He's definitely smart at articulating what he needs to convey but also good at causing controversy over crazy statements that would cause viewers to think otherwise of him. I'm sure thats part of the method to his madness.

This was a great interview... wow, this Sonnen guy impresses me time and time again. I used to think he was just an asshole but he's actually a really smart guy.
in a street fight, even if youre on top, youre at great risk of that guys friend kicking your head clean off, chael. and on an unrelated note, undoubtedly, parkour is the word's greatest self defense system.
@krnk4life You're welcome man. These are just a facts besides that I think that he is one of the most colorful personalities in MMA today. People just take him way to serious. Hes trash talk is hilarious and a great promotion. He knows exactly what he is dooing when runs his mouth. He is damn good fighter too. Can't wait to see the Stann fight. @SuperKrazo thanks for the info, I didn't remember it. Anyway, for example Randy has almost so many losses as wins as well, and nobody doubts of his level. Sonnen has no jits, whateva, that's his problem.
I dont disagree with Chael too often but when the guy on bottom is going for subs and the guy on top is defending without advancing position or doing damage, You have to give the points to the guy on bottom...That is one of the few problems with judging IMO
About the back part: BJJ guys prefer to be on their back, Wrestlers prefer to be on top. Anderson Silva prefers to be on his back thats for sure. Anyway good luck to Sonnen great MMA fighter, maybe the best in the world right now. :)
@cthun934 this interview is not a new one, i believe this and his other interviews like this were before his fight with nate marquart i believe... definately at least a year old tho
@mbauer08 I think it's goin a bit far to say that he "wouldn't be relevant." His trash talk make for a good buzz on the net but his prominence in the UFC comes from his performance. He's ALWAYS fighting against fighters ranked in the top ten and he's dominant even in the fights he loses.
But what about the fights where you have wrestlers 'hug' their opponent with fail takedowns the entire round and finally get ONE. and wins the round ...
@woohay cant get beat up if you arent even there. parkour has the best likelihood of successful self defense against both armed melee attackers and multiple attackers in a modern setting. i dont think theres anything wrong with what i said. if you want to DEFEND yourself, thats what i think the best bet is. if you want to win fights, i suggest guns.

I like Chael, but I really wish he wouldn't talk shit about half of my favourite fighters... I'm still on his side 99% of the time when he's fighting someone (I wanted him to beat Silva even) but he annoys me when he opens his mouth to pass judgement on other fighters.
@p4l3rm0 if he was that intelligent, why when he said he lost 10 times to submission, he went and studied mental toughness, i think he should of been studying submission defence and then maybe anderson wouldnt of got him to and he would be champion right now ! Chael also thinks fedor is 3 and 2 and hes pride record is fake and doesnt count because the opponents where to easy and the match ups where staged !
You guys need to chill the fuck out. First of all testosterone is NOT a roid so get some knowledge before you'll start the roid spam all over again. Second - high testosterone level is NOT giving you ability to absolutely dominate the best P4P fighter in the world for 5 rounds. Third - he made a mistakes and took the punishment for them without beeing crybaby - he took it like a man. He was suspended for over a 1,5 year so he paid his dues....
