So sad to see him go. He was one of the best. But with the chaos that the world is in right now maybe the ones who don't experience what is coming fast are lucky because it's looking ugly. RIP Charlie
This is what real country music is all about. Speaking truth to power, challenging norms, forcing the issue, being controversial, being honest about real life. This song would never be played on country radio today.
"Preacher man talking on TV, puttin' down the rock&roll ... Wants me to send a donation cuz he's worried about my soul. He said Jesus walked on the water, and I know that is true ... But sometimes I think that preacherman aught to do a little walking too ..." 💯😏💯 and worse, with verses like this 👆⬆️👆 you'd have MTG, Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, Boebert and all their ignorant know-it-all freedom hating Christian Nationalists calling for him to be boycotted and cancelled, probably calling him a godless pedo democrat who shouldn't be given a stage to sing on.
@@SteakCutFriesAre you really comparing the lyrics of this song to the books you Democrats are pushing on elementary age children? And yes, the Democrat Party is full of pedophiles.
@RidgeRunner Ralph was a lot more cooler than we give him credit. He had BJ Thomas and others outside of country on his shows. CDB is probably right down his alley.
You were the epitome of a true Southern man, with a great Country voice, unique guitar pickin, and a hell of a fiddle player.... with a cute smile and the charm of a gentleman. A TRUE Southern Gentleman. You will be missed Mr. Daniels. May you Rest In Peace playing your original style of Southern Rock in the sky... You & your music will Never be forgotten..... ✝️🎵✝️❤🤍💙
My dad tells me about the fun he had growning up in the 70's driving around listening to this new stuff called southern rock. That must have been a time to be alive!
The 70's was the best and will always be the best time to grow up. I saw Skynyrd, Charlie, Marshall Tucker, the Allman Bros. when they would play in the small clubs in Atlanta. Between them and just being able to have fun and not get locked up,, it'll never be as good as the 70's. The music will live for ever
RIP Big Man! I’m a fan of CDB since the mid 70’s. This is home grown country rock at it’s best. In his 83 years, he’s made many people dance and sing along, I’m sure God was most pleased with His childs life. Bless those who love this gentle and kind man, and may they lean not on their own understanding😢🙏
The courage to be an honest man in today's world takes a big heart. I think he had 2. Thanks for the great music Charlie Daniels rest your way. God bless you and your family
I drove over 750,000 miles for my employer from 1999 to 2014...... Charlie got me through a lot of those miles! Thank you CDB for all you did for our country! A legend has passed😢
I just heard this morning that Charlie Daniels has passed away, he was one of my favorite singers and musician I was fortunate enough to go to one of his concerts
I was born in 1962 and turned 62 July 2024.ear buds in blasting that music and locked the world outside. Back when things made sense. The 80'S and 90's were the best many great memories. Still here August 2024!!!!
I ain’t asking nobody for nothing, if I can’t get it on my own. R.I.P Sir. You shared a path of decency, integrity and extraordinary music with many of us. Thank you always.
Play this song every time I pick up my guitar. We will always miss Mr. Danials, his patriotic, down to earth attitude, and every note of his boot stomping, kick-ass rock and roll. R.I.P. ……and a thousand thank you’s.
One of his best, if not his best song. True to his roots and where he's from! One my states best ever country singer/songwriters! An American LEGEND! 🇺🇸💪👊
it is his best song, I learned it when I was 5, it is pure Charlie at 5 I didn't know a whole lot, but to know this song and sing it, with my long hair made me proud to be a country boy
A bit of music died today. Charlie Daniels was a major cross over, country loving dude. Been groovin' to his music since 1970. I may be old but today, I'm gonna dance to my favorite Charlie tunes, that would be every song he did. RIP Charlie, thanks so much for being and creating. Will never stop listening or dancing.
What's awesome is they played this just a minute ago on the radio and it was the first time I heard it. It was on a rock station as well. Love Charlie Daniels!
With a very heavy heart and almost swollen eyes, I will wake up early in the mornin' and drive about 5-6 miles down the road passing flags lowered to half staff to see Charlie one last time at the public viewing at Sellars in his beloved Mt. Juliet, Tennessee hometown. It will not be easy for me but, it's alright and I do know he is home now. And of that I am sure. And I also know there waitin' for him is his very talented good friend and buddy Ronnie VanZant holding a few sips of wine and a fishin' pole with a big 'ol southern grin on his face. I can't say here how much that I respect him and always have. So I will with all due respect and borrowing a few lines say this.." Say it loud and let it ring that we all are part of everything.. The present, future, and the past. Fly high our fiddling frynd, you're finally home at last.." God Bless the families, friends, and fans of The Charlie Daniels Band..🙄😪 We will never stop remembering you either Charlie, even after many more tomorrows..🦅
People don't know that a PTO shaft on his tractor almost ripped his arm off and he somehow overcame the injuries and learned to play the fiddle and guitar again. Charlie was a national treasure.
funky Charlie Daniels...I'm from Slovakia in Europe but I damn sure got it made to and relate to this tune:) thumbs up to this southern classic, the best music out there!
Glad to hear it. Hope to visit your part of the World some day. Don't know if I'll ever make it out there, but I'd love to visit and experience Central/Eastern Europe, more so than Western. It's ignored in the school curriculum here, but as a fan of history I won't pass it up if I get the chance. Looking forward to it in the future!
America needs more Europeans...only 15 per cent of legal immigrants per year can be white.Passed in the Civil Rights Act of 1965.Discrimination at it's worst. MAKE AMERICA AWARE !
Got married on Charlie's birth day and took my new bride to one of his Concerts 42 years ago. Yesterday will always be my sweetest memory of the Greatest Country Music singer we ever met. RIP CHARLIE EDWARD DANIELS.😪🤧🤠 Our deepest condolences to his wife Hazel & Charlie Jr.
Had the honor and pleasure of meeting Charlie before a concert in Denver in 1976 or 77. A true country gentleman - someone you'd like to have for a neighbor. What you see is what you get. RIP Charlie.
RIP Charlie. Your a true Patriot and a helluva American musician and songwriter. It doesn't get ANY better than you sir!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I had the privilege of seeing Marshall Tucker & Charlie Daniels at Riverbend in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1975.Fleetwood Mac & New Riders of the Purple Sage were performing too. Great great memories.❤️
I was in my twenties in the decade of the seventies, what a time to be young. southern rock, southern belles, and all those drugs and just raisin' hell with no worries.
Why do people have to make this political? Music is music, man. It doesn't matter what party you belong to, what color your skin is, what country you're from. Good music can and should be able to be appreciated by everybody.
I have always admired Charlie Daniels. A great man, a great musician, a great Conservative and Christian. Thank you God for giving us Charlie Daniels! :)
Damn, this brings back memories. I was in my late teens or early twenties when this came out and lived in the mountains of western NC. Still am a long haired country boy and always will be.
I saw him in a little dive in 1971 in California and he was awesome then. I have been a fan ever since. I love you Charlie Daniels, you will be missed.
My apologies if it’s already been mentioned, but to read thru 2500+ comments would take a long time. Charlie was not only a great musician & entertainer, he was a big supporter of the troops. While on his way to a show in the desert, their plane couldn’t land at the designated base, due to a sandstorm. They ended up putting down at a base where my son was stationed. While they weren’t scheduled to appear there, Charlie and his band decided to take their instruments out and put on a show for the people that were there. Afterwards they held an autograph session as well. It was extra work, and instead of sitting it out on the plane until conditions improved, they made the best of it. To me, it shows the kind of patriot Charlie & his crew were. My son still talks about now & then, especially since the sad news of Charlie’s passing. May he Rest In Peace.
"I aint asken nobody for nothin, if i cant get it on my own...." This is a lost way of living now days, everybody thinks they are entitled to everything without having to work for it. We have become a lazy, liberal country with no work ethics. I work my ass off everyday to support my family and put food on our table and I never complain because thats what a true man, or woman, is supposed to do.
+Garrick Clark Did he complain about having to work to support him and his own? No. He complained about how every other person feels entitled to the work of others. The work he does. When you grow up and work, to see every other person begging the state to take a cut of what you worked honestly for to feed their lazy entitled mouths, hopefully you'll understand. We live in a society of beggars and crybabies, because that's what the majority supports. Cry and vote a bit harder and you get what you want without having to do anything but sit back and watch. They aren't the ones who have to hold guns to people's heads if they refuse to fund this extortion. So it's all fine and dandy. Leave it to the state to steal the money of honest workers to pay the entitled and you won't have to bat an eye. Just collect that dandy welfare check.
"RIP" Charlie Daniels Started Out As A "Long Haired Country Boy" & Ended Up As A "Simple Man"! Two Of My Favorite Songs Of Charlie Daniels "They Remind Me Of Myself!
This dude was good enough to come my little town of Beaver Dam Kentucky and put on a show just a few years ago...I missed it cause I had a show of my own to play...I wish I had postponed it now to see this legend...People like this are few and far between nowa'days..Anyways he's a blessed soul and is home now..
Me n my girl just seen him in Marietta, Ohio in September, 2019...holy shit, he can still bring it at 82, my friends seen him in Pittsburgh the year before and were praising the show, they were not wrong, unbelievable show. God bless you Charlie, you have it going on man.
My heart is truly broken today. I listen to Charlie Daniels every single day, not just because he's passed away. Love this sound and true country manner.
Had the privilege of scratchin' this one off the bucket list this summer. The HIGH lite for me was seeing this young man sing "How Great Thou Art" Single spot, him an the guitar, singin for all of us. Something was in my eye, couldn't focus, but I HEARD.
Yes. I met him many times when I was a teen.. He come to Montgomery, Alabama Every year in the 70's. I never knew he was born in 1936.. He sure didn't look 83.. He will be missed very much by many! 😭
Met Charlie about 30 years ago or so when I was a little boy. He signed a photo for me and it was one of those things I'll never forget. He was a huge animal looking guy whose music I loved, and he talked to me like a man for longer than he had to. Total respect to this fine example of what a man oughta be.
Here is a man that loved what he did. I saw him at the Grand Ole Opry about two or three years ago. He was 80 at that time. This is a man that could have retired, but he was still out there and he was damn awesome.
