Liberace gives Cher, (as ‘Laverne'), a tour of his Hollywood Hills mansion for an episode of ‘The Sonny and Cher Show’ in 1974. At the end of this wonderful episode you'll also find some production photos. Don't miss...
I'm 57 now and I'm not sure why, but lately, I have been interested in learning more about this man. He really enjoyed his flamboyant lifestyle and that was his trademark, but I sense a man with much deeper ideas. There's no telling what his real life was like and what he had to deal with. He could sure make beautiful sound come out of that piano. His world was full of bright glittery lights and luxury and beautiful music. Not a bad world to visit from time to time.
SuperPussyFinger - So said Scot Thorson who had an axe to grind and a movie to promote. I don’t believe anything that Thorson says, he’s a gold digger. He also said that Liberace got him into drugs, another slur that isn’t credible. It’s easy to tell tales about someone who is dead. If you want to believe him that’s your privilege but I don’t.
@@BobK5 I believe the truth is somewhere tilted towards mr Liberace and rightfully so. but Scott did have some legitimate grievances . In the end Liberace is no longer with us but agree what a tremendous talent. Seen him as a teenager live in 1977 outrageous costumes undeniable talent. He was so nice with the audience a complete profession .
Beside having this beautiful man tattooed on my back I have that exact Black/Gold piano also tattooed and even his necklace that's how crazy I was about that man. What a personality and talante.
I'm sure he was most remembered for his softest touch command of the keys. Infectious smile, gentle demeanor. ..and Of course, signature candelabras. A bit too showy of his ( riches ) though. , I'm sure my Dad ( who LOVED his playing ) basically considered him a comedian. Think I agree. And I Always thought him pretty Cool- in the 60s and 70s right amongst all the folk and psychedelia of our day.... One of a kind !! Lee Lives !!!
He was all goodness. Cher adored him, I know she did. He had many friends that were closet gays like Merv Griffin, and others. He was a treasure playing Mozart in heaven, probably one of his besties in heaven. He entertained us till his entrance into heaven.
this is a video that should never be lost -Cher is Superstar what hasn't she done movies -had her own Talk Show etc Libarace Way ahead of his Time how many Artist copied him check the cars out this was way before my time its a Must to Watch December 2020
Liberace Was A Genius Of The Piano. Exquisite Piano Playing. Every Tender Note A Delight To The Ear. What A Beautifull Man He Was. Always Smiling, Always Kind. I Would Love To Have Met Him. I Hope Your Still Playing Up Their In Heaven My Friend. Thank You For Being With Us On Earth For The Time You Were With Us. We Will Always Love You.
A spectacular and a hauntingly beautiful version of Barbara Streisand song, "The Way we Were." Mr. Liberace🎼🎹 you will be missed. Rest in Peace Piano man.💕
I love Liberace. He is so talented and cool. I love his great sense of humor and personality. He was also a handsome man. I loved him, when I was a little girl. Rest In Peace Liberace. You are truly loved and missed. ❤️🌹❤️
As I child growing up in the eighties, I was totally enamored with Liberace. There will never be another Lee Liberace, few would argue. My Uncle Ron did the rout iron work at Lee's Las Vegas home and was able to get an 8x12 signed autograph of Liberace from him to me. Hee even drew the candelabra and the grand piano. This was my treasure. Then somehow I lost it? This devastated me, especially after Mr. Showmanship passed. Breaks my heart to even think about it. Lee, we miss you. -Brian
At a small town Auction there was an autographed post card on the back side of his home: “To Loretta, Love, Liberace 1963” also has the drawing of the piano and Candelabra. The opening bid was $5 five dollars, no one else bid so I own it now for five bucks. It’s in the house, I need to dig that out and display it.
Always loved him! I am in my 60s, somewhere in my late 20s me & my mama went to one of his concerts...the stage was round & went in circles (very slowly) w/ just Liberace & his piano, he had on a pink glass outfit & was showing everyone his rings, he was extremely charming...he loved what he did & we loved witnessing it! Aww the good old days of REAL musicians!
Hi Cher - (Laverne), I thought I had seen every Utube video of you and Liberace. I was wrong. This was great!!! 😘 I have seen you both in concert in my 20's, then again in my 60's. FANTASTIC!!!! I was living with a fella who had a great sense of humor, & he purchased the subscription tickets at the 'Garden State Arts Center'. (Towards the shore). They have artists who are there every year, then if there's a group of bands you if you want to see (mostly rock - we took the kids) my oldest was born when Chaz was. Anyway, usually I dressed very sparkly (got to dress for the occasion). when we drove down to see Liberace. He wasn't sick yet. After about the sixth year, (he was wearing cut-offs & drinking), at the intermission, Liberace did his usual talk of "come down & see my jewels - you bought them." Jim leaned over to me all sparkly & said, "if you don't go to the stage & see him, I'll never take you again."I Uh oh! I looked over to the main aisle, & it was mostly people my grandparents age. Using walkers & going very slowly. I had on silver flats & I scampered down the side aisle. I got there first, so he played his shtick to me. I be told him I took 15 yrs of piano lessons, & he said, "would you like to dance?". Steps came out & he helped me up & the orchestra started. We danced a short Strauss Waltz. He smelled great! I think that beats my wedding as the most exciting day in my life. Well, I did win 4 tickets from Cousin Brucie to see The Beatles at the original Shea Stadium. Great! However Liberce was an experience! He had "the Dancing Waters". And I danced with him!!!!! And I ate mushrooms on the drive down (first time fried like that) Thanks Cher!! ❤️
How did he take an overplayed song I never cared much for and turn it into something so touching and personal? That man was magical. And Cher is a joy, as always.
He was a great entertainer, but no-one thinks he was anything other than a very middling pianist. I think Rachmaninoff would have laughed at him but possibly respected his way to make money from over-the-top showmanship.
Thank you for sharing. I have not seen this since it was first run in 1975. I love Char as Laverne, driving up to Libby's house in her DeLuxe 1957 Dodge. What a laugh! 💋
I miss the best piano player ever - Liberace! We did tour the Liberace Museum in Vegas which is now closed. Believe a gentleman from England(?) purchased the home and is bringing it back the way it was and will do tours!
The world will never have another, truly talented, I can watch him play forever it’s like art, So much love in his performance, we truly need more like him
Liberace was a very special and gifted soul. I understand his pain and respect him a lot for how he carried himself to his public. People knew and loved him anyway.
he played those keys like they were light as feathers and just glided over them. Back then I didn't care for his music but I was only 12yrs. old when this was filmed so rock and roll plus getting into listening to country music, but he seemed to be a nice man, then I watched his movie and it told us about the life he had to hide, so sad he can't be here now and feel the freedom we all have now. I'm not gay but have family and friends who are and even my granddaughter. I hear people say gays are all going to hell cause all they think about is dirty stuff and sex but never the real love another person can have for the other person. I know my word says God loves us all and those sitting on pews in their church commit a sin every day and never ask for forgiveness of it and that is judging others, God tells us not to judge each other or we will be judged for the same thing and some of you that make it to Heaven will be shocked to see others there you never thought would make it, think of Gods mercy
The man could play! It's so cool the way he mixed his classical talent with modern music so anyone and everyone could enjoy it. It looks like Laverne's car left an oil puddle in Liberace's driveway. lol. I wonder if it that was supposed to be part of the skit, or just a genuine old leaky car?
Seen one of his concerts in 1977 he was over the top with his white beaded costumes . Aside from Elvis he was mr entertainment ! As for Cher she was made for television what a terrific talent as a trice and singer.
Happy to have seen him perform at the South Shore Music Theater in Cohaset Mass in 1986. He died the following February. Also got to tour the Vegas Museum before it fell apart, he’d be heartbroken.
@@johnbrowneyes7534 some of it is actually getting an official DVD release! Time Life recently released a "Best of Cher" DVD set and it has episodes of her show included. Some segments will most likely be cut from the episodes, but it's better than nothing. It appears that the latest DVD set is selling well, so there's a good chance that another set will be released later on.
I grew up with this charming talented man. Too bad most young people do not appreciate the way music used to be. It was simply put, glorious and entertaining.
can you imagine what the conversation was before Cher came over to film this video every one in the business knew about Liberace -don't worry we will keep it cool -with the butler opening the door -guess who's here Cher-march 2021
I'm a fan of both of these very famous people. Liberace is a one of a kind. A beloved man despite his sexuality. Our sexuality doesn't define nor make us who we are. We do that with our true character. Cher crossed the line a little bit with her liberal politics but after seeing her give her husband Sunny Bonos eulogy, that's all in the past for me. She owes her entire success to him, and she proved that fact. I'll always adore watching both of these entertainers.
The Sonny and Cher Show was one of the very first things I can recall seeing on televison.I was very young when it aired so really my only memory of it is laying on the living room floor and sipping a 7 UP while my Dad watched. Not sure if my Mom was a fan.She tended to not like whatever my watched(Mary Hartman Mary Hartman,Benny Hill, etc)
I just remembered something, in 1965 that year I was 10 and Liberace was on my grandmothers black & white tv 📺. She said, “He is such a sissy and he plays so beautifully.” I didn’t know what she meant, and that was it I never asked her about her comment. My sister was a mean person, she always called me a fairy-boy. Decades later I told my Mom how she said that, funny how SHE knew I was gay, the only person who ever called me a fairy. My younger sister and Mom never suspected my sexuality. As my little sister recently told me before she died, “You are not gay you don’t look or act queer!” The older sister died in 1991 and I came out in ‘95 so she never talked to me about it. I escaped getting AIDS now I can’t leave the house with huge fear of breathing in covid-19 virus and that killing me. Yikes what will become of mankind?
Darling, get a good, strong immune system running :) Keto diet is all about immunity, regeneration and repair....oh, and being young forever. Xx wishing you well for all of your life.
Never worry about any virus it has never been isolated, it is not contageous, the public has been mislead on purpose for their various agendas using covid as a means. And them calling this a pandemic is more fear mongering. It's actually a scamdemic / plandemic. Yes they planned this whole thing all out in October 2019 in a place called Event 201 ( look it up ) and then sprung it onto the unwary public at large in the Spring of 2020. In the following video listen especially to the Health Ranger - Mike Adams, he will talk about how they want to bring down the current population from the current 7 billion to a more manageable to them 500 million world wide. So be wise and do not go along with any of their mandates / rules etc. and share this video with everyone you know .. www.bitchute.com/video/P44aaGau84Hu/
