Three Chevrolet key fob features you might not know about. Remote start, auto folding mirrors, and auto remote windows. Please subscribe and help me reach 1000 subscribers.
Very informative. I just bought my 2018 GMC Sierra SLT last week. Like most, I figured I'd fumble around and find all the bells and whistles. This video cut that time by about two months. GREAT JOB!!
😮 I gotta admit when he talked about the remote start and him being older gentleman I though like really what’s next lock and unlucky your doors? But I really got schooled by him 😂 I had no clue gm trucks did that, and yes as soon as video was over I went outside to try it on my 18 Sierra, good video sir
I believe to do the side mirrors in or out you don't actually have to hit the button twice. Just press the lock/unlock and hold it for an extra second and they'll close/open.
Thanks! I thought auto folding mirrors would fold when I shut the vehicle off, but didn't. Now I know how it works. Gonna try rollong down the windows of my '15 Sierra using the fob now. I'm wondering though if i can stop the windows from going all the way down by releasing the button when the windows are only open a few inches.
On my '18 Silverado LTZ the mirrors fold automatically on shut down, but it is off by default from the factory. You can turn it on in the radio settings.
Great useful video, thank you. I also have a 2016 Silverado LTZ. Can the Key Fob be used to return your memory settings for the seats, mirrors & pedals before you enter the vehicle? Currently mine only return to the settings if I insert my key in the ignition or use the memory buttons 1 or 2 on the door. I know that the key Fob can be used for the easy exit seat setting.
This old boy learned something about his truck, which is nice but, if your truck doesn't have the features nothing will work. I have a 2017 Silverado 2017 LT with a lot of features but not the folding mirrors. I already knew about the remote start and a friend had a Dodge with windows that would go down from commands from his key fob. Now mine do as well but nope, no mirrors.
I have a 2019 Silverado LD. I can get all 4 to go down. Other then getting in the truck and putting all the windows back up with the switches is there a way from the fob to put them all back up
That is correct, you have to roll them up with the inside switches. I believe this feature is so you can roll all your windows down on a hot day to let the truck cool off then you can roll them up for the inside.
When the video started out with the remote start I was thinking to myself great this is going to be obviously stuff in the video. But then I was pleasantly surprised and I did not know about the other features. Not that I have a new or nice enough truck anyway. But, I tried the folding mirrors on my 2005 GMC Sierra, and it did not work :( I didn't look at any settings though but I doubt it does it anyway. But you could totally mess with your passengers by rolling down the windows randomly lol, that would be the best part.
It should work. I know it works on the LTZ and High Country, not totally sure if all LT's have this feature. It don't take but a few seconds to find out.
Jim Evans when you start with the key fob it will run for ten minutes. While it’s running you can hit the lock button again and the start and hold it for 4 sec and it will run an additional 10 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. This works on any Chevrolet with remote start. 2015 and up.
ANITA MCDANIEL this will only work on 2015 and later models. The 2015 LT I had would not fold the mirrors in. If it doesn’t have the button inside they are not power mirrors.
okay rgman2858...i also have an LT, but it has to be listed on the "settings" screen to turn it on, I thought I checked that and it was not listed on mine. But I will check again. thanks
thelanterns no problem. I didn't see the option on my settings screen, it just did it since day 1 for me..can't find how to even turn it off..hopefully yours works for you
If your in a car wash, it would be easier to push the button in the vehicle, rather than the remote. Maybe you should roll down the windows in the car wash!
Now if you could tell me how to magically fix my air conditioner that stopped working on my 2018 brand new silverado that'd be cool. God I hope I didn't get a lemon, first chevy I ever bought too.
Damn near fell of my chair laughing! Chevrolet owners are amazed over little things that Ford has had on the F 150 for many years. Show us the push button start dude. Oh yeah I forgot, we still use a key!!! LMAO
In Jesus Name I Pray Amen Ford has step built into the tailgate which is way easier to use than the stupid bumper steps and they have an easy drop tailgate from the key fob
theman68and1 it took them how many years to make a soft drop tailgate? You really think pulling out that ridiculous ladder and setting that up then putting it back in the tailgate is easier than simply putting your foot into a step in the bumper, really?
Hose A. What is so technologically advanced about push button start? My wifes car has it and my truck uses a key and I dont find any advantages to either! If the battery dies in both of my fobs at least I can open the door on my truck with my key and since my wifes car has no key slot she would be screwed!
@@donaldroehrig7817 I could not set windows to role up and down using remote. My settings go to door lock and unlock settings only. I don’t have that center control panel as you have showed. I only have buttons on the left side of dashboard. I have a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab Texas Edition.
You don't have to hit the lock button twice to fold the mirrors. You can push and hold it once and it'll fold them in. If you hold the Unlock button, you can fold them back out too, hold it a little longer after the mirrors fold out and the windows will go down.. It also only works on trucks with the power fold feature. Your W/T's and LS's and some LT's (And GMC equivalents) won't do that.
Actually plot twist. Mine doesn't not have that option in the MyLink system. I could have sworn the sales guy showed it to me when I bought my car a few years back. There were a few ECU updates since and could possible wiped that option. I'll keep digging around.
