I can't believe you taught us all how to boil an egg! Very cute, though. I didn't know about the freezing. I've known about egg yolk for fifty years, but I just pressed it through a handkerchief. I'll try freezing next time I need it. Thank you for sharing.

I also use egg Luke, bit I cook it different. I seperate the egg yolk, & mix the raw egg yolk with spirulina powder, then I cook in the microwave for about 2 minutes(until cooked). I’ve only feed it fresh, never thought about freezing it. Awesome idea! I’ve also just bought some gelatin to see if I can make it into a gel. Cheers🇦🇺❤️

2nd one to comment on🥳😁! Mate, you are very authentic and sympathetic. 👌 Tell me again pls : You remove the white from the yolk, break it in pieces and put it in the freezer? And keep it all the time in there? For feeding, just crush it to powder? How long can I feed the babies with the egg? Especially the black one? Till they will manage brine shrimps? Recognized any deficiency symptoms?

Woohoo!!! Congrats, David🥳 Thank you so much I really appreciate it. Yes, it is as simple as that 👍 I usually only feed them the egg yolk for the first 1 to 4 days free swimming as they benefit more off the BBS once they can actually eat it 😄 There are no deficiency symptoms at all. All my Rams are in tip top shape and grow to be very large. That’s the great thing about the yolk is that it has a lot stronger f what they require for growth in those initial stages 👍

@@JustinsFishRoom Sounds gorgeous Justin 👌👌👌😍 If I only had known that a couple of years ago 😌. The fry didn't manage to eat fresh brine shrimps and died 😌. Can you tell me the Name of your brine shrimps you hatch? Are they San Franciscos? Heard there are some, that are really small and can be eaten by the fry very soon.. If you don’t mind, we could exchange our experiences on WhatsApp, Signal or Telegramm.. If so, just hit me a pm here. 😉Sunny greetings from Western Germany.

@@MrDaviduck I use Ocean Nutrition but I have used a range of other brands. As long as they can assure you have a minimum hatch rate of 91% I'm usually open to whatever is available at the time. I don't have those platforms but please feel free to contact me on Instagram at justins_fishroom. Thanks, and welcome from sunny South East Queensland Australia!!!

Very cool method Justin! Never thought of feeding the fry by dipping my finger in the water so it all gets pushed around in the water column. Keep it up man! 👍

Another awesome video Justin! Random question, what age do you reckon is retirement age for a GBR or is it more about how many spawns they have produced in their lifetime? Thanks again for the work you put into these.
@JustinsFishRoom
@JustinsFishRoom 2 года назад
Hi there, Tim! Thank you - it means so much:) That is actually a great question. I usually retire my rams when a few things start happening. 1) When the male and/or female begins physically not coping with spawns (i.e. loosing colour during spawning etc.), 2) the Ram pair are usually around a year old I will have had other spawns grown out and will move onto the next improved individuals from those spawns, or 3) the fish are just not laying as often as they used to. Hope this helps. I hope you have a great day:)

Certainly good information, but I would have appreciated a bit more detail on the process of actually processing the egg yolk, getting it ready for fish and your feeding regimen. But, I do know how to boil an egg already, so I can see how that would be helpful for some.
@B1gJ4k3
@B1gJ4k3 2 года назад
Also, I find that steaming the egg in a steamer basket (if you have one) for 10-12 minutes followed by the ice bath makes them much easier to peel.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s just mostly to show how simple it is to make - just boil an egg, freeze it and then once it is freeze dried into a powder you can feed it 🙂👍
@raisinbranman
@raisinbranman 2 года назад
@@JustinsFishRoom you can also dissolve the cooked yolk in water, but it won't last near as long as freeze dried
@JustinsFishRoom
@JustinsFishRoom 2 года назад
@@raisinbranman Yeah, I used to do this but it only last a few days as opposed to a couple weeks doing this other method. I just love how simple and easy it is!!!
