PokéRadar Chaining for Easy Shinies! - Shiny Hunting Guide - Pokemon X and Y 

Had a chain of 40 on Zoroark. It randomly broke for no reason. I groaned in absolute pain. Repel wore off. I went to leave. Encounter starts. I chuckle, like the game is kicking me while I am down. Shiny Zoroark appears. Caught it in the master ball.

You're not going to believe this shit. I was chaining for Minum. I chained successfully on my second try (it's not too hard) and got the shiny patch to appear 40 minutes later, but it was another patch vertically under it. I accidentally went to it because it was hard to see which was which. Bunnelby. I will forever hate Bunnelby. Diggersby is cool, but fuck Bunnelby. Anyway, later that night I went to the Friend Safari. Found a shiny Terriursa as soon as I got to the grass. The next day, I got a shiny Fraxure the exact same way.

I had to restart after my chain broke several times, BUT eventually on one chain I got a shiny gothorita on my third encounter!!!

i got a chain of 36 with poliwhirl in platinum then lost the chain to a magikarp.

It took me a couple of weeks after I decided to do it but I finally got a shiny female combee.

Started playing X&Y again in preparation for Legends ZA. I had no idea that T-Tar has been PokéTubing this long!

You know, I never EVER had EVER gotten a shiny Pokémon but since I finally found a good video that explains to me well on how to get shinies maybe there's actually a 50 50 chance of getting a shiny for me.Hopefully......

After so many broken chains, right after I begun a chain, I caught a Shiny Slowpoke! Talk about luck!

Now if you're getting really good at it, try the first skewed bush formation on the right when you enter Route 14. It's really difficult, heck, I haven't even seen shiny grass in that patch, but shiny Accelgor is totally worth it.

Got a shiny croagunk after about 41 or 42 chains. Never got a chain that long, but I focused hardcore for thirty minutes and got one. When I saw the shiny patch I was like: 0_0 (*)**_(_*_) +_+ So I walked over to it and I was smiling, probably could have eaten my face, and then I found it, and I was freaking happy, and now I gotta go find another for myself because I get one for trading and one for me. I used a Mewtwo and Greninja for most of the time, but it was risky considering croagunks can have dry skin, so I eventually put Mewtwo out permanently. I used about 200 Max repels, only went through 10 bottles though, so that was promising. Also, 2 IV shiny croagunk! Haven't been to Kiloude city to clarify, but I'll do that tomorrow.

Shiny Illumise at chain 40 with 2 IVs Shiny Flabebe (Blue) at chain 40 with 3 IVs those are my successful hunts with pokeradar.

I can't remember exactly how high the chain was (somewhere around 30+), but I did manage to get a shiny Litleo once. ONCE. Grass chaining is frustratingly difficult. I've had way more success with encountering shiny Pokemon in Friend Safaris and chain fishing.

Found a shiny honedge with a 70 change, false swiped it, then switch to darkrai to put it to sleep... Bad dreams killed it Fml

I found out that the more steps you take, the greater chance of finding your pokemon, so I usually try to do about 2 runs (up-down/left-right) before going to the patch. ^^

a heads up for those trying to synchronize a certain nature onto the pokemon, the first party member needs to be a higher level than wild pokemon or the repel won't work

I found a shiny Ducklett as the first encounter when I turned on my Pokeradar, but it wasn't in a shiny patch. What does that mean? Is it normal odds?

So far, I randomly encountered 5 shinnies without chaining or anything. xD

Gotta say this was an excellent video wish people described the concepts of the bush as well as you did I'm going to attempt my Absol again because of this. Also so far my shinies include Lucario-female, Luxray-female,Lopunny-female,Furofo-female,Gardevoir-female,Gallede,Pyroar-female,Weavel-female,Pacharisu-female.

I used the method and after so many fails I finally got hang of it. But from what I heard it's supposed to change into an upbeat rhythm if you're close to shiny. Mine haven't and I haven't seen the shiny grass either. Anyway, worked, it took me about 20-25 minutes and my first shiny is Gothorita 😀. Now time for Ditto 😎

Got a shiny Swablu while chaining Altaria! Ended up hitting a horde with it in the middle.

Don't ever be scared of doing this method of shiny hunting, whenever you watch someone do it on a video, the grass patches look the same when they shake, I have fun doing this method and its A LOT EASIER then I ever expected out of the hardest shiny hunting method, its always fun to give it a try and you'll be addicted.

I did this tactic... chained for a shiny Ditto... on the 35th encounter, it wasn't a Ditto... IT WAS A F*CKING JIGGLYPUFF!!!!!!!😩😩👎🏼

Does the not going into patches within 3 squares apply to diagonals too? And the shaking patches next to each other?

would it be better to try for eevees in the yellow flowers(that are not very big patches but spawn it more frequently) or the grass(the opposite of the flowers)?

this is so annoying and u make it sound easy. Every time i try this, after beating the first patch of grass, THE NEXT SET OF PATCHES OF GRASS BREAK ONE OF THE THREE RULES! And when the first patch doesn't contain the pokemon you want, YOU HAVE TO WALK 50 STEPS UNTIL YOU CAN USE THE RADAR AGAIN! Only to find out that the next patch you walk in is JUST ANOTHER STUPID SCATTERBUG! ONE FLETCHLING! PLEASE! PLEASE! "No. Another scatterbug is what this trainer wants" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm working on trying to get a shiny Pancham or Bunnelby. I have caught a shiny Scyther before, and I wasn't even using Poke Radar which confused me. I was only just training my Pokemon with wild Pokemon. Thanks for the tips!

I got a shiny Sealeo in Shoal Cave in Alpha Sapphire randomly. I wasn't looking for pokemon at all and just came across it. Then I wanted others and since then I've found a shiny Wurmple, a shiny Ariados, and a few minutes ago got a shiny Zubat. Sweet scent with horde battles seems to be, by far, the quickest way to hunt for shiny pokemon. It's just limited because you can only get certain pokemon in horde battles.

So after catching a shiny pokemon at chain 40 does that reset the shiny rate for that pokemon? I know it doesn't break the chain but does it reset the shiny rate for the patches?

I've never gotten to a successful 40 chain, but I have gotten Doduo, and Gothorita by radar chaining (I got Doduo on a five chain! That's nuts!)(My highest chain was 39. Ditto! So close to that shiny!)

You can step into the correct shaking grass on any square except the edge. So if it appears next to you, and it's the correct grass, you can enter it.

I have yet to chain a shiny, but I've caught many a shiny in the wild otherwise. I never get 'em when I look, though. My crowning achievement was probably shiny Rayquaza in Emerald.

found a back to back shiny scatterbug. One in a shiny patch, the other in not a patch. No patch shaking there, and my scatterbug was lower level. It went through the repel and was shiny. Full odds?

Now that Pokebank is out, I'm going to show off my Shiny Darmanitan :P I got that shiny in Pokemon Black. I change the time of my 3DS to be Winter, then I got a RageCandyBar, woke one of the stones Darmanitan and came straight shiny. I was the last one of my group of friends to get the game, yet the first to get a shiny. Good times :D

I just started chaining 2hours ago trying to get a 3 perfect iv ditto no luck there but I did catch my first shinny ditto!! Got really lucky found him on my 7th encountered :). It seems hard but it's actually very easy.

Is something wrong with my pokeradar? Sometimes when i dont see a any good patches after defeating the pokemon species i want and use the radar, the music suddenly stops immediately after using it and not one patch moves making me start my chain all over again? It has happened when i have a chain of 4 and sometimes it happens at like 16. Did i do something wrong?

So does the music need to always be going on when chaining or does the music not matter? This is pretty difficult, but getting it down.

Good tuto, but you can go into grass that shakes next each other if they're shaking in a different way. My higgest success is 423 ditto.

I managed to find a shiny Golett.......after entering my first shaking patch, so I didn't even really start a chain... Also, that patch was basically the opposite of what you told us to do xD I guess I just got really lucky, especially since I can't get a chain of more than 7, even if I follow your rules and tips. I'll probably just stick with masuda's method and friend safari (got 4 shinies in friend safari and 2 through masuda's breeding method)

I found a shiny Shuppet in friend safari after 8 encounters. And also this method worked well for me!!!!! I went to Pokemon village and after about 3 minutes of encounters I found a shiny Zoroak! I wasn't even in a shining path of grass!!!!!!
