Filling and flushing CP734 1/2 Chicago Pneumatic air impact with correct sae30 non-detergent oil. Fixed a click in one impact. Marvel Mystery oil flush. Lubricate.
WoW!!! I did not know about changing the oil on CP impact. That gives me something to do today. Having a CP impact/ratchet kit for way over 10 years and impact still works.Still does the job, but can tell it's getting weak. Cant wait to see if this will help. Plus take a good look at the ratchet that is not working?
I have 1/2 drive c.p. for over 20 years and always oil from the air inlet every time I use it. I did not know about the oil screw and will be reoiling the right way. Thanks.
so here goes another misconception. According to my instructions after oiling the gun and running it you are supposed to drain all the excess oil and what ever is needed will stay in the gun; otherwise it may be sluggish or slow to impact. IDK....... regardless I oil mine every 5 - 8 years as I only seldom use them.
Thanks for the video mate. I have one of these where the trigger is lose. There must be something broken inside. I am hoping to fix it before ever connecting it to a charged system. have you ever taken one of these part?
Got it for ten bucks, along with a nice 1/4" air ratchet for another six. By the way, your video was very informative, I am going to do all the same stuff to mine. It feels solid, and I am confident it will be a winner.
Brian Little haha, they are awesome. I actually am selling them on ebay! rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192337207975
Lot of bad info in this video. The drain plug is for draining excess oil. Its not a sump ffs!! Hear the performance decrease when he filled it with oil. He will ruin the motor if he runs it full of oil. Just bad advice start to finish. Strip the gun down and inspect the vanes, housing & motor.
@two38382 did you know that IR and CP are two different companies and different impacts! That's like saying well my Ford should get this because my Chevy does. 2. The performance decreased because I'm running off a small 5 gallon compressor that can't keep up. 3. I see you don't know basic components of the impact. The "motor" is on the pneumatic side which is separate from the oil clutch/anvil. 4. The impacts you tore down that were all wore out didn't have any oil in them. Hmm, maybe because they didn't have oil in them! That's like saying your blown car engine that you tore down didn't have oil in it so its not necessary. Also most impact wrenches don't require oil. This old CP does. 5. Direct from Chicago Pneumatic: Check clutch oil once each month. Use 3/4 oz. (22ml) of SAE#30 oil or equivalent
You are incorrect, sir. These older versions do. Direct from Chicago Pneumatic: Check clutch oil once each month. Use 3/4 oz. (22ml) of SAE#30 oil or equivalent. The performance decreased because I'm running off a small 5 gallon compressor that can't keep up.
@two38382 I have an older CP734 (as shown in this video) which I bought new. The owners manual clearly states that the motor and clutch for this gun are located in two completely separate chambers and require SEPARATE lubrication (like the engine and transmission in your car). This video is correct! The air intake requires air tool oil for the motor, and the clutch requires 3/4 of an oz of SAE30 non-detergent motor oil (as stated by the manufacturer)
