally off the runway. Wongs level according to the eye witnesses. So maybe she was rattled. The wings only touched the ground during the accident. I do not know who the ass..le is who saw the drop, tail hit and nose wheel hit, prop strike etc from more than 800 m. What amazes me most is that Kerry fully supported Glenda and insisted on having a interview with Glenda two days later and then only to post this blasting video. I am totally pissed off Kerry for you posting this video in such a manner without having seen the accident yourself.

Claud, thanks for posting your comments. They concisely explain the severe crosswind induced incident tbat was quite probably exacibated with a local rapid formed dust devil / willy willy on the back of the downdraft/turbulence from the proceeding airplane. Glad everyone was safe.

I wasn't there either but I suggest the thing was well above idle power on contact, going by the forward bent in the blades.

That first C182 has a pre existing fuel/mag problem.

I live a 100 Nautical miles northeast from where that accident happened and that Bonanza belonged to a friend who lived 20 Nautical miles south of my farm.

Enjoyed your videos focusing on Namibia. Beautiful country. Had a bit of problem understanding the accents. Also enjoyed proofreading your book.

This battery problem was a bad omen. I am not superstitious or a big believer in luck, but I might have been looking for another aircraft to take on the trip.

Darn the c182 is my favorite airplane, Nice and roomy compared to the c-172 and most of the lighter piper products.

Fancy flying a single engine aeroplane over that baron countryside!
@asya9493
@asya9493 Месяц назад
Statistically you will have a single engine complete failure every 10,000 hours. After that you have the forced landing in in this case flat terrain. The biggest risk is a partial failure (much more common) and a drift down but then using a defective engine to fine tune the landing point and not shutting it down at 500' and gliding in.

Hey Kerry.. I have been following you every time you fly, especially when you were doing ferry flights with Cory Bengtzen and your daughter in Brazil.. What are you doing in South Africa/ Namibia??

I was invited to be the keynote speaker for the annual NAC Flyaway. It was an amazing experience with some of the best pilots I've ever had the privilege to fly with! Stay tuned, the next 3 videos have some of the best footage I've ever shot!

The C182 V5-WOT looks like it contacted the ground really hard! Undercarriage destroyed and right wing strut broken. Some prop blades bent forward, indicating prop strike with power up. Just my observation from the picture.

Dude, that airplane is fu**ed up! I can see why you thought it was an RG, they are for sure retracted, lol. It looks like the Twin Comanche after we crashed! Great interesting video, you just don't see this stuff everyday.

That was Beech 1900 turbo-prop the non-flying staff rode in on. You should have seen the dust cloud it kicked up when it took off.

You should not have any part of the crash, especially being part of the fllyaway.

Jeez man, i bet there's hardly any traffic there in Namibia hey? The airport looks decent though, I gotta say. Tarred too!
@NeilBeukes

Assuming the airport they took off from ? It's Upington in South Africa. Go read up about the history. Really interesting. Got one of the longest runways in the world 👌
