I love the time of year where the entire music community comes together to hate on the grammy’s as the show does nothing to change because they make enough money to not care
I already know that Jack Harlow’s PR team has been hard at work on writing the most humble, culturally respectful speech possible in case he wins Best Rap Album. There’s no way they weren’t studying the Macklemore incident and thinking “ok, how can we best avoid this?” Because the ramifications are very real.
Wow - I can't believe those predictions were completely wrong, they sounded so sound Best Album went to Harry's House Best Song to Bonnie Raitt Best Record to Lizzo and Best New Artist to Samara Joy None of whom were mentioned as likely winners, whom Mic wanted to win, or in fact wild cards
I want ABBA and Björk to win their first Grammy’s ever this year. Both influential music legends with zero wins. Don’t shut me down is a great song honestly.
I was just thinking about how I wouldn't be able to live without Mic The Snare making another video leading up to the 2023 Grammys so I'm really happy that Mic The Snare made another video leading up to the 2023 Grammys!
JID's forever story was by far the best hip hop album this year, and maybe the best album this year. It should have gotten a nomination at least over God Didd, or Jack Harlow's record.
i remember watching last year's grammys and was laughing when Jon won, mainly because it looked like even he didn't think he would win album of the year
On that note, I mean he just said he didn’t deserve to win Album of the Year yet somehow we’re supposed to be happy that someone who didn’t deserve to win won just because he’s black? What kind of logic is that? Yeah it’s a beautiful thing if a POC wins and that streak ends especially as a POC myself but what kind of hypocrites are we when we celebrate it “breaking the streak” when they didn’t deserve the win? This seems like pandering and virtue signalling honestly, which isn’t a good look.
Kendrick has to win at least one award. I know the award usually goes to the most popular song played but Heart Part 5 is incredible (also Mr Morale is a incredible album and it would be insane if it won)
The fact Music of The Spheres being nominated means Grammy wise, it's as good as Everyday Life and I will never live that down and it will haunt me til the end of time.
i think the main reason coldplay is getting nominated this year is mostly because the grammys love to honor legacy artists, and also bc u can't really go wrong with an inoffensive/benign (i don't mean this negatively) pop album with a positive message. My more insane person conspiracy theory is that a possible bonus reason for them being nominated could be because the grammys also want to nominate bts again since they upset so many people by giving best pop/duo performance to Rain On Me in 2020.
@@mayacollette the rain on me win never made sense to me, and it never will - THERE WAS ONE PERFORMANCE OF THE SONG…. but i don’t care for the grammys much and again i never have.
As a Måneskin fan, I'm not expecting them to win and love that they're your chaos pick. A win for them would buck all kinds of trends, mainly cause a win for them is a loss for Anitta and Latto. BNA has gone to a solo female artist five years in a row (the last band to win was Fun in 2013), and it'd be a rock act beating out Latin and rap, two of the biggest genres in American music at the moment. You bring up the mixed reviews for their album, but considering Grammy voting closed on January 4th and the album came out on January 20th, it probably didn't play a big role in voters' minds. I'll still be pulling for them tonight, I'll be bummed but understanding if they lose and be hysterically happy if they win
I would not underestimate Måneskin as a potential pick for Best New Artist. They had a great year, played a huge amount of shows internationally and their album, that recently came out is also really good in my opinion.
and from what I've seen, they've been networking the hell out of LA during their time there this last year, so if it isn't Wet Leg, it's definitely Måneskin
I don't know if Måneskin would be such a wild pick for best artist. They have managed to stay pretty relevant after their Eurovision win I feel and seemed to have been pretty busy during the last year. And I might be biased because I generally like their music but the new album has some strong songs and is very fun overall. Don't know if that matters much to the Grammys if the reviews are bad, but I wanted to put it out there because I think it's worth checking out :)
Im brazilian and while I don’t think Anitta’s music is really great, having a Brazilian artist being nominated for the Grammys for the first time since decades is something that warms my heart
So happy for Brazil but Anitta is awful. In her shows she's not able of sing! Not a only note. She only speaks in the mic with the playback. She can't dance and seems like she's only good in twerk. She hasn't musical talent but her real talent is the comedy. She's a great personality very honest and funny. She would be a stand up comedy star. It sad that Anitta represents Brazil music now coz the beautiful, incredible talents and music that this giant country has. One of the most rich cultural countries with a lot of genres and legendary artists. The problem that Anitta herself said is that the majority of brazilian artist don't want put their music in the international market coz they are happy with the brazilian market that are giant for the size of the country and the enough money they have only from Brazil. Anitta is the only that puts her music to international market and is the reason that she gots awards like mtv or grammys coz is the only brazilian in the international market even when she's 0 musical talent. The only good thing about this is maybe Anitta is opening the door for more brazilian artist push a international career. Brazil needs get more recognition for its incredible music and culture of an amazing country with amazing people.
tbh, im more excited for the Grammys after this one. There are SO MANY hyped albums coming out this year and that have already come out in this window that I hope are good and make the cut.
Gayle was nominated after consulting with a previous Song of the Year nominee that confirmed that Gayle does indeed have "That yummy-yum, that yummy-yum, that yummy yummy."
I'm on team Let Beyoncé Get Something, likewise Lamar. I don't want Harlow to win not only because of your point of him being like Macklemore, but he's like a lesser Macklemore. Retroactive gaming awards? I vote Sonic CD, both versions.
Kinda surprised you didn’t mention Arcade Fire’s nomination for Best Alternative Music Album, despite the numerous allegations against Win Butler that came out months before the nominations were announced.
As usual the hip-hop categories snubbed the best records, but I'm still happy to see some veterans nominated for albums that were great. JID was the biggest miss.
At this point, Björk will just never win a Grammy tbh. She’s past her heyday/creative peak, if none of her definitive releases won, there’s just no hope for anything else she will make in the future. Which is fine! She’ll forever be remembered as a true original, one of the best to have ever done it... She’s given us tonnes of incredible music to last us (and her too) a lifetime. She’ll probably win a Lifetime Achievement Award at some point, but let’s not hold our breath for it!
There were so many good rap albums released last year, JID's Forever Story, Danger Mouse & Black Thought's Cheat Codes and Freddie Gibbs' $$$ for example. It makes no sense that DJ Khaled's compilation of an album gets nominated
The fact that the actual winners for all 4 categories aren’t even mentioned at all across your predictions OR who you’d like to win shows a more chaotic Grammys than you could have ever imagined, my friend…
Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti wouldn’t be the first album not in english to win, in 1965 Getz/Gilberto won album of the year for an album predominantly sung in portuguese.
I'm impressed how the Grammy's have become SO bad that all the winners were selections you didn't even mention. Like there quite literally was no thought into the winners, feels like they threw darts at a board and that's who they picked.
I discovered Molly Tuttle last year stumbling upon a RU-vid video of her "Live at Grimey's" - it's all solo acoustic bluegrass covers of Rancid, Grateful Dead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, FKA Twigs, and Arthur Russell - sounds horrific on paper but is just so, so good. Saw her live a few months later, such a killer band, and the way they're making bluegrass accessible without being a cheesy marketing thing is really cool. I'm just glad she's getting attention.
7:05 so f*cking HARRY'S HOUSE won album of the year, this isn't even the best Harry Styles album, imagine album of the year competing with Mr Morale and Renaissance
Now do a video reacting to the winners because not only were you off (which I was too because I predicted Adele would win song and album of the year, harry styles would win record of the year, and Omar Apollo would win new artist) but not even your chaos picks were right lol
they also added a new category that you didn’t mention; best song for social change which “baraye” by Shervin Hajipour won! the song was inspired by the revolution currently happening in Iran. as an Iranian, it meant a lot 💙
