In this video i decide whether to keep my OG method of making scrunchies or changing to the popular 'burrito' method.
I also decide on a new length for my scrunchies to give them a more fuller look.

Hi! In 2019, I made 100 scrunchies for a Breast Cancer Fundraiser. I made quite a few test ones to find out what looked good with keeping the costs down. I tried 4 sizes of elastic and various lengths/widths of fabric. The elastic size everyone liked was 1/4" elastic. People with thinner hair found the larger elastic didn't work on their hair. There were 6 testers all with different hair types. For this year's fundraiser, I am going to make scrunchies again but try the burrito method. I found sewing the raw ends of the tube together tedious! I made a burrito one last night and discovered that you can turn the seam inside so it doesn't show. I put it on my wrist and just moved the fabric around until the seam was on the inside. I went through 10 different versions of face masks until I found something that worked for me. Modified two patterns together. Use what feels right for you. Both look great! Thanks for sharing your experiment with us! Take care!

I use burrito method for all my Scrunchies and I handsew all of the last small seams. Even when I get a large order of 40, I sit up late at night to handsew them all

I agree, the OG method is faster with the peg. The burrito method is time consuming. Do what works best for you.
@mimimini83
I like the original look instead of burrito.

I really don't think that where you get your wide elastic is such a big secret. Easy to find on the net. You can turn the seem to the inside on the burrito, easy peasy!

Now this has confused me more than ever! lol I use the burrito method, but when you showed the difference between the original and the burrito, I have to agree that the original ones do look neater. I changed to burrito method as I struggle to get a nice neat finish on the final closing seam, but now I might go and practise again. I also use wide elastic and agree that it looks far better.

You have worked very hard and deserve the best in success. I have to assume this video was made during the virus and elastic was scarce. In the future you may want to not mention that you do not share suppliers (Unless it is a magic wand store that makes you so wonderful) since that is one of the small business connects is our suppliers, everyone grows.

I have a question about the seam. Can't you just turn it so the seam is inside?
@themanlihood
You can speed up the burrito method if you thread your elastic whilst it is still a tube. After you've inserted your elastic, that's when you can turn it inside out.

I love the burrito method and it's the one I use all the time. If you don't like the look of your label placement with this method, you can try to put the label in when you sew the short ends together at the beginning. In the end, you have to go with what you're most comfortable with. <3

Definitely love the OG more! And the more fabric has more ‘puckers’ in the scrunchies! Love the more fabric also!

I'm glad you're sticking with your original method. I've got a small collection of your scrunchies and although it's hard to pick a favorite, I think mine is the solid white velvet. It looks so cute and goes with everything. I agree, it's just the right amount of fabric. Good luck with the website relaunch!! :)

you need to do a video on how you organise your fabric neatly in the bookshelf!

I'm sewing away with you. I'm making sails for my toy boats. Thanks for all your enthusiasm for self employment and all the tips you share. I've started my business thanks to you, and got a sale notification while I was watching! Totally stoked.
