Trojs Fishing yeah the weather has been terrible recently no fun in your boat I bet!!! My poor sea legs would not enjoy being on the sea!!!! Cheers Ian
when i seen the vid was 28.mins long i thought o no ,its going to be all about CHRIS winding a fish in , lol. great vid yet again ian getting longer so more enjoyment keep them coming its the nearest i get to chesil looking at your vids ,ATB
troy wales ha ha Chris does take his time winding in doesn’t he!! 😂 glad you enjoyed the extra long video!! Tried to get a lot of action in this one! Cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishing i forgot to ask ,are u still using braid as a shock leader if so what make and breaking strain , im asking because it seems to stand up to chesil
troy wales yes Troy using 90lb braid can’t remember the brand it’s in the garage and it’s pouring down here so I’m not going to look!!!😂 It works really well and hasn’t let me down yet! Cheers Ian
Mark Williams Sea Angling hi mark thanks for watching! Yes I do look forward to my Chesil trips! Whatever you do or don’t catch it’s always lovely being out in the fresh air at such a beautiful venue! Cheers Ian
Hi Ian, just want to say thanks for your uploads. They've kept my mind motivated during a long period of illness with autoimmune Rheumatoid arthritis, I'm sure you & few others I follow have played a big part in giving me the motivation to get up & get out there. Iv uploaded my recent trip to Holland on sea if you'd like to take a look. Looking forward to getting my first cod for many years. Thanks again.
Eddie Edwards ah Eddie thanks so much! I know rheumatoid is horrible and I hope you can get out soon and catch a big cod! I will check out your video! Cheers Ian
Bloody brilliant video mate really enjoyed it. I'm hopefully nearing the tail end of a really REALLY long blank, haven't had a decent fish since September!!! Am thinking about having a go at chesil so great to see action.
Olly Jackson cheers Olly thanks for your kind comments! Chesil fishing well at the moment if you can find a lull after a good blow!! Fresh blow lug tipped with squid should catch plenty with the chance of a good cod too! Hopefully your barren run ends soon!! Tight lines Ian
Chesil is such a great venue, except when its covered with spider crabs! I'm waiting for you guys to grapple some cod out of those murky waters of Berrow! Tight lines.
Mike Tripp ha ha definitely be giving Brean a good going over up to Xmas! Watch this space! The cod in the BC tend to be most prolific November and December but you never know! Cheers Ian
Good to see you’ve put a lot of time in down on Chesil. I’m gonna try and make the trip back down over this cod season. It’s definitely the best shore venue I’ve ever fished!
Iain Bickerstaff ah thanks Iain I hope some of the fun I have fishing comes through on them! After all enjoying yourself is what it’s all about! Cheers Ian
Tony England ha ha I hadn’t noticed that! She is very good on the beach unless you leave the squid unattended in which case it’s down her throat in an instant!!! Cheers Ian
Hi mark in summer I go size 6 or 4 strong Aberdeen type but up the size in winter but don’t see the need to go to 3/0 or more. Most cod are well hooked. Sometimes I will put a bigger hook as top of the pennel and hope a small whiting/pout grabs the bottom one and the cod sucks it all ! That’s the theory anyway 😉
Mark Williams Sea Angling sometimes but the problem is knowing the size of your livebait. But occasionally a big cod has been caught. Usually use size 1 on bottom of pennel and 4/0 on the top. We actually catch better on our local beach at Brean in the Bristol Channel using this as the whiting are much smaller...👍
Ian Clark as you mention Brean, that is somewhere that is on my list for next year. We visited there a couple of years ago and the kids were amazed that we could park on the beach. It looked difficult to fish though.
Mark Williams Sea Angling no it’s really easy except in a strong sw wind and big tide. Check out a couple of my Bristol Channel videos they are all at Brean!
Neale Bradford ha ha Neale! We actually live near Bleadon just south of Bristol do its a good hour and a half trip but always worth it! Your low tide sounds similar to the beach local to me at Brean! Cheers Ian
Derek Jefferson hi Derek yes I overdid it a bit in October but it’s a great month! Just haven’t hooked that substantial cod I hoped for yet!! Fingers crossed it will happen soon! Cheers Ian
The Autistic Angler didn’t he just!!! He couldn’t cast very far but had good bait and lots of perseverance. I was amazed at his Bream .....not what I expected at all! Cheers for watching Ian
Michael Spencer ha ha Michael!! Yes what a sight!!! Chris took a HUGE bag of them him! Not sure I could carry a big frying pan along the beach! Cheers Ian
David Storton Ah David I’m not sure that’s correct but I appreciate the sentiment! 👍👍 But I do enjoy doing them and comments like yours make it all worthwhile! Cheers tight lines Ian
@@ianclarkfishing thanks Ian I've always used a pulley pennel and had no problems with them what so ever but lost my faith in them this year to many tangles and I feel that has cost me some fairly decent fish so I've switched to the up and over making them at different sizes and they have produced the goods
Lee Hale mmm never had tangling issues but use 50lb mono for rig and hooklength so this helps. Using 25lb annesia hooklength occasionally had issues. 50lb mono doesn’t seem to put off the fish and gives good bait presentation as it’s quite stiff I think. Cheers Ian
westonman57 hi thanks for watching! We usually go to Abbotsbury and walk east past the dragons teeth...the further you walk the better the fishing! Cheers Ian
