I was wondering if this might be the same procedure for a 99 Camry. I have the 2.2L 5sfe engine too, but I wasn't sure if this was the same the same 5-speed transmission. Great video by the way, makes the job seem more do-able than I was expecting.

I am pretty sure it is! The Celica is just a Camry with a new body. Let us know in the comments if its the same in case someone else had the same question!

@@noodlefart1029384756 it's the same. Camry has balance shafts. Other than that, it's the same.

Hey, thanks for this video. About to do it to my own Celica. Just had one question, I'm looking for the plug gasket/washer and my local autoparts store is recommending 12mm gaskets. You linked one that was 18mm inside diameter, I am wondering if that matters. Thanks!

It was a fairly thick plug. The one I got was the right size for mine. I don't know if it differs. What engine/transmission combo do you have?

@@ufixitauto5237 Same Engine 2.2L 5SFE, stock manual transmission which I think is the S54. Don't have it with me right now, but plan on doing this when I get it back. I may just wait on buying the washers until I can 100% confirm haha. Thanks.

Hi, It's a Toyota manual 5-speed vehicle in 1990. There are signs that the gear handle is going to fall out while driving in the 5th gear. I'm driving slowly right now. I hope it's cheap. I'm curious about the repair cost. Where can I get the parts?
@SANTANA1deep

Almost all of them eventually end up like that. Mine is popping out of 3rd and 4th gear when I press on the gas harder. My uncle is a master Toyota mechanic, he says it's the synchros. So it's looking like I'll need a new transmission eventually. I'm going to be doing a V6 swap anyway

How much do you fill? Been looking for two days an I'm only finding automatic transmission fill amounts. Thank you for all the info

Mines 1994 so it should be the same

Essentially you just want to pump until it starts coming out of the fill plug hole and I ended up using a little over two containers :) so just over two quarts :) buy 3 quarts just in case 😁

Appreciate you dude, Ive been stressing trying to make sure I got all the right info but it's been hard to find some of it, meanwhile you had also the answers I needed. Shoulda RU-vidr instead of searching Celica forums for two days. 😅😂

How about the differential? Some models share the fluid with the manual transmission fluid, and some models don't. After reading online for weeks all i can find about this model (same as mine but i have camry) is that the differential fluid is sepperate from the manual transmission fluid. Can you maybe make a vid about that?

How do you check the trans fluid? Where do I check it?

There is no dipstick, so you either have to drain some of the oil to inspect it or if you're wondering levels, the only way to tell is to open that top bolt and stick a finger in it. If you can't feel the oil, it can use a top up. It's supposed to be filled up to that bolt. At least, that's my experience 😁

Where is the hole you pump the fluid into? Under the car?
