Hi Ian yes I think they are all along the south coast and their numbers are definitely increasing year by year. A very sporty fish I love them! Thanks as always for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers ian
Thanks for putting the effort in real nice video and I do recall you saying that what ever it is it begins with a. D so congratulations on being the first fisherman to catch a dernard
Hi Malcolm lovely to hear from you!! I should stop trying to guess what’s on the line I was convinced that was a doggie!😂😂 so glad you enjoyed watching it makes the effort worthwhile!!! Cheers ian
very enjoyable ian thanks ,just what i needed after 3 days blanking after carp ,you had a great session ,and the vids are getting towards the 1,hour mark ,ATB les
Well I’ve got to admit it was worth the wait Ian. A great trip and some good tips to go with it. Fantastic session,Chris must be fuming he missed it 😂😂🐟🎣
Hi again mate yes he was disappointed not to come with me but his time will come I’m sure!!! Glad you enjoyed the video makes the effort all worthwhile!!!! Cheers ian
Hello mate lovely to hear from you again! Yes a very friendly (and hungry) fox indeed! I always feel summer is here when the bream are in! So glad you enjoyed the video thanks for watching much appreciated cheers ian
Hi mate yes it’s a fair walk but definitely worth it once you’re past the teeth. As you could tell it got me puffing a lot!😂😂 thanks for watching cheers ian
To fish the Chesil today I'd need a quad bike to get to the favoured hotpots of years ago, dragon's teeth etc. So travel light with gear, food and drink and fish for the unexpected.
No but I do have 60 years fishing experience and that definitely helps I’m sure! Knowledge is key especially for sea fishing I think!! Thanks for your kind words and for watching cheers ian
Hi Mike so glad you enjoyed watching Chesil is a fantastic spot especially when you have the weather too!! A few fish always help!!! Take care mate cheers ian
Wasn’t he /she a lovely friendly fox…. So nice to see!! That period of dusk into dark always gives a chance of a fish or two on Chesil I find! Glad you enjoyed the video thanks again for watching cheers ian
Really enjoyed watching that. I'm in Weymouth, and really should make the effort to do the Chesil walk. I'm nursing a dodgy shoulder, so only really up to a bit of lure fishing. Thanks for posting your trip.
Lest we forget, especially us over 50's, if the shingle is too much energy sapping, there's always Portland bill lighthouse and the cafe and do battle with some big wrasse etc. This is Easy Street, tight lines.
Hi Mat nice to hear from you…. Definitely always worth getting away from the crowds I think!! Hope your shoulder improves soon thanks for watching cheers ian
Hi Frederick yes I love the Bill too but never seem to find the bigger wrasse unfortunately!! PS I’m 64 but must admit the walk gets harder every year!!! Cheers ian
Hi Stephen it was a truly lovely evening for sure!! It’s mainly luck what you get there but chances greatly improved by using a universal bait(rag) and smallish hooks as I alluded to. Sometimes the fish aren’t in front of you but when they are those tactics generally get a fish or two! Thanks as always for watching cheers ian
Nice video. Re hook size... my favorite time year in se kent is sole fishing... small hooks & worm baits, amount of bonus bass, rays, mullet, hounds & multitude of summer species i catch is my cup of tea! Aswell as a few sole for the table 😊
Hi Matthew lovely to hear from you! Totally agree in summer small hooks rule!!! Those kamasan B940 hooks are brilliant for that! Thanks very much for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers ian
Hi Ian Trust you are well, another enjoyable video, bet the Smoothhounds on the Penn Tidal feel good, nice bend in the tip for sure, still waiting to catch my first on the Penn, not for the want of trying, I will succeed to quote a famous song ! ! Nice overall catch list for you, to be sure Regards - go steady
Hi Derek I’m feeling pretty good thanks! Yes the new rods felt lovely with a hound on for sure!! I’m sure your turn will come soon!! Nice to see a few summer species arriving too! As always I really appreciate your support!! Cheers ian
Hi John I use a GoPro on my head for exactly that reason so that you see what I see to hopefully give a pleasant watch!! Thanks again for watching much appreciated cheers ian
Great upload Ian. Always nice to get a mixed bag of quality fish. Hopefully the walk back wasn't too tiring. Best wishes to yourself and Chris, as always Chris from Cornwall 🎣🎣🎣
Hi Chris lovely to hear from you again! Nice to see some summer fish arrive! I was a ball of sweat back at the car but very pleased too!!! Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers ian
A very nice session. Good to see you using the kam b940s hooks. I'm trying another style of hook at the moment. Cox and Rawle scatching match hook. Thanks to Mike of Quality Time Fishing. A nice light hook with great strength and lip hooking abilities. I've had blonde's to 15lb and smoothies to 17lb on them on my boat. Great video Ian. Strange thing about the bream in and around Weymouth Bay is that they have over wintered. They've been caught right the way through the winter.
Hi Andy I will check out that hook too if it’s light but strong… the kamasans are a bit heavy but brilliant in my experience. Interesting about the bream I never know where they go in winter!! Thanks as always for watching cheers ian
Hi ian great to see a vid again cheers. Ive used the old b.9.40 kamasan hooks for donkys aswell. Like your new rods but the last thing you want is the tripod going over lol. Well done on your session. All the best from GRIMSBY.
Hi thanks for watching I would park at Abbotsbury car park past the subtropical gardens and walk as far left as you can manage. Good luck sorry just seen this post hopefully not too late!!! Glad you enjoy the videos cheers ian
another great video ian ,i shall have to spend a few days and nights fishing there as ive never fished chesil before . but tuesdays is my day off of work and i work 3 hours a day 6 days a week early in the morning , i dont know how long it takes to get from west kent to chesil but ill have to work something out im sure. ,as long as there is disabled parking ill be ok.
Lovely to hear from you so glad you enjoyed the video. You would love it ! Definitely fish rag on small hooks and concentrate on dusk and darkness. The best fishing is definitely September and October which is when I would suggest you go. All the summer species are there plus codling too. If mobility is an issue then West Bexington has a car park on the beach easy access.., it’s a mile or so west of Abbotsbury. You can park in abbotsbury car park (past the sun tropical gardens) and take a boardwalk over the shingle to the beach also. Thanks for watching cheers ian
Hello Ian 👋 Really nice to see you back out again buddy a cracking session with the different species. That walk in that heat looked a challenge Ian top class video has always buddy look forward to the next one tight lines buddy 👍 🎣
Hi mate nice to hear from you again I hope you are well!! The walk an absolute killer in that heat but worthwhile in the end! Glad you enjoyed the video take care and thanks for watching cheers ian
Hi Shabir glad you enjoyed the video. A flapper is just 2 or 3 snoods with a hook on straight off your rig body . A quick look on RU-vid will show how to tie them up!!! Cheers ian
Hi Ian planning a trip down (5 hr drive) appreciate advice on best tide and wind direction to aim for thx. great idea with the bike light will give that a go have you a link thx
Hi Byron lovely to hear from you! That’s a long drive! You can fish Chesil any state of the tide just set up above the high tide mark. Pick bigger springs to fish as tidal movement is vital for good fishing. Concentrate on evening and night fishing it’s a struggle in bright sun in daylight. Any wind ok but obviously very strong S or W winds make if difficult. Stick to rag tipped with squid on pulley pennel rigs hooks about size 2 or 1 as a main point of attack. Good luck thanks for watching cheers ian
Hi John I’m no expert at all and rely on a few years of fishing Chesil… as for fit I’m not really just take the walk really really slowly!!! Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers ian
@@ianclarkfishing i think you will find you put the rod on the beach when you got back to your shelter with the fish, you can always use the shelter as a rod rest, i must admit that im going to try the braid for a leader, although not sure how it would work with performance casting, although im getting too old for that now
