In this video I will show you how I installed Amazon LED Halo's into my 2013 Ford Fusion. I remove the bumper and open up the headlight is a complete DIY manner. This is not necessarily a how to but I do show the process of installing halos. To give you a sense of how long it takes to install a halo this took me about 30 minutes for one light.

I made this video in hopes of convincing someone that is on the edge of building their own headlights to take the plunge! Such a simple (and cheap) mod that completely changes the appearance of the car.

It’s about 99% good. One ring is perfect the other has 1 or 2 leds that died. Not noticeable though since the leds are so close

You took apart the bumper seamlessly, it didn't even loom like you removed those brackets under the wheel well, do you just leave them off?

How did you wire everything up under the hood? I grabbed the exact same set you did for the fog lights I have. I just want the amber look, so I'm worried about how to fix everything up

I bought a pair of halos from diode dynamics for my 14 fusion, more than likely a lot better quality and durability than the ones from amazon. I shall find out!

I am thinking of getting these. Could they work with the morimoto xbt controller. Just need a 4 pin plug but can’t tell if this has it or if the controller it comes with it required

Is there a way to show how I can remove the headlight reflector marker? There’s no videos of how to remove it & you did it super fast!! Please could you show me how?

Are you referring to the orange reflector on the side or something else?

@@JaedenSoFresh If I remember correctly it is just snapped in place. If you remove the circuit board from the back you should see the little tabs sticking through. Be careful though with the board because if you break it you may not be able to get a replacement. If you watch on a computer you can slow down the playback speed to .25 and you will see that I use 2 small flat screw drivers. Hopefully this will help.

Do they just wire straight up to the positive terminal on the battery? Looking to get these for my RAM 1500....

I wired mine to the parking lights. You don’t want them on constant power from the battery. The easiest place in my opinion is the parking lights. Then the splice is close and you could in theory still remove the headlights without extra wires

Where do you wire the rings too? Directly to the headlight wires for the parking light?

I used the wires for the little t-10 bulb in the high beam reflector. I got rid of that bulb and used the wires for the halo only

@@ChadMees would it be a bad idea to splice open the headlight wires and soldering to add accessories like halo lights or t-tapping? I’m worried about the headlight drawing to much resistance or causing a short I’m trying to add some drl that also are sequential turn signals, my hopes are to just tap into the headlights themselves so I don’t have to use a power all the way to the fuse box Also did you solder them or t-tap?

I think you will be fine. The halos don’t draw much power and I can’t imagine any of the DRL strips do either. I just spliced the wires because I didn’t care about having the bulb connector anymore

@@ChadMees thank you so much! I will see how it goes, I have a 16 Ford Fusion and I want to mod my headlights and rail lights but have 0 knowledge of wiring so I’m learning as much as I can. I will try soldering the wires to parking lights and turn signal straight from the headlight and see how it goes! Thank you! Any pointers would help! Did you solder your wires?

Personally I did not solder the wires I just twisted them together in an X pattern so they couldn’t pull apart and heat shrinked them. Head over to 2gfusions.net there is a tutorial/write up explaining how to open these lights. If you are using your OEM lights they are a real pain to open the first time. Aftermarket housings are easy and use butyl rubber which is what I used to reseal my factory lights. It took me a good 5 hours to open mine the first time!

These are 80mm for the headlight and I used Jeep LED fog lights with halos for my fogs. Check my channel for the video of that. Very easy mod. Also links in the description for the exact halos I used

If I buy the lights like these from amazon can ford install them me? Or am I better of going elsewhere I can’t do it myself

Ford will not do this for you. You will have to find someone that can. Some aftermarket shops may do it but it’s a pretty specific job. If you are talking about buying the entire headlight housing then Ford might do it but it would be cheaper at a smaller shop

You may be able to do it yourself. There are several videos showing how to remove the front bumper. You can do it with basic hand tools! It is a bit of a pain but very doable! Good luck!

Funny enough the one I didn’t replace in this video finally died. I replaced it with the other one from the pair I ordered in this video and they are both going strong. Cheap halos are hit or miss. If you do it I’d definitely recommend buying a higher quality pair!

Took me several hours as well the first time. I just slowly worked it with a heat gun. Unfortunately there isn’t any real trick to it

I just Bought eBay ones they open like butter vs the OEM cold glue they use, I did manage to retrofit my OEM with morimoto projectors but I was in a rush and wanted to do halos and led strip etc.. so I bought new ones to work on them with time and when done slap 👋them on

Where did you buy the headlight assembly? I wanted to get some off of eBay from China but I don’t know how it works, idk how to wire, I wonder if it’s just plug and play.

I actually made them. They are the original lights that I opened up and painted the inside black while upgrading the projector and added the halos. Very time consuming but I don’t like any of the aftermarket options. The only one I like is the full LED Mondeo lights you can get from eBay or aliexpress. They should be plug and play

It is expensive to have this work done by someone else. That’s why I did it myself. If you have the factory LED headlights there isn’t a whole lot you can do unfortunately. If you have the factory halogen lights then you can get the halos but again the labor to open the lights will be expensive if you pay someone else

@@ChadMees beat method to figuring out what voltage the headlight should be giving off? I want to mod my Ford Fusion 2016 but I don’t want to cause electrics fires

Use a volt meter to test points you want to connect to. Most connections will be 12v except the little led board on the side for the turn signal. All the bulbs will get 12v

Why don't you stop buying cheap Amazon ones so you don't have to keep replacing them so often. I've learned the hard way so instead bought a pair of Oracles or Flashtechs. For my car there like $200 but everytime I pay the cheap $30 they A. Suck and B. Don't last. You'd be amazed of the quality of the brands I mentioned plus the warranty. Just an fyi
