This bike with it's spec is an absolute no brainer!! KTM engine, Bosch electronics with 6-axis IMU, top of the range equipment for quite a lot less than everyone else! Damn fine bike.

Hi Mark,I’ve been waiting for you to get your hands on this to bring us a UK real world full review. As I suspected your report doesn’t disappoint.. a top job from your good self showcasing a very interesting model. Not perfect but amazing VFM,I suspect we’ll be seeing plenty of MT800’s on Britains roads. I’m hoping you’ll be doing a long term test on this one.

Good review. I have one of these. I think it performs brilliantly for its price point and features as standard. For Australia anyway. A side note, I think people get confused between jerky or a responsive throttle. It holds its speed with no hunting at all at any speed. It is responsive which makes a touring bike even more fun and flexible. I love mine.
@motorsforthemasses
@motorsforthemasses 9 месяцев назад
Yes, I think you are right but I do understand the the jerkiness can be frustrating if holding at SUB-30MPH but then perhaps riding in a lower gear to keep the revs higher.

Cracking review bud , I currently have the Tiger sport but have been considering changing to the new Tiger 900GT pro , but then this caught my eye and I must say it's a real contender and at the moment for £9200 with free topbox and panniers it's a no brainer really, thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍🏼

I have had mine for about three days so far, with about three hundred miles on it, taking a break today, but I really like mine, has a couple of quirks, but what does not, once I get use to everything, it will be just about perfect. I am coming from the cruiser world, Suzuki Volusia, and the Suzuki C90. This is a different riding style but I like it, bike is very Flickable compared to my cruisers. 6:31

What a brilliant review, thanks. The slow (below 15mph) jerkiness does worry me a bit, I wonder how it would handle a u-turn or slow manoeuvre if you needed to do one, or filtering through traffic at 10mph max. But certainly worth a look at.
@fabianbuserell8609
@fabianbuserell8609 Год назад
I have bought this bike 4 days ago. Yes it is jerki at low speeds. But if you use your clutch it is superb in handling tight turns and filtering! The bike itself is very very stable and nicely balanced. The clutch feels amazing because it also comes with a slipper clutch.

I was one of the people that commented the first video, and said I'd probably go for the Transalp. I still think I'd do that, but I'd certainly test ride the 800MT ( providing I could find somewhere localish to get a test ride ) In my first comment, I forgot about the cruise control, which the Transalp doesn't have ( not overly bothered about the other stuff that the Tranalp doesn't have, as you could put them on as extras. I do love the look of the 800MT, but still not sure it would be a reliable as the Honda, and how that 4 year guarantee would work out in reality, by which, I mean whether you'd have to have a lot of dealer services to keep it.
@chrispekel5709
@chrispekel5709 Год назад
Probably right, it is a KTM
@michaeljohndelmundo4741
@michaeljohndelmundo4741 Год назад
i always find it interesting that people always say "i'd probably go for the transalp/800DE as i can get all the accessories/options that the 800MT has as an add-on" as if you can get the add-ons for cheap. yes, the street version is not a bang for the buck contender, but the touring is untouchable at sub 12,000 GBP. the transalp and the 800DE starts at 9,500 and 10,500 respectively. you probably need an additional 4-5 grand (including labor) to add all the options the 800MT has (centerstand, heated grips, heated seats, cruise control, tyre pressure monitor, up/down QS, 2x USB sockets, 12v socket, hand guards, adjustable clucth/brake levers, bluetooth connectivity, built-in bike locator via CFMOTO app, bashplate, crashbars, luggage racks, steering damper, fog lights, fully adjustable front suspension and adjustable wind screen). by then we are talking about a different price range than the 800MT. the reliability of the bike is maybe the only valid concern for it. but since the 800MT has literally the same LC8c as the KTM 790's, im a bit more at eased that it can last a bit longer than expected.
@Jaffa1951
@Jaffa1951 Год назад
@@michaeljohndelmundo4741 I guess that you don't agree with me then but, for me, at least, I don't need a lot of that other stuff, and things like the hand guards, USB socket ( I'm not sure the Transalp doesn't't come with that ) and F&R guards are pretty easy to add yourself. Tyre pressure monitors ( some people that get these on bikes and cars are always complaining that they keep going off due to cold and warm tyres altering the pressure. ) Apps, blue tooth connectivity, heated seats, I'm not really interested in. I would like the quick shifter ( which I believe is about £180 to get installed, ( and some dealers are throwing this in for free ) I do agree with you on Cruise Control though. And, I like the 4 year warranty ( sounds great ) However, not too sure how far I'd have to take it to get the servicing done to keep that warranty. Suppose it depends on your location, and how many CFMOTO dealers there are around. Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near Norfolk.
@michaeljohndelmundo4741
@michaeljohndelmundo4741 Год назад
@geoff newman its not that i dont agree with you picking the transalp/800DE over the 800MT, its your statement about putting all the extras on the them as if its that easy/cheap to do so. I get that you personally dont need some of the stuff that you mentioned, but lets be honest, if the transalp came with all of these options out of the factory, at the pricepoint of the 800MT touring or even just under 13,000 gbp, it would be considered an automatic bike of the year candidate on honda's reputation alone; even if it hasn't been ridden by anyone outside of pampered journo's in an controlled setting. In reality though, a transalp spec'd to your want/needs won't even be close to sub 12,000 gbp with a 4 year warranty. It will be close to 13,000gbp with a voided warrany as you would have to drill, weld and splice to mount the stuff you want to put into the bike. The warranty can vary on your area, but CFMoto's are being sold/maintaned by KTM dealer's in several parts of the world. I have never heard anybody complain not getting maintenance/service from KTM dealers. Now an argument can be made that KTM and other euro bikes are not as bulletproof as japanese ones, but even you have to admit they aren't rubbish either. I mean if we do get into detail, we can barely call this bike a "China bike". The Engine is Austrian designed built by chinese to european standards/tolerances in a plant built specifically for them, the ABS and EFI are from Bosch, the brakes are from Spain, the KYB suspension is from Japan and the overall bike design is from Kiska. At the end of the day, it is your own money and you spend it the way you want. But lets be open to the possibilities the 800MT generates. I know it's still early, but this can very well be like the late 60s/70s when cheap well equipped Japanese bikes started to arrive. They were ridiculed by a lot of people, especially by the established brand (truimph, Benelli, etc.) but 10-15 years later its the Japanese that were dominating and more than half the established brands were out the door.
@Jaffa1951
@Jaffa1951 Год назад
@@michaeljohndelmundo4741 You make some very good points there. Don't get me wrong. I love the look of the 800MT, and I'd love to see it sell really well. This might get the Larger manufacturers like Honda etc to give us all some of those 'extras' which are on the 800MT and others, as standard, like "comfort seats' ( which should be part of the original spec ) or heated grips and a fair few other things. I think the Taransalp will, probably, be this years 'Bike of the year' and perhaps the 8000MT should be able to give it a challenge, although I'm not convinced this will happen. It'll be interesting to see how the resale values compare over the next few years. I think it will be governed by the amount of sales both models get, and spares availability. It was interesting what you said about KTM dealers carrying out the servicing - I hadn't thought of that. Let's hope that happens in the UK.

The 'whistling' at higher speeds appears to be a known issue as others on a video by chaseontwowheels have indicated. the workaround is to set the stock screen to mid or low position and on a 'wind deflector' on top.

I changed my screen to a 50mm taller screen and I noticed the whistle is gone,, I'm convinced it was coming from the mounting holes in the OEM screen,. The new screen has caps over the mounting bolts hence no wind passing through. @@bikramjitganguly
