Im legit learning chain fishing for the first time. Wish me luck. Hunting shiny gorebyss from Y's route 12. At a 5% chance to find gorebyss, and needing to get it as my shiny since i was told getting a shiny resets the odds, ill be there a while See you in 10 years...probably still without it lmao

Your chain maxes out at 20, at which point your odds are maxed at 1 in 96, so slightly more common than a 1% pokemon appearing in an area. Your chain doesn't break when you find a shiny. Just a Pokémon that is 1/96 won't pop up again and again. Not hating, but this is useful information that has popped up in recent times

jake skelton My 1st Random Encounter of a Shiny Poke is from Pokemon Leaf Green's Safari. It was a Shiny Chansey! At first i thought it was a Gitch but my cousin told me that it wasnt a glitch and it was a shiny one! Its hard to catch a Chansey but I got her :-) Best Shiny Encounter Ever!

This is the first time that I've ever caught an actual wild Shiny Pokemon that wasn't the set Red Gyarados. Thanks for sharing this, it helped me a lot. Caught two Shinies in under half an hour on Route 21. Shiny Basculin (Red Stripe) and Shiny Poliwhirl.

Just caught a Shiny Luvdisc! Broke a pretty good chain the first time but I tried again and got one :) I think this is my first shiny I've ever gotten without trading in Pokemon X. I remember my very first shiny besides the Red Gyarados in my Silver game was a Shiny Magikarp in Sapphire. I unfortunately lost that shiny due to data corruption issues.

For the fist time ever, I got a Shiny that wasn't Gyarados!! Last night, I fished for maybe 20 minutes and suddenly got a Shiny Poliwhirl!! I might never use him but I'm still happy I caught a Shiny. If you put a Pokemon with the ability suction cups at the front of your party, it will result make sure you always reel in a Pokemon which is why he had an Inkay feinted (it wouldn't be able to run away so many times if it weren't feinted)

I recommend you get into a battle with the Pokémon then close for sleep mode . You won't break the chain. Leave ur Ds on charge. Have fun and good luck

I’m still working on obtaining a shiny, this gave me lots of good tips. Would chains break if a different pokemon bit on? For example, I got 5 chain Relicanths before a Clawitzer bit. But I followed all the tips, didn’t move, was in a location trapped by 3 rocks, had a pokemon with Sticky Hold (and just in case, got another with Synthesis) in the front

Started out with a chain of 41 on Route 21, without a single shiny. Then read about doing the Fishermans challenge (Fishermans Shack, Route 16) first before encountering shinies, so I did that just in case (easily chained 8 to break his record) obtained the Dive Balls from him, went back to Route 21 to chain for Shiny Dratini. Got a chain of 12 and got a Shiny Poliwhirl instead but still caught it :) Don't know if clearing the Fisherman "Genius" challenge was required or if it was just by chance but still. Now to continue for that Shiny Dratini :D Thanks for the guide!

So when your chain fishing what you are actually doing is basically tapping into your actual game software for the shiny code and keep pushing it up closer and closer even if chain breaks its still moved upward and game still tags it. So when you pull the shiny code upward in the data of the game and then you breed using the Mesuda Method its almost impossible not to get a shiny considering its non stop encountering and it works every time.

I've had so much success with chaining. I've caught 15 shiny remoraid (4 in one sitting). my longest chain was 236 without a shiny. I've caught almost every fishable pokemon in Y except chinchou, basculin and dratini but since dratini's odds are like 5% I don't think i'll try for it anytime soon

I've got just one question for this topic: Will equipping the Item Finders break my chain? Sometimes I accidentally hit right instead of up on my D-Pad and I'm hoping that doing that doesn't break my chain.

I was fish chaining in that exact spot shown at 0:28 and I reached a chain of 405 according to that guy in the fish house... no shiny at all. I had already found a Shiny Magikarp at a chain of about 10 previously...

every shiny i've managed to find with this chain (but i dont remember most of their chains) were octillery, clawitzer, carvanha, wailmer, and the most recent poliwhirl (which came in 9 catches) i've been trying to get a dragonair though

I have been doing this while watching videos and have been able to keep my chains pretty well. Earlier i got to a chain so high that i ran out of pp for every move then reeled the very next one in too slow and broke my chain :P
