Welcome to my video on charging my jon boat batteries w/ Noko Genius . I purchased the Noko Genius on board battery charger about a year ago for my #topgunjonboat #jonboattobassboat build. I've used it long enough and have enough charges under my belt to show you the process and my thoughts. Thanks for watching!

Hey Anthony, I do much of the same thing however I took an old pair of jumper cables, cut it in half, and attached them to the ends of the 2 banks so I can attach with alligator clips. Makes it much easier to come home, plug in and go from there. Much less fiddling.

How is your 2 Bank Charger holding up now since it’s been awhile? Reason I ask is that I have had to replace Two of these chargers within 3yrs Thinking about going with another brand because of this. Problem with both of mine where that only one side would fully charge and one side would eventually go out and quit charging. Thanks for your info

One more battery question. I see you left the cables attached to one of the batteries when you charged it. Were those for the fish finders and accessories? Any issue leaving them connected while charging? I suspect not as long as you have the master kill switch turned off for those? I have two batteries in my boat, and I have one dedicated to my trolling motor. I don't currently have the trolling motor connected to the master kill switch (should I?), and I typically remove the wires from the terminals on that battery when I'm done fishing and/or charging the battery as I "think" if I leave it connected it will still be pulling current from the battery. Any Best Practice battery feedback to share? Thanks in advance! P.S. I stopped by Autozone yesterday and they were kind enough to just give me two terminal covers for free as they didn't have any for sale. They just took some off the batteries they had for sale. Score!

Those cables go to my positive bus/fuse box and negative bus bar which powers everything in the boat. Does not hurt to leave connected so long as all accessories are off. I do not turn kill switch as no need, as all accessories are off. Are you running all your accessories and trolling motor off the same battery? I personally wouldn't as I'd prefer all accessories on their own battery, especially with a livewell running all day. Not sure your set up but regardless I'd just run the trolling motor straight to the battery w circuit breaker. Don't need to unplug from battery. Shouldn't pull power unless it's on, but up to you. Battery will discharge as it sits regardless if anything is connected, which is why to always do a maintenance charge every 30 days and charge day before use.

How long are the charging wires and how long is the power cord?
@BWCA-vy2pi
@BWCA-vy2pi 3 года назад
I'm thinking about getting the same charger. I called the company and they said that you can add more wire so you would not need to take the other batterie out.

What battery do you use for your trolling motor.
@wesleywillard
@wesleywillard 4 года назад
How long of a day do you get out of the trolling motor? At full speed more or half/less than half? Trying to figure out how many batteries I need for a 30lb thrust in a similar if not lighter setup. Thanks in advance.
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 4 года назад
You divide max amp draw into the amp hours of the battery. So if it draws 50 amps at full throttle and you have a 150 amp hr battery you can run wide open 3 hrs before dead. I honestly don't even remember the math on mine I just knew when I did it ad bought the battery based of the motor specs, I figured I could run all day. I fished a tournament in electric only lake recently, ran 7 hrs. I ran wide open spot to spots, slow through coves and banks. I'd recommend looking up the run specs of your unit the basing the size deep cycle you buy off of that. All batteries are not created equal btw, kinda get what you pay for.

I do the same thing with a 4 bank battery tender charger, I keep it in an old battery box to keep everything dry because my boat stays outside. One thing that makes things easier... alligator clips man. Also, what kind of run time are you getting? If you need more, look into 6v golf cart batteries, you will get way more run time vs a single 31 size
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 4 года назад
I'm getting great run time. Per amp hr rating I can run that motor full throttle for 6 hrs straight. Obviously I don't but I do run it from spot to spot, half throttle here and there, ect. Having the livewell and everything else on a second battery definitely helps. I like this setup although may go electric outboard in future w a battery made specifically for the outboard. (Think: Elco, ePropolsion, Torquedo)

@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats those torqeedo motors are awesome! My friend came across a deal for a 4.0 and the batteries on FB for like 2,500. That things moves! Keep up the good work, your attention to detail is a true inspiration.

Solid green is a medium 13 Fishing Fate and LOVE IT. The half green/ half white is my heavy rod, a Duckett Green Ghost. I like both but caught more fish on the medium 13 Fishing.
