In July of 2021 Chandler Halderson shot his father Bart Halderson and mother Krista Halderson after they were about to discover a web of lies Chandler had weaved. He then dismembered their bodies and discarded some parts throughout the county and burned other parts in his families fireplace. Chandler was sentenced to life without parole. This is the squad car footage of Chandler and girlfriend Cat Mellender riding to the station for their interviews. Check out all trial coverage on @The Ward Case Files. I wish they had sooner, maybe they would still be with us today. It's disgusting how a child, or anyone, can kill their parents or any other human. Instead of owning up to his lies, he murdered his own parents...every day I hope he lives with regret for not just being honest and telling the truth about his lies, instead of killing his parents in an attempt to cover up his lies. A man like him won't feel remorse for it but I hope he suffers with regrets at the least. He probably only regrets getting caught, not his actions.

This had to be the most important and pivotal moment in the entire case. So many moving pieces were going about like clockwork at this time. Mitch and the police were on their way to the cabin, they had just discovered Bart’s torso on Cris’s farm. And Chandler still wasn’t officially connected to the murders, but they knew he was lying. So they had to arrest him quick for at least giving false information 😬 Talk about pressure! It’s so satisfying to see Chandler squirm like the worm that he is in the backseat of that cop car. But it’s also fascinating to see the inner workings in his head. Like, I wanna say 60% of him believed this was just simple follow up questioning, nothing was going to happen. The detectives began the interrogation with reading Chandler his rights, so, indeed, he was their suspect. "Lying to law enforcement" is often the charge they use while they're assembling the case. I believe in this case they didn't file the bigger charges for a week (?), or so. His initial bond was $10k (which he couldn't raise). At Chandler's bond hearing (so he could be released), prosecutors put out the probable cause for raising his bond, and that included heinous details, including the dismemberment. But I don't think those details were on deck on paper in detail until after that hearing.

I have degenerative damage to vertebrae c6 and c7 and can't look over my shoulder like that anymore (a bit further down than where he said he was injured). Also cervical vertebra injury causes problems in the ARMS, not the legs. The nerves surrounding the upper spine run down the arms and up into the face. Not LEGS. That's lumbar spine, the idiot. My dad has a neck injury, has had one surgery which reduced his range of motion by 40% but the doctors said they could try to go in and do another one but it might help, might hurt. He hasn't gotten it because he said the first surgery didn't help, only hurt his body and bank account. Either way, my point is, he has a leg that is severly smaller, like half the size than the other because it's pretty much dying and it's from a neck injury. His arms are fine.

He is sitting with one leg tucked under as well. And yes, he was really cranking his head to try to see if they were going in his parents house. So the nerve damage that made it hard to walk, gave him headaches, had to get excessive fluid off the brain and might need a colostomy bag has miraculously been cured on this ride in the back of a squad car with hard plastic seats. Crazy.

The difference between their rides is night and day. Chandler is super nervous, internally panicking, fidgeting, quiet unless asking questions for more information. Meanwhile, Cat is super lively, chatty, even joking around about “talking to a cop” because she knows she has nothing to hide. Cat seems like a super likable, charming and charismatic girl. She would definitely be popular online if she was a RU-vidr or a Twitch streamer. Poor girl. I hope she’s been able to find some form of peace from this whole situation.

@@ms.cruzcruz2298 Interrogation boring. He was suspicious of all the activity in their street and kept calling police for information , so as soon as the torso was found at the farm where he'd been seen, they invited them both in under the guise of making a statement. He was asked to go over what happened, from the beginning, initially with innocent questions, and he spent two hours describing his actions over the whole week, even including his parents actions, with no mention of shooting, dismemberment or burning etc Then the senior detective said "we're going to start from the beginning and we need the truth. We know your parents are no longer here. You know what happened " "Why, what's happened?" "You know what happened, you were there when it happened " "I wasn't there . . . " Arrested . . . "I want a lawyer". Never spoke after that, haven't seen interview with lawyer present and him saying "No comment " to all questions. Hope we see that too.

Chandler's guilt is ALL OVER! He knows something ain't right, which is why he was asking the Detective over the phone before he even left "is there anything new they found?". And when he got to the station he was tryna listen through the wall where he thought Cat would be. Their interview rooms were completely different, one was for a witness interview {on a couch} and one was for the prime suspect who is gonna be read his Miranda Rights in a plain room with 3 chairs and a table. When he got in that Police car, that was his LAST TASTE OF FREEDOM! He will spend the rest of his natural life behind bars, where he belongs. I still think Netflix should do a Documentary on this story. It had so many layers to it. The 48hrs show didn't come close to telling the full story, plus a lot of people never spoke.

The difference between their car rides is insane. Cat is calm, talkative, sweet, and shows zero concern that she's done something wrong. Chandler however, is clearly panicked. He barely speaks, but when he does only shows concern for himself, where he's going, how long it will take, etc... He knows he's caught, and is trying to figure out what they already know, what lies he needs to come up with next, and is going that Cat won't say anything that will make him look guilty.

It’s just so glaringly obvious Chandler was lying through his teeth from the get-go as he almost gave too much detail away and fixated on the oddest, most specific things: who in their right mind would worry about their lawn being mowed, when you’re on the way to the Police Station to be interrogated over the suspicious disappearance of your parents ?!?! I’ve followed this case from the very beginning and it’s something I noticed when he was being interviewed… It struck me as out of place/inappropriate when he weirdly spent so much time dotting the i‘s and crossing the t’s i.e. going on the lengthiest tirade about his own woes like his “injury” and how his dogs were scared of the fireworks and so he had to build them a fort, instead of playing the part (as we now know he’s guilty, thus any “concern” would’ve been an act) of the concerned son as it clearly was looking bad for his parent at this point. He’s a textbook narcissist and I hope he spends the rest of his miserable days out suffering and withering away in a cell, regretting his decision to brutally end the lives of the people who loved him the most and brought him into the world. 😤😢

It’s eerie as hell to think that the most probable way he took to dispose of the remains was driving right past my house. Unless he took a 30 minute detour. When I drive by that road, I think of this case and hope he is being tortured behind them bars. At 49:35 can see my pickup truck and our leased semi trailer parked at Southside tire..

It's so sad that members of her community were casting aspersions upon her, as though that sweet girl had any involvement in this horror show. I really hope and pray 🙏 she has found ways to heal from the trauma, and I know she appears to have a loving support system within her family, which I'm guessing has been key to her getting through it. She's such a genuine person, with her head on straight. Does anyone else ever wonder what she ever saw in this schlemiel? He has the IQ of a petrified log, my three year old nephew is more mature, and he takes "sponging lazy slacker" to another level. It's possible that Chandler needed help a long time ago, and nobody ever realized this. The signs can sometimes be subtle and easy to miss. But Cat handles life like a boss, and she's also seemingly a bright girl. Even if this awful series of events had not transpired, I think she was eventually going to see what a dickhead her "hubby" was. Chandler is amongst the stupidest criminals I've come across in my decades of following crime cases. Committing murder is an unthinkable act for the vast majority of people, in the first place, but there are easier and more intelligent ways of doing so. 🙄 Thankfully, dear Chandler is not smart enough to have come up with a better plan.

The way he’s talking to the officer ,so snarky and almost demanding about the car he’d go back in “WITH my girlfriend “. Next to the sentencing statement he made, this video allows us to see & hear the real Chandler Halderson.
