How to lubricate the impact mechanism on a pneumatic impact wrench - Ingersoll Rand 2235 

We recommend that you start with an interval related to how you are using the tool. If you use it multiple times a day then look to grease it every 6 months or so. You can inspect the mechanism when you do this to see if it really needed greasing. If not, you can extend the interval to 1 year. If it appears dry you should decrease the interval to maybe 3 months and repeat the check. If you only use the tool a few times a week, you can start with an initial interval of 1 year and proceed as above. Hope this helps.

I've been told once a month. They have a grease fitting near the trigger. I just pump mine with grease once a month.

Are we suppose to do these when we first buy them or 3-6 months after use

I do experienced the same kind of complaint. I had dismantelled it and found internals are dry and rust, so I had lubricated them with a Oil and then re-assembled them and turned the drive with hand. It was working. Lubricate it daily and then use it.

Tony im with you yeah like im going to do all this every 48 hours on all of my ir air tools witch I have a lot of . what is the sense of having a grease port on the wrench

Agreed, i have a Sunex impact with a grease zerk. I think a few shots of grease every week is easier an better then complete disassembly every 48 hours.

Disassembling it is the right way, if you pump it in youre just adding new grease without getting rid of the old

If it's pneumatic did you flood it with oil until it spits oil? air tool oil tends to dry out over time and turn into a sludge. did you make sure your air line filter isn't partially clogged?

A user on Garage Journal named Marlin, who has worked with IR, said that 10cc of 105 should be used if you open it up and clean out the old grease and 4cc of 115, which is a bit thinner, should be used for the grease fitting. FYI, the "-4T" is the size-it indicates a 4 oz tube. Both greases also come in "-1LB" which is a 1 pound can.

Same thing was happening to me, one of my vanes was backwards and causing a bind, could also be that the heads on too tight maybe

Wheel bearing grease works great. That's what I have been using for years

you don't have to take it apart but if you did it would do a bunch better job of lubricating the hammers. compared to just using the grease fitting.

@@condog118 yep and i am and will always be diassembling to clean and grease mine. im not lazy. i liek to take things aprt anyways, and this is just a bonus, due to needed and required maintainance anyways haha yayy

Absolute Zero yes. The grease sert is at the rear. Grease goes all the way through to the hammers.

RANDY S now the question is, why does he even have an impact wrench in the first place? No need to actually work on anything, just go out and buy a new one.

We use the drill he is using and there big angle drills. IR is a very good brand but stupidly expensive. Are angle drills are about 5 grand
