You described my own experience with chaqi: comfortable, relaxed, feeling very pleasant. I don't understand the fixation with getting "tea drunk" as if that is some kind of badge of honor. Nice video, Jeffrey.

Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback. Yeah there is a weird social perception around what is tea drunk. For myself at the end of the day I’d rather have a more comfortable and relaxed feeling. Glad you experiencing a similar affect, you must be drinking some good teas 😄

Interesting discussion. I get very jittery and anxious if I drink too much coffee and restless due to caffeine. If I have a shen session I feel very relaxed and chilled. If I've been having panic attacks it settles my mind and body. Not sure about Cha qi but I sure find it relaxes me.

Altitude, and first spring pickings help as well. Also cha qi describes the essence of the tea, using less leaves with longer steep times can help. Puerh is a category of its own, but other teas I find can have a good impact on the nervous system. Plus diet can affect your mood, eating an oily diet such as fast food, can negatively impact the ch qi, the oils will convert in to sugars.

Great video and reflections. For me, being tea drunk is a pleasant, carefree, and open feeling. But it's very different with different teas: a sencha might profoundly invigorate, while old arbor leaves give a resounding centeredness. A manic anxiety feeling, of any degree, I've come to associate with teas that I cannot confirm the cleanliness or quality of. On the final point, for some unknown reason, shou is the one tea I can definitely drink before bed.

Thanks for sharing some of your reflections, ripe is usually always a great option for the evenings. So many different tea experiences to discover

I get it most from ripe and aged white tea. It's not consistent, and seems hit or miss (even within the same batches). I had a ripe the other day that was borderline sedating and it made me extremely hungry afterwards. I rarely eat in the mornings and I found myself snacking heavily after the session. I try not to seek out the cha qi and just let it happen when it does.

Nice! I have gotten relaxed feelings from drinking a lot of puerh but a lot of the time, I think it's just an overdose on caffeine, dizziness and sweaty, rather than calm. Difference also on how people from western background view cha qi, Great channel too, your video on sourcing puerh from China was great. In the end cha qi should be a good feeling.

Yeah it’s hard to put your finger on it at first then when you experience a really good pu-erh it becomes easier like you experienced. Thanks for watching and sharing!

When you adding water to the gaiwan more than one circle, you are telling the person you are drinking tea with, you want him/her leave. That’s why using a gooseneck kettle easy to lead you to this kind wrong movement in Chinese tea. 😅😅😅 please show the correct tea culture.
