Kan! Interesting fact. You can link a turntable to the roundhouse tracks so it's perfectly aligned vertically for when you get to making engine storage

If you set the weather to anything that makes it snow, the snow will accumulate on the tracks. You don't _need_ to clear it, but both plows will clear it.

They even had a special shovel known as a grain shovel. These shovels are now generally made out of sheet metal and fiberglass. These are probably the best snow and ice shovels you will find. And if you bugger up the edge too much you can just cut it off

The April update is going to have where you can change switches from the map. They are going to Improve FPS. Plus you will be able to see your track ,engines and rolling stock on the map.

13:05 I don't know how credible this is because it's internet information, but I saw somewhere that most speedometer gauges are designed to put the top speed near the top of the dial so it's easier to see. I wish they would do a different one for the geared locos because the Shay does just over 5mph on it's own power, and the Climax does about 9. 11 with reverser but flat ground doesn't exist in Aurora Falls.

I just noticed at 3:44 that moving the reverser in the UI actually moves the connecting rod down the side of the engine and the valve gear underneath. Neat bit of realism.

If you want snow for your snowplows just set the weather to snowing.

It was 5 grain, 5 straw bales, and 10 water to make 2 cows. Started with 8, 8, and 36 after unloading.

I had a bit of an anyeurism over the Knuckles on the D&RG Class 25/Montezuma and the Gregg Cars is absurd, it looks like the developers were afraid to have the knuckles too lose on the cars so they stuck them out very far so they wouldn't derail on curves but ended up overcompensating. And then the knuckles don't reach out over the pilots of many a locomotive.

Please be sure to save often while on the beta. It crashes quite often from interacting with couplers, brakes, and possibly other causes.

Probably should be unloading two of the waters at the wheat farm some of the time and one at the other times. You used 10 water for the two cows, so two water cars for the cattle farm every other trip keeps the water tank full until you change the car lineup. This will at least keep the wheat farm going with some water.

They actually got the Eureka & Palisade #4 “Eureka” up to 45 mph once, but the water in the tender sloshed around so violently it was a miracle it didn’t come off the rails from the inertia of the water moving around. If not for that limitation, they think Eureka could have reached 60 mph. The water tank in tenders back then were very simple and notorious for causing derailments when the water started moving. Heck, a tender’s water even caused a high speed express train to derail just after WWII - covered by “Part-time Explorer” on his channel. Water is heavy, and it will go where it wants. It makes sense that the water won’t go into the tender. It hasn’t been treated yet, it’s raw well water. You can’t just put water in the tender, let alone into the boiler. It has to be filtered and treated first to reduce build up, scale, and particulates since they could clog a critical component and lead to an energetic rapid unscheduled disassembly of the locomotive. However, people and animals can and do drink raw well water… but would be poisoned from drinking treated locomotive water. So, even though it’s just simply game coding: it actually holds water when compared to real life.

The theodolite addition looks amazing. A really useful tool that can actually help planning and laying out your future routes, in the process simulating and illustrating the usefulness of theodolites IRL I imagine. I am looking forward to seeing you play around with them @kAN Overall very cool update!

I would love a feature which would let you slightly move the track once you have placed it and even connected to it

Yes, 752F firebox temperature is 400C. And 337F is 170C, also a reasonably nice round number.

22:11 About the gauge. I believe the tip of the pointer is actually what points to your speed, and not the part intersecting with the dial. when the pointer looked like it was slightly above 15, the tip of the pointer was around 17, so most likely you did make it to 22 mph.

For the snowplow, the devs added in Dynamic snow, so the snow piles up on the track, allowing for the usage of the snowplows. As for small cattle cars, there aren't any that are known at the moment, but there are small designs that could carry something like two cows.

Favorite part of the new update is the fast mode in retail. I find myself jumping out of the cab, center clicking and choosing retail just so I can run fast and fly, right clicking to get out, flipping a switch, and then repeating the process to run fast back to the cab!

In real trains the water for the engine is treated. I believe it is to keep it from corroding the tender and boiler. Hyce put a video on his channel a while back talking about engines and water.

There is a new turntable, as well, that is big enough to fit the new 2-8-2 locomotive. Iirc the turntable will snap to the roundhouse tracks.

If you want money, just connect the logging camp and sawmill and deliver lumber first to the freight depot and then through the smelter to the iron mine. Then you get hoppers and all the money you can hope. I have three limas and like a 120 cars total after under a week of playing.

To do everything in one trip, it would be good to have a train containing at least 3 of each carriage to be able to have more cows, and regarding the production of hay and grains, it would be good to have more zones that are a little more separated, With the new tools and constructions you can make a train suitable for this heavy type of travel

When the knuckle couplers come to the main branch I'll be using them all the time I'm tired of having to couple individual cars

You have got to try building a Rail depot with a 8 way Roundhouse & repair shed

The roundhouses do tile together and look nice from the outside. The interior gets messed up though.

the cattle car is a tier 5 car, and I think you need a tier 5 engine to be able to purchase it (last time I tried to buy a higher tier car than my engine and it wouldnt let me idk if that is still the case)

I heard you can travel in time if you get a train up to 88 MPH.

"farenheit is for your oven" might be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in the temperature scale wars. Once you're well into triple digits theres no benefit or real difference between either of them. The cake box could just say like 165 instead of 325

How do you get the game to run so smoothly? My setup is an i5-12600k and 3060Ti, but my trains are still very jittery.
