@@hapiavenue2136 Yeah, it's supposed to be national... But he isn't a treasure to entire nation. He's a treasure to all nations. A "global" treasure. Used "natural" as a play on words. But after seeing "global" in the comments, it does sound better in hindsight.
Met him at a comic convention a couple of years back. He’s honestly such a sweet person, and he talked to everyone who came up to him like they were old friends. 100/10, would meet again ❤
It feels strange watching this with the sad knowledge that Charles Martinet is officially stepping down as the voice of Mario. But I’d say 32 years as our favorite Italian plumber is amazing on it’s own. Thank you, Charles, for making Mario the icon that he is. Best of luck to you. ❤
So I got my Switch signed by Charles at comic con, but he needed a new pen, so I got to stand across of him for 3 minutes awkwardly and they were the three most beautiful minute of my life
He is the voice of my childhood, i had no real friends back then, only freaks who made fun of me because i have asperger's. The only way i could feel happy was playng Mario games, i shead some tears of happiness when i hear his voice because is thanks to him that i have some good memories of when i was 4 to 8. Thanks Charles.
It’s funny. I’ve been diagnosed with Asperger’s as a toddler and I have almost the same story. To this day my top 3 games of all time are the two Galaxy games and Mario Kart Wii with Minecraft at number 4. Mario helped get me through a childhood where I had nobody who I felt comfortable with in real life. The worlds created by Shigeru Miyamoto gave me the best friends I had then in these stupid childish games and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Humans can be cruel sometimes i also had a really shity childhood because of others making fun of me just because i'm different and i also found joy in playing videogames that was my way of forgetting how hard the world out there is and how shity humans can be ....
God bless you Mr. Charles Martinet. You are a very humble man & you are GREATLY rewarded for everything you've done & continue to accomplish because Mario & Luigi will always be on top of the world!
2:07 this man auditioned for a play, and when he didn’t get a part in it at all, he didn’t take that as a sign of “you shouldn’t do this”, he took it as a challenge of “I’m gonna prove to you that I’m better then the best”. Talk about determination and motivation. Thank you Charles.
Bruh why are half the comments people saying they will be sad when he dies. Is that the first thing you think of when you see him? :/ he’s 63 and likely has a lot of years ahead of him
3:57 “There’s a world of happiness waiting for you when you’re committed to your own happiness and joy.” - Charles Martinet Thank you for everything Charles.
3:42 spoiler alert: he didn’t get there. Charles is still with us, but it looks like he’s retiring from voicing Mario much sooner than he anticipated. Thank you Charles for giving us 30 years of joy as the iconic character!
If your company has a character made from Japanese people that made an Italian plumber who's voiced by an American person, you know you're going to be successful.
Charles Martinet doesn’t just play Mario, he literally is Mario! I hope to goodness that they just use archived audio of him when he eventually reaches World 7.
Its really sad to see him go, I've been playing Mario since 2014. Thank you for everything you done, now you should rest after everything you give to us.
What a wonderful wholesome man, very fitting. He seems genuinely happy at the thought of his career bringing joy to hundreds of millions of people. I hope he's had and continues to have great life.
I never get tired of hearing Charles Martinet tell his story on becoming the voice of Mario (& other characters), & just his history with working on all these games for Nintendo! I love it so much :)
"Hello, I'm a Mario! Let's make a pizza pie together! You go get some sausage, I'm gonna get some spaghetti, we're gonna put spaghetti in the sausage in the pizza, and then I'm gonna change to the pizza. And if I catch you in the pizza, you gotta eat-a the pizza." -Charles Martinet
“To anyone who does anything in life, do what you love to do. There’s a world of happiness waiting for you when you’re committed to your own happiness & joy.” -Charles Martinet
You got that right! I myself got to meet Charles Martinet, at a video game expo back in 2018. Every attendee knew that he was gonna be there. EVERYONE EXCEPT ME.
The man of 4 voices (in video games). For 30+ years this man has voice 4 famous characters in countless video games. Generations will know this man. Charles has brought joy to everyone. The world hasn’t been the same since Charles became the voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi.

"You're an _Italian_ plumber from *Brooklyn* for a *_Japanese_* video game company called Nintendo, and your name is Mario (Italian *and* Spanish name)"
@@nickmalanno6464 Mario is also a Spanish name, I doubt they intended to say he was Mexican, I'm pretty sure they did mean they Italian name, but I was just pointing out how, if it was the Mexican name, Mario is a very diverse character.
Well, I'd say its a cut for the best job between being the voice of Mario or hosting the Prices is Right. Either, I think, would be tremendously rewarding.
I just finally had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Martinet yesterday at Indiana Comic Con and he is every bit as joyous and down to earth as you would imagine, and then some. He genuinely does love his fans and what he does. I thought I'd get just one picture but Mr. Martinet took 3 with me in various Mario poses! He signed my OLED Switch dock, not just one little signature, but signed it and wrote little Mario quotes all over it on BOTH SIDES!!! Thank you for everything over the years Mr. Martinet, I wish you all the best!
Since he is talking about being an actor and being serious about it they *_BETTER_* give him the part to play Mario's voice in the movie, would be cool to hear him read a script instead of the generic game lines.
"I want to be more like this character! Full of joy and happiness and fun and courage!" Charles Martinet is already Mario! He's already filled with joy, happiness, fun, and courage! =D
That's right, he's a very friendly person, just like his Mario character. *I ACTUALLY GOT TO MEET HIM!* *ALL THESE YEARS OF PLAYING NINTENDO, AND I FINALLY GOT TO MEET HIM!!*
