This is for fixed wing models where the EXPO is set on the radio. Check out the documentation for the flight control software you are using to see how to do this in the flight controller..

What a brilliant Channel this is. 🙂 Sadly, it also includes dodgy nostalgic RC-related Comments from the likes of me! I'm far too simple to use anything as complex as OpenTx; when I was flying back in 1980-something, long before computer radios or rates or expo, the only way to have variable control sensitivity was to have a Tx with very long sticks. [Note: I fly Mode 1 - elevator on the left, main turn control on the right.] My favourite setup for thermal soaring at extreme altitude was a Sprengbrook Variomodul Tx, which was wide and flat and had a weird rear-mounted suspension system that let it hang horizontally from a neckstrap as though it were mounted in a tray, only without the tray. That let you use extremely long sticks (almost three inches). Of course, you couldn't fly with just your thumbs, you had to pinch the sticks, tray-style. It was very comfortable. By moving your grip up and down, you could get fantastically sensitive 'analogue' expo just by pinching higher or lower. When a 12' span glider was just a speck in the sky, it was easy to avoid excessive control inputs simply by using the ends of the sticks. If you needed less expo, you just gripped lower down. Not exactly high-tech, but it was infinitely variable and very effective.

Hay I have a unrelated question. I seen a guy with another radio trim his elevator when he put his flaps down. But here is the kicker when he brought his flaps up the trim automatically went back to where it was. He also did this at half flaps. I know how to set up a flap to elevator mix, but to be able to do it on the fly would take all the guess work out of it. Will open TX do this? Thanks for your consideration

Yes. Use the same idea of a global variable ad the weight for the flap to elevator... Best of luck

I did that in my radio but yours is simpler and less complicated that what I did, I love it.

So is expo centre stick sensitivity? I want to make mine less twitchy. Do I lower expo
@Painless360
@Painless360 3 года назад
It depends on the radio. Futaba uses a negative value to make the sticks less sensitive, others like Spektrum and OpenTX radios use s positive value. See my video all about expo and what it is... Best of luck

More expo equals less twitchy
