@@MysteryBaker made pasties to your recipe come out better than Gregg's ( my sister's verdict) and if I say so myself they were better ......that combination of red Leicester and mature cheddar was spot on 👌💯
Hi Everyone, hope everyone is well..... Here's my take on the classic Cheese & Onion Pasty and I've tried to replicate Greggs the baker's recipe - Hope you enjoy! xxx
Gregg make a stottie in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. I so miss them, when I go up north on holiday I freeze as many as I can then bring them home. Birdy
Thank you so much for your recipe and presentation. I'm currently making the pasties to eat while we watch the England v Italy game tomorrow. We moved to the States a while ago and when I asked my children what they would like to eat for game day food they wanted cheese and onion pasties. I'll let you know how they turn out and go England.
My pleasure Shelagh, ooooh perfect taste of home! Your children will be delighted!! Please let me know how the pasties went down! Come on England 🇬🇧 ❤🇬🇧
Made some tonight. Took me longer than I thought it would, but I have the same trouble with every recipe I make. :-) Going to put one in the oven later and see how I've done. May have used to much mustard. Hope it's ok to freeze them before they go in the oven to keep for later because it's going to take me ages to eat them all. Ran out of pastry so the left over filling will replace mashed tatties tomorrow.
@@MysteryBaker i just made it for dinner it turned out amazing, exactly like greggs. The best, im glad you mentioned the size that it was around 12 cms which helped as its been 15 yrs i haven't had a greggs, living abroad you cant find it. I also liked the tip ypu gave if you keep it in the oven for too long the filling may spill these are small tips but so vital in helping and understanding baking tricks , im a pretty good cook but we all forget or in some cases its a first when making it like today. thankyou please keep this going lots of love from dubai xxx
@@sbe8621 Thank you so much for such positive feedback, it's always great to hear how people get on with following my recipes. Hope it brought a little nostalgia of the UK. Merry Christmas to you and your family in Dubai xx
Can l ask why you don’t add all the ingredients to your bowl at once?? That way can mash every thing together which would save time and far. Just say’n🇬🇧🇬🇧👍😊🤷
If you add the cold ingredients (cream cheese and milk) at the same time as hard cheese, it won't melt the hard cheese as easily.. and I'm trying to replicate the exact texture of a greggs pasty. Hope that answers your question xx
I checked the ingredients before making this and there is no rosemary in their recipe. Plus my interpretation of their pasty tastes exactly like theirs too. X
Thanks they lok alot nicer than greggs pasties .when you have a pasty or pie you have got to have a lot of filling the is nothing worse than having a pie pasty with little filling in it
@@MysteryBaker I'm going to have a go at the bacon and cheese wraps I think they are called its only a square of pastry you lie the bacon corner to corner with cheese at the bottom and fold the other corners together they ae nice ive had them from aldi freezer section love fran xx
@@MysteryBaker thanks i have made choc concrete few times..... sometimes it comes out spot on...... other times ? I have found recipe with exact quantities of ingredients( student cooking guide RU-vid) so will try it out soon 👍😀
The recipe is great but please stop banging that masher on the pan all the time (you're giving me a headache) & use a large dinner fork to mix in all the other ingredients after the initial mashing, too much mashing makes the potato gluey. Thank you.
