This July 2016 video shows crews from Seattle Tunnel Partners performing routine maintenance on Bertha, the SR 99 tunneling machine. Crews must regularly inspect and replace the tools that scrape away at the earth in front of the machine. This work must be completed in hyperbaric conditions similar to those found in an underwater dive. For more information, visit www.alaskanwayviaduct.org.

No decompression mask? The pressure would be insane 😳

My guess would be air pumps. The description mentions that they're under "hyperbaric conditions" -> extreme air pressure. They'd need to keep the pumps going constantly to maintain the pressure.

I would guess that the microphone used was more sensitive to the hiss of air tools and the air conditioning than our ears are. Still, they use a sign language so they must have ear protection and be accustomed to the environment.

I think it is the pressure washers.

I believe is a mist of water. You notice these guys are wet and you sometimes see a mist in the air. 115 feet of water over your tunnel means 50 psi of water pressure trying to leak into the tunnel.

It's PVC(pressure controlling valve) which keeps continuous supply of compressed air
