Stefan, i'll look forward to getting a copy of your book. I credit you for opening up my horizons on my knife collecting! I know own nine or ten beautiful french handmade knives, several other knifes you highlighted from other countries, and plan on collecting and using many more. I am also planning a trip to visit several of the regions you highlighted, and made some nice initial communications with several of the knife makers. And, enriched my passion for European history. Thank you
Stefan, your videos have led me to a very small (but hopefully growing!) collection of knives. Based on your reviews I’ve picked up a Chambriard Compact, a Laguiole knife by Forge de Laguiole, and just this morning a Maserin Dolphin. They joined an Opinel I’ve had for a while and a handful of Swiss Army Knives. I look forward to discovering new knives through your channel! Keep up the excellent work.
I’ve been a subscriber here for a few years, but I bought your excellent book a couple of weeks ago. I read it within 24 hours, but I can see myself referring to it for years. The photos are stunning! Great book, well done! I’ll be doing a review on my channel as soon as I can find the time. I specialise in exactly your type of knife.
After I watched the ad I ordered the book. It's a superb tome, and a wonderful reference. I'm really enjoying it, although I'm kind of reading it in pieces, shuttling through it. I would recommend it to anyone, and it is beautifully bound and nicely stitched too. The history in it is incredible - I never knew about the Sicilian ban on pointed knives. Truly fascinating. I notice you're not into Spanish knives, so far. Is it a matter of preference or will you be doing them in the future? Toledo, for one, conjures up a lot of romantic ideas about steel.
@@StefanSchmalhaus That never occurred to me! But I suspect a lot of the Spanish manufacturers have decent English, if not German. When I was down on La Donana National Park a few years ago on a field trip I saw some extremely beautiful and impressive-looking pocket knives for sale in the gift shop. They had Spanish and English catalogues for them too. Anyhow, back to my reading...
@@StefanSchmalhaus I suspect there might not be any, but you might be the one to write it. I did find this, which might pique your interest: cuchilleriaalbacete.com/co-en-4223-xx-muela-60th-anniversary-pocket-knife.html
@@StefanSchmalhaus if you're interested you may be able to find an International eBay sale. There are a great deal of old timers posted there currently
Good, but my criticism with all the respect you deserve cut the video at 0:38 after that it looks like an intro from 2015. My opinion is based on personal preference I’m no saying it is bad.
