This is a guide to obtaining all 7 Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Advance. I have also included maps and gameplay of completing the special zones. This is most definitely one of the most detailed guides to the chaos emeralds you can find! This also doubles as my video for collecting the chaos emeralds in my Sonic Advance play-through!

After a month I finally come back to the Sonic Advance Series. I decided to make a guide since I have to collect the chaos emeralds. I know when I was younger I struggled to get a layout of the levels. So I made this video in order to allow others to have an easier time understanding the map layout. this is a extremely helpful video. not only do you say what characters are the best for each level and the best path to take, but you also show the ENTIRE MAP. you are freaking legend dude, now if only someone would do this for advance 2…

When I was playing this game as sonic, I tried going for some emeralds but I gave up fast. Somehow I managed to find the 6th emerald and I beat the stage by accident. Also thanks for the vid it helped me out a ton :)

I played this game game for hours when I was a kid and I never once knew about the special stages. My introduction to them was sonic rush, sometimes at the checkpoints a sparklely circle would appear above them and that's how I knew about them. I literally came across one special stage yesterday after finding my gameboy advance sp and sonic advance was still in. Never knew about them at all until I saw that weird spring

I usually figure it out by the end of the game when Eggman has the chaos emerald. Meaning there are special stages to collect them

Thank you so much cuz I thought as i played for the first time the game I thought the special stage was at the end if you get 50 rings and there will be an emerald but then I thought "oh maybe there is no chaos emeralds " but I was wrong and thank you so much your a legend

I have this question. If I obtained a chaos emerald with one character then the next stage I switch to another character. Does the second character have the same emeralds that the previous character had or do I have to do it all over again with the second character?

You can use any character. You only need to get every emerald once

Can you get them all as one character? And once you get the Emerald, can you hit A+B+Start+Select? Or do you have to finish the level?

Las esmeraldas del caos se comparten entre personajes. Solo necesitas recolectar cada esmeralda del caos una vez. ~ Perdón si el español está mal. Yo usé el traductor de Google

Does it matter who you get the emeralds with?Like if I got all the emeralds with tails but not sonic does that mean I won't have the emeralds anymore when I do as playthrough as sonic?

You can get them with any character. The chaos emeralds are a global save.

I keep failing to reach the special zone by missing the platform in NEO Green Hill Zone. But I did eventually make it..... and proceeded to not get enough rings to get the emerald.

I have a question. I got the first and second chaos emerald but after I beat the second special stage, on the picture of the 7 emeralds it showed that I had the 2nd emerald it it didn’t show the 1st emerald. Why didn’t the game save me getting the 1st emerald?

@@Chibuga oh no worries, I figured out why. It was because I didn’t complete the act after getting the chaos emerald. Now I have all the chaos emeralds and I’ve beaten the moon zone boss. :)

I'll ask you a couple more questions: how do you do a dash in the air for Sonic and how did you get rings at 31:23?

Double Tap the direction to air dash. When you hold the speed up button your auto correct to the center of the screen which is perfectly lined up to go in-between the bombs. Allowing you to do a trick to gain rings in the yellow circle.

@@lorddelta1780 I'm not sure since it's been a long time since I played. I would guess try pressing it sooner than you think. If that doesn't work after a couple of attempts then try doing it later than you think. The timing is off, so whatever you think it is, is not the actual timing.

Just realized you have to use sonic to get the emerald to get the true ending

You do not. Sonic is only required to beat the final boss. Emeralds can be collected with any character.

Just pause and exit if you completed the level. If you haven't completed it then you have to reset the game.

_HOW?!_ How can you even play these Special Stages when they screwed up the perspective that badly?! What should be massive rings just phase right though me, because Sonic Team never figured out how to do the proper perspective that makes these faux-3d minigames actually work!

Idk about you but the perspective makes perfect sense to me. It is just 2D for the most part. Are you playing on actual hardware or an emulator? An emulator can make the rings pop up differently on screen and are a little delayed.

@@Chibuga I've played on both a GBA SP and a DS Lite, both have the same issue of making it look like I'm about to grab rings, only for them to pass right through me. I'm 100% sure it's not a bootleg cartridge, either. Sonic Team has had this same perspective problem with their pseudo-3d minigames since Sonic CD.

Same person. If you do not know, Sonic and Friends started calling Dr. Robotnik Eggman because he is shaped like an egg. It has been his nickname since the Adventure games.
