The bomb devil arc setup was honestly one of the manga moments that hit the closest to home. Never have i ever related with a manga main character so much as Denji during this arc. Honestly one of my favorite manga ever

I just finished Fire Punch for the first time and it actually made me cry uncontrollably. It was the most surreal experience to read something so fundamentally incomprehensible yet so touching on a primal level. Fujimoto is on a whole different plain to us mere beings.

The only manga that has made me laugh from sheer outrageousness at what the ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON.

Reread twice, now for a third time but physical copy wise. First ever manga/series i got into from the VERY beginning. After seeing the announcement of chapter 1 coming out about some kid that has a head and arms for chainsaws. So when chapter one got released, was instantly hooked. Have such a deep connection to this series for that reason.

Lol a couple days ago when this video dropped and the shonen jump promo popped on I said "fuck it, might as well read it". And I paused the video. Today I return to this video a new woman. A woman who whole heartedly and fully understands the reason this video was created.

I have never experienced such raw, pure, chaotic art in my life. I'm totally reading that part again. I had a blast the entire time. My only regret is I'll never be able to experience I for the first time again.

I think what really got me hooked on the series was how it felt grounded in reality. Even though there is this fantastical element with devils it sees them as a normal thing as they are used to it by now. With all the modern elements and issues I could easily digest this world existing and sympathize with a lot of the issues characters face, in some way or another.

Tip to anime watchers: Avoid spoilers as much as possible

Given that chapter 97 was not the end of Chainsaw Man, I can only think of one way for it to definitively end. But I hope I’m wrong, because while it ties everything up in a neat little bow, it also feels a bit underwhelming and generic. Basically, I can only see it ending in any sort of definitive way with the defeat and consumption of the Devil devil. People fear devils, meaning there must be one somewhere, and it must be incredibly powerful. And if Chainsaw Man were to consume the Devil devil, it would erase the very concept of devils from existence. My guess would be that some devil was responsible for Denji’s dad being in debt. Therefore, erasing devils from reality would rewrite history to give Denji the normal childhood he never got. And of course this version of Denji would have a cute little dog that’ll be implied to be some sort of reincarnation of Pochita. Thankfully, I think Fujimoto will be able to come up with something better. The man is far too insane to go for such an underwhelming ending.

I think that Houseki no Kuni deals with a lot of the same themes as Chainsaw Man. You should definitely give it a read. It’s a lot less well known but the anime is made by Studio Orange (Beastars’ Studio). The manga is far more interesting as it’s completed more though it’s still unfinished. I’d say it’s main theme would be “What it means to be human” It’s a beautiful read and is really similar to this manga, please give it a read :)

I think it needs to be said that his previous manga, "Fire Punch" as one of (In my opinion) the best trans characters of all time. There is so much empathy and acceptance given to them, even if they are a trully tragic character, it really made me respect the author a lot.

Ive read the manga twice maybe and still don’t know what the hell starts happening at like, halfway through.

While I'm still *very* cautious in my optimism for the anime adaptation, the manga is definitely one of the most impressive and interesting pieces of genre-bending fiction I've read in years.

I hope we get more from that world. I feel it really opened up for more content at the end, and it's got a lot of cool concepts! Also, HALLOWEEN!

Chainsaw Man really is great. As for expectation management, I feel the need to add that it isn’t for everyone, but that should be kinda self-evident. It’s dark, campy, and philosophical all at the same time. For many people, it will be too dark or goofy for them to enjoy, and that’s fine, but we must also acknowledge that this is more akin to not liking something because it’s in a genre you don’t enjoy than not liking something because it isn’t good. In regards to people who have felt confused by Chainsaw Man, I feel the need to point out that Chainsaw Man is much more philosophical and subtle than you would expect from a manga where a teenager sprouts chainsaws from his arms to fight bad guys. If you read (or eventually watch) Chainsaw Man while thinking of it as just another shonen, I can easily see how it can be confusing. Stuff like Hero Aca and Black Clover can be easily enjoyed without ever really considering any philosophy, and you can be certain that most plot points will be obvious enough that you won’t miss much. I think that people expect Chainsaw Man to be kinda like that, but it really isn’t. If you miss the (surprisingly) subtle writing, I imagine some parts will feel confusing. If you don’t consider the ideas it presents, I imagine some parts may feel pointless. I’ve seen a significant number of people criticise the last arc or two in ways that lead me to think that they may have read the manga expecting it to be as straightforward as most shonen. If you read Chainsaw Man with the same level of attention that you pay to most shonen, then yeah, some things aren’t going to make sense towards the end, but I really can’t blame the manga for that. All in all, I think the truest thing that Geoff said about Chainsaw Man is that it is more enjoyable when you get to reread it. Knowing the general plot of the story makes it easier to enjoy the subtle writing, fast twists, and barrage of information that are all really easy to miss the first time around. Chainsaw Man makes more sense the more you read it, and that makes readers enjoy it more.
