I have heard that chrome is very difficult to work with. You have to be very careful with stretching or you will discolor it and have glue lines visible
@ChadMees not to mention every time I get to the edges it has literally un manageable wrinkles where it wants to go in impossible directions without lifting the whole thing an trying again and this has happened 3 panels now
Not sure if you still check this video but this was a great help. There is just one thing I am stuck on. For the MS can bus connection I get pin 10,11 to the fcim and 6,7 from the passenger seat but I can't figure out the pins for the driver seat. Do you by chance remember what they were?
Check the pins 10 and 11. This is correct for the drivers seat connector. The pins on the fcim connector are pins 17 and 18. Pin 17 is MSCAN High and 18 is MSCAN Low
Not necessarily but it’s the easiest. You could tap into the MSCAN elsewhere but it’s easiest to tie the two seats together then splice into the FCIM connector like I did.
@@ChadMees I tried to post a comment with an imgur link but I think it got auto deleted. Essentially my question is on the 2020 seats they moved the front seat climate control module to the driver seat. So there are no ms can wires that make a direct connection based on the connectors on the passenger seat anymore. So I only need to go into the MS can connectors on my driver side.
Just sending a follow up I just connected the 6,7 and fcim and 10,11 pins and everything works!! Thanks again for this video. It gave me the confidence to do it myself! I really appreciate it!
Has anyone tried it on 2017 Continental Reserve? 2020 Continental TCU has different part number than the Fusion (JD9T-14G229-AL) and it also has 2 antenna connectors(pink/purple and yellow/mustard). I’m assuming purple is the 4G and yellow is the SiriusXM. Current 2017 TCU doesn’t have any antenna connectors.
I will record a video when the weather gets nicer. I tried to record one before the winter weather started but my audio was messed up. Biggest upgrade has been the Holley efi system!
Hi Chad. Amazing work. 2 questions. How do i access the menu in forscan to carry out the coding changes? Second, the codes you posted for your fusion, would they be the same for my 2015 Kuga? I believe you guys call this model escape! Thank you
I’m not sure on the Kuga. It is programmed on a different architecture if I recall correctly. FORScan can modify some of the asbuilt for your car but not all. I believe your programming is more similar to the Focus and can be accessed through the FOCCus software. I’m not 100% sure that’s the name of it but the CC stands for the architecture of the system
@@ChadMees thanks, just looked into it, think I'll just use forscan. Can I ask where you located the as built information to enable lane departure etc.? Thanks
I’m glad you like it! Most people think this was built to replace a full size skid steer which of course it wasn’t. This was built for fun mostly but to also have a tool that is versatile for around the yard
I believe that you can swap the TCU without a ton of programming but I could be wrong. This process is for cars that had the 2g or 3g modem to start with. You may be able to get a TCU with the same part number and drop It in then factory reset your sync system it it may work
I have a 2017 MKZ Select that never had a modem in the first place (it was an option for that trim, standard on higher trim levels). What do you think the odds are that they made them all have the capability to have one, and left it up to the buyer to choose whether to get one, then just hook one up if they did? I'm thinking it could be doable if all those connections are there, just no modem.
I’m not sure the exact wiring for it but I know it can be added to vehicles that didn’t originally support them. It would likely require some splices in a couple of connectors or wires.
I have 2014 energi Titanium, recently replaced power steering, I’m trying to do the Line keep assist calibration using forescan. During the scan at 30% it says procedure interrupted. I’m using OBD2 USB ELMconfig FoCCCus Diagnostic Scan Tool with MS-Can/HS-Can Switch connected to forscan computer. I suspect that MS/HS unit that I’m using can do this procedure!!!! What is the unit that you used to do your calibration? Will appreciate the purchase link. Thanks
If you do figure out how to get it to work with the Energi please let me know. I have a 2017 & just left a Ford dealer today & asked about fixing/upgrading the modem. They told me for a while they did but then stopped supporting it.
I'm not gonna video it but his is what I'm gonna do. I'm not gonna video this either but this is what I'm gonna do... oh and do this but I'm not gonna video it. smh.
Hello, Chad. We just reached out to you via email for inquiring an opportunity of Auto LEDs product review, hope hear from you to see what we could do.
