I don't hate all advertising. Only the vast majority of it. On very rare occasions, an advert (although unlikely to persuade me to part with cash) can be a blend of art and intriguing thought. But in a half-hour programme, Charlie Brooker does a superb job of dissection. Almost cathartic. Also, I do laugh uncomfortably at the Bill Hicks assertion that "anyone in advertising and marketing" should kill themselves because they represent all that is wrong with humanity... The "good" adverts? Fosters "I can see the pub from here!" makes me chuckle. (There are others). But "Wazzzzzz upppp" makes me hope for an extinction-level event. Another good advert is long overdue. 2024 maybe?
