Spraycan flat black makes expensive cars look very cheap. First thing comes to mind. That Porsche has been in accident, and its owner doesn’t have money to get the car painted. That custom paint $10,000-$13,000!
For my 13th bday my dad took me to a carshow and surprised me by having his dad’s friend bring not only 1, but 2 of his Gallardos. He drove the coupe (Dark Red) while his wife drove the convertible (Silver). He gave me a ride in the coupe and it was an incredible experience I’ll never forget. I’m picking the Gallardo 11 times out of 10
I know the sake of this exercise is sam’s replacement car for his spyder and such, another cayman/boxster probably isn’t the answer but I think for $100k, a more comfortable, usable, option would just be the 718 GTS 4.0.
As a prelp gallardo owner im glad to see more love being shown for them. They are some of the best cars you can buy in the price range. Pretty reliable, incredible sound and look, great ownership experience. Cant recommend them enough
Matte black base 911 cab is definitely the spec you want if you’re a 37 year-old cigarette smoking guido who wears Ferragamo and logo-plastered LV with your $170k digital marketing salary while running $2 million in debt.
Definitely hard to watch the 911 drive section with the howl in the background from the lambo. I'd pick the gallardo any day, but that's because I grew up in the generation when this car came out. It's not about the speed anymore. It's about the emotion and fun you get from a car.
The Gallardo was my dream car when I was little, and it still looks awesome and beautiful. Lamborghini knocked it out of the park in design and elegance. Sam probably my third favorite presenter in the Doug Universe after Filippo and Nick.
You better have a shit-ton of money to own any Italian car, particularly one that had an MSRP of over $150K back in the day. A smart man would buy the 911.
Such a good comparison video, you guys are both so competent and informative. I would recommend turning the music down just a tad, it’s a little distracting. Cheers!
An interesting video for you guys to do is the cost of ownership. You often discuss cost of ownership, but I have not seen you guys go over what those costs can be for a 00s BMW or Porsche, etc. The 3rd or 4th owner special cars.
Considerations with the Porsche: PDK's have and can fail, at a cost of $25k to replace (dealers dont want to touch a PDK, some outside companies will work on them, often its just the distance sensors failing but that still costs $10k to fix) As seen on the 911 in this video, lots of stupid issues like the vinyl door panels delaminating and warping really badly. It might be a reliable Porsche but it has its fair share of issues too
Help me decide Gallardo is my dream!! Listing shows 28% clutch remaining..$10k service. No front lift no backup cameras in the 04s... This isn't the one fellas
@@jaioncebollero1168brother you are crazy. And have never driven one any base model 911 has absolutely zero life. Zero the e gear is definitely not as good but you at least get SOME feedback and feel so much more connected.
there are backup camera work-arounds (license plate frames with cameras that bluetooth to phones) but the lack of lift would be a major concern, I think my driveway may even be too sloped for one even if it had a brand new clutch.
I had a 992 C2S for a total of 3 months. I was super excited at first but that wore off fast. I wasn’t excited to drive it. It felt sterile and frankly boring. I sold it and bought a new C8 Z06 and that was exactly what I needed. That car is far superior to the 911 in the fun to drive and excitement categories.
I love that spec the Gallardo is in. The only things I would have done differently would have done differently would have been a manual transmission and non-chromed, unpainted aluminum-alloy collored wheels. Still, that Gallardo looks absolutely stunning as it is. Kudos to the owner for taking such good care of it.
I’m a Lambo guy and I do like the Gallardo with that V10. With that said, I would have to go with the 911 over it. I know people will kill me for this, but the Gallardo interior is just too dated for me! I still may get one, but it will be my fun car from time to time.
Given the age... You cant deny the aftermarket options for the 991.2. A set of turbos and a tune and you are over 600hp. Still not the same league of theater, but definitely the grown up choice.
This is literally the question I was asking myself yesterday - I own a 981 cayman and have been looking at some 911s and just sat in a 2004 Gallardo last night
I have a GT4 and a gated Gallardo. When I want to go on a drive, I grab keys to the Porsche, when I want to really experience a drive, I grab the keys to the Lambo. It's hard to beat driving the Gallardo on a perfect day on the back roads.
@@ryanc4955 so it’s a tough comparison, the logical side of my brain says that the porsches are literally better in every single measurable way - dramatically better build quality, reliability, tighter of a drive and more predictable. but the lamborghini wins in emotion and experience everytime, truly brings a sense of occasion- the way i see it is that if you only can have one car, go for the porsche - but if youre looking for a weekend car, maybe go for the lamborghini if minor/occasionally expensive reliability issues don’t scare you i daily a mazda turbo’d hatchback and am heavily considering a gallardo now for the weekend
Both very cool cars, and yet, no way I would trade my 2023 C8 Corvette HTC 3LT for either of them. Exotic enough, plenty of power (and torque!), definitely daily drivable, great handling, hard top roof down in 15 seconds, DCT gearbox almost at the level of the PDK, awesome suspension (mag ride), front lift, very nice interior with excellent tech, I mean, come on...
The C8 is definitely a better car then either of these overall, though I bet the 911 is comfier and can be had with a manual. The Lambo is much more exotic and sounds better, though I don't think it's worth the reliability issues for an e-gear car. Biggest thing for me is that the C8 isn't as good looking as either of these.
@@AmosDohms Matter of taste regarding looks. To me, I would agree the Lambo looks better, but the C8 looks way better that a 911, it's not even close (objectively, people will INVARIABLY look at the C8 and comment positively, while totally ignoring 911s - unless you are a 911 fan to start with). Also, 911 comfier? I would not necessarily agree with that statement, especially with mag ride on the C8.
TAKE IT FROM ME!! Get the newer car!!!!! 4.5 years ago I traded my V10 R8 for an 08 Gallardo Superleggera (Never should have done this). Iwanted that true exotic/Supercar experience. While the thought of owning a, "Lamborghini" was awesome, it's not a good car and after the years, i just didnt want to drive it anymore. Newer cars have come so far that the newer cars are better. More reliable, faster or as fast, more comfortable etc. My Pre-LP Superleggera didn't sound good until I put the LOC exhaust on it. The transmission is horrible! Slow speed sucks! Seaks and gaskets continued to leak. Switches stopped working, etc. When things break down in the older cars, its still really expensive. I just traded my Superleggera for a brand new 24' Z06. This newer car hands down destroys my older Lambo in every category. However, I dont get the heads turning now because its not a Lambo. My new Z06 is faster, smoother, looks better, better technology, MPG, maintenance, etc. but people dont take photos of it but they always took photos of my older Lambo. So it all depends on what youre looking for....
These two appear to be on the medium side. I'm 6'3", and in a Gallardo my knees are behind the steering wheel. So much so that it's not really practical to do high speed maneuvers using the Hand to Hand steering method. Now, my legs are longer than average for my height, so that may not be as bad for others over 6ft. But, I was also essentially touching everything around the seat. My left side was against the door(waist size 35). Left leg against the door, right leg also touching the center console. My head, well, I couldn't sit up straight. So, the interior is of an Italian nature too... 😀
Porsche is the choice. The Lamborghini will always make you poorer for owning it. The Lamborghini is like a beautiful woman: you feel good in the short term, but you have no idea when it will end. And it will end.
Gallardo sounds great but let’s be honest - it’s a 2004 VAG product underneath with some Italian sprinkles. VAG stuff from that generation is utter junk. I’m going 911 (in a different color) all day
Ooof. Car journo’s, let’s leave the foreign accents to the professionals, ‘kay? I have yet to hear a good one from a car journo other than Clarkson, May and Hammond. The rest are invariably super cringe.
your friends would "mock " you for a base Carerra... ??? thats where i left... what kind if an a hole would do that ?? goofy ass doug ?? LOL *** OUT OF TOUCH WITH HUMAITY ALERT GET BETTER FRIENDS>..
Great content, as always! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
