To your point about the champions not having heavy weapons. - As a great man once said when questioned about why he carried a sword during WW2; "Any officer seen in battle without his sword is improperly dressed" - Mad Jack Churchill.
I like the Havoc squad leader not having a heavy weapon. Fluff wise he wouldn't need a heavy weapon because he's busy picking targets, taking orders and positioning his squad. On the chance the squad runs into a scouting or infiltrating combat unit someone needs to have a close quarters weapon, you wouldn't want to lose 5 heavy weapons because a lictor popped out and no one wanted to fire as they would hit them selves in the blast. He could be smashing doors, clearing obstacles ect.
See, I really like the Heresy style weapons, Missile, Melta, and so on. Only thing is those Missile marines would have the Lascanon backpacks, especially with those magazines.
Looks like you've put one of the components of the chain cannons ammo feed on back to front just. Should be two solid rows running from the backpack to the weapon. Easiest way I found to assmble that bit is just to glue the two parts together so they form their chain, glue that to the bottom of the backpack, and then fiddle about with sticking the arms on later to get it all lined up.
Bit disappointed by all the Black Legion Models tho, would have liked more dark mechanikum stuff with them. More mechincal Limbs and such, much more hoses, cables. The BL at least should have more battleworn Marines with them. Nonetheless beautiful sculpts.
lolpatrol yes I would definitely be up for dark mechanicum stuff. It definitely exists in the 41st millennium and should be present. Also were are the heretic guardsmen other than cultists??
Sometimes it looks like GW is going ‘bananas’ with all these crazy builds... Now it’s the heads with the power plants. It’s the “thou shall not convert miniatures” taken to the extreme! Not a big fan of shoulder mounted weapons either, but these guys look cool. Yeah, it’s a cool unit. 👍🏻
as much as i love the sculpts, as a unit they are no different to devastators, just like chaos versions of the vindicator, land raider and predaotor. but chaos has so much cooler stuff for the heavy support slots of the old rules i still play in, so i went with obliterators, forgefiend and defiler instead. things you cant take as a loyalist.
There could be a moment of kindness from GW at Christmas with the big boxed sets that last about a month on the shelves and you may get 5 of these in the set (say a Christmas Black Legion set or similar) as a bargain ... but I doubt it.
It’s a little specific I did a commission for a guy who wanted a unit of 4 chain cannons and they didn’t play nice with one of the pairs of legs so I just ended up using legs from another box creating a duplicate pose
I bought 5 boxes just for the chain cannons 😂😂😅 what bothers me aside from spending 300$ on a 5 man squad. I hate the feet the claws and they looks like legs off the aggressors and they remind me of boots that someone like gene simmons would wear on stage 😂
I had 1 unbuild squad of the old havocs and just slaped on some thried party chaincanons not gonna buy any of the new marines cuz i have everything chaos wise. The new marines i use for chosen but thats it xD
Thank you for testing the auto cannons on those other torsos. Was on the fence about these guys, don't really like the look of the missile launchers or lascannons. GW should really throw you a few things for the free (or is it paid... By you) advertising you give them, lol, you just sold them a box of these guys.
Love the models the only disappointment for me was that they don't give you enough shoulder pads to equip them how you want to so no 2 auto-cannon reaper chain-cannon heavy bolter combo how I personally wanted
How easy would it be to paint these in sub-assemblies, so all the parts don't get in the way? The multiple contact points you were talking about with the lascannon guy seemed like they could cause some issues there.
I honestly thought you said peeper chain sword lol I really like these models and the fact they include two of each weapon except for the chain cannon and a great review as always 👍😁
About the Reaper Chaincannon. Whilst yes its a typical GW move to only include 1, it very much resembles a heavy bolter with a rotor barrel. Those 2 heavy bolters you get could be converted into chaincannons with a little effort. With a bit more effort, the autocannon could also be converted and boom, 4 chaincannons!
Solid review. Am I correct, were you gone for a bit? Missed your content bud, welcome back. I picked up a couple of the new Chaos releases (both Vigilus books, Abaddon, Shadowspear and the new CSM) and I'll definitely be getting the Havocs, Terminators and the Dark Apostle as well. Keep up the great work.
So Cal Astarte Thank you mate. No I was still here. Continued to make daily videos since October 2018. Covered Orks, Nemesis Warbringer, Genestealer Cults and now Chaos. Will be getting the terms and other CSM stuff soon so watch out for my reviews. See you soon.
Gorgeous models, Ive never had a badguy army in 40k (Other than space marines of course, the real badguys) and these releases are definitely swaying me
It really bugs me that "regular" Chaos marines are now taller (or at least the same height) and beefier than the Primaris. It just completely defeats the purpose of making them in the first place if GW ended up truescaling regular marines anyway with the new Chaos releases
This kit is really awfull from A to Z. Ugly, incomplete, not modular... and expensive. I am sure anyone who buy a box won't buy another one, and those who pre-ordered severals will be disapointed. Thanks for the review man.
Agree with everything but the ugly part. I actually think they are great looking models but that's also part of the problem. They definitely are incomplete, and not modular at all. These models are monopose. Buy 5 of these units and tell me the champions aren't all in the same exact stance, with his foot on a rocky surface. Aside from their arms, their entire body is already pre determined, and you can't really cut and slice a whole lot because of the amazing detail, that you'll for sure screw up if you attempt. Even their heads have to be glued on a certain way, hilariously. I notice GW has been doing this non stop now, even the new Chaos Marines are monopose. Just a shame because they really are nice looking. With the older models I could do a lot more with them. Got one guy with a combat blade and a recently decapitated head in his other hand that he's holding by the hair. Got several other regular Chaos Marines holding or firing bolters with combat blades, and I even have another with only one arm with a knife, his other severed. I can't really do any of these creative things with these new models, so as far as I'm concerned, I'm mostly done collecting now for the most part. The glory days are definitely gone.
It isnt "always" better to have 4 of. There is some justification for 2 of the more expensive weapons combined with 2 of the cheaper, this can help you not put too many eggs in one basket, also split fire is a thing.
