Love this , my great grandmother was Cherokee. When I was a little boy I was drawn to these old ways , but didn't know how . I tried to learn on my own but didn't get too far until I was a young man and found a book by Jay Massey. Latter , the bowyers bible vol. 1,2,3. Nothing like a bow made the old way , and arrows made from river came . I used turkey feathers for fletching .
I've been making bows since 1994 humbly following the Cherokee style. Black Locust and Ironwood are my favorites, and of course, river cane shafts. I think I'll hunt this year with picked up arrowheads. It's a gift from God just to be able to do these things. Thank you for your wisdom and knowledge that you share.
As a kid I made bows and arrows from the wood I could find. I felt something good from it. Thank you for the things you show us here, Noel! It’s special knowledge.
A lost art, Noel. You are a historian, instructor and a craftsman. I did not know that the Cherokee used blow guns. You have much wisdom from the Creator.
Toda mi admiración para este señor por conservar las tradiciones y la sangre de sus antepasados. Todo mi respeto a los pueblos nativos de Norteamérica. Desde España.
Noel I like what you represent , keeping the old ways alive. I'm a Shawnee descendent and have recently started researching my ancestry. I've been making bows for about 10 years now and just love doing it. It feels natural to me. I've just started making arrows , it's more of an art form to me. Is there another way to contact you , Facebook , Messenger ?
Hey Noel I just discovered your Vids here on the YT. I live in Tulsa and , I'm interested in making bows beyond pcv -type( ie. natural wood etc). Next time I come through Tahl. I'll be very happy to buy you an Arby's if I can pick your brain and hang out awhile LOL.
Does anyone know if Noel sale's some bows he craft? I really wanna buy a cherokee bow, but I'd rather it be from one of us, not someone over sees, or someone with no native blood. I wanna support our people.
@Lauren Grayson My interest level is still high, as it is a dream/wish/bucket list type of thing for me to own and shoot a bow made by a fellow cherokee. Do you know how much your father usually charges?
How do you say YHWH or the Great Spirit in our native tongue? Unesahwahhe? I'd like to know to do studies. Thought about coming home and figuring out how to join the tribe Brother. Had enough and need peace and time with the Spirit if you know what I mean. Been prepping for a great journey. Any help I thank you for.
its ''oo ne tla nv hi '' thats the best i can write it phonetically. get a cherokee syllabury chart and study it. and also you can call the tribal complex and they will answer all your questions about enrollment.
this is not my channel , but yes i do make bows still, when i have the time to commit to them . i plan on having my daughters set up a channel via utube or something like that to go in depth on.
