Your dedication to setup and teardown is beyond commendable. Having done photography and videography I knew your lighting setup looked controlled and professional, what I didn't realize is that you covered all external light sources to have control over all of the lighting. Add on top of that all the brewing setup and you've got yourself a very busy day that most people couldn't be bothered to do either the lighting or brewing setup more than once a month, and you do it so often! Amazing!

Just want to say you two are a godsend. One day I decided to get into mead making and began researching. Your channel is one of the few go-to's now. In my eagerness I started a Habanero pineapple mead but got a pineapple instead of pineapple juice. Now it's one Habanero mead and one pineapple. The Habanero is turning out delicious and it isn't even done fermenting. The pineapple took off like a rocket and is at a 0.994. If this is done fermenting, i might back sweeten with some pineapple juice to compliment the pineapple whole that was used.

Now that I see this I'm being reminded of all the times you say to us "in your kitchen" but I guess I always assumed that meant you were assuming we all brewed in our kitchens while you had a dedicated space for brewing/filming. In best David Attenborough voice “and here we see a wild Derica and Brian. Derica gathers the tools they’ll need to successfully make it through a fruitful film day. The pair work in unison to build the set, making sure everything is in place. As you can see the curious cats linger around watching the pair go about their daily tasks. The wild Derica in her parriarchy nature relocates the cats to a safer location. As we can see the Brian is not camera shy and gives a little wave. After the time consuming task they are done, ready to film and put a video out in the wild for all to see. Before they can enjoy the fruits of their labour they now have the task of deconstructing their work for the day to once again repeat on the next film day” 🤣😄

Thank you for your videos, I've learned so much from you two over the last year. I've started pasteurizing my brews before they go completely dry and preserving some of the sugars rather than back sweetening. I've got some pretty good results that way. I start taking gravity readings when it's getting close to around 1.015 and that's generally what I shoot for. I do have a question about that. I've got a capsicumel going right now that should hit that target about the end of next week, and I'm going to be out of town for a few days at that time. It may go a little dryer than I like and I can back sweeten it, no problem. My question is, is there any reason I can't pasteurize it then back sweeten it? The reason I want to know is because I just racked into the jug that I use to pasteurize in and back sweetening in that jug would be difficult because the neck is to small to get anything in to stir it. Sorry for the long winded question and thank you again for all the wisdom that you share with us. 🍻
@CitySteadingBrews
@CitySteadingBrews 2 месяца назад
Adding honey after pasteurizing has a chance of restarting fermentation due to wild yeast. It can just sit as it is til you get back though.

And I get exhausted from setting up for honey harvest in our kitchen. Seems like a lot less work than this...

As photographers I am sure you v are used to setting up this equipment for a shoot and it translate to what you are doing now. I would get sick of the set up and take down. For this much work I want to make an extra room or a corner of the basement into a set where everything is there and ready to go. I am not a professional RU-vid content creator so maybe my view point would be different if I was. I have enjoyed your videos, hard work and all.

We have no basement as we are in Florida and a tiny house! We only do this twice a week though and shoot all our videos in those two days.

Huh, always thought the table you used was smaller. I have no clue how you stand having that huge light in both of yalls eyes, that would irritate me to no end. Also KITTIES and FISH ❤, what kind of fish you have?

I LOVE your kitchen and pantry. It says everything I LIKE about you guys, except for maybe the colour of your backsplash and the colour of your living room carpet. MEH. 2 out of 150,00 things is nothing. 😆😆😆😆😆 But what do I know? Your home is so tastefully decorated with clear signs of "homey" & cozy (even for the fur babies) and I can see everything is done with such a practical reason behind it. Happy Mother's Day. Thanks for taking the time to show us and film what it takes to set up one room in your home into a filming studio, to create the wonderful, informative videos you make for us. Another thoughtful video done. Thanks, again.

Wow! That's a lot of equipment, and time. and labor; mix in alcohol, and a few cats. what could go wrong! Does make for great videos tho! Must be expensive as well

okay, two things come to mind watching this: You guys need a bigger house. Why is Derica doing so much of the Work and Brian seems to be coasting along? I know that's not how it is, but the vid surely makes it look that way edited.

If you want to buy us a house, by all means. The camera is on her, not me. We were both working, it's how we do things.

@@CitySteadingBrews you misunderstand me, it just looked like Derica was doing all the work, I know you guys share the load, it wouldn't work otherwise. and as for buying you a house, well you'll have to wait until I win the Lottery. Until then I will just have to keep enjoying your work and experimenting myself.
