Originally, the blower motor didn't work at all. Replaced the blower motor (which I also have a video on), and then the blower motor worked, but wouldn't turn off lol. Replaced resistor and that cured the on/off issue. They tend to fail together.

Hey I’ve been through the comments. I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu and my HVAC module is dead. No power, nothing is lighting up, no air no heat. I’ve checked and swapped the fuses. All good except for 10A(HVAC CTRL (ignition) and 20A (HVAC BLOWER) fuses aren’t lighting up. They are new fuses. I checked the wire that powers the HVAC and its good (has power flow). So I’m guessing it is either a bad relay or i have to change out the BCM. What do you think? Do you also know where the HVAC relay is located?
@TonyTheTruckGuy
@TonyTheTruckGuy 10 месяцев назад
Just looking up a wiring diagram quick here and yeah it shoes that the HVAC controller you say not lighting up should have a 10A HVAC BATTERY circuit control fuse which is SAYS is a red wire with white stripe going to pin #8 on the X2 connector at the HVAC controller and that should have ~12V all the time. It also lists an HVAC control IGNITION fuse which is also a 10A which SAYS it's a brown wire going to pin #7 on the X2 connector which should have ~12V with the ignition on. There's also a "run relay" that should be labelled in one of the fuse boxes, you may want to swap that with a sister relay. Check that and let me know what you find and we can go from there!
@dalrishardin9993
@dalrishardin9993 10 месяцев назад
@@TonyTheTruckGuy I’ve been reading into and seen a video. There is power at both fuses and the power wire (the red and black wire). The relays and fuses are good. In the video he says since its getting power flow from both ends and its still not working, the fault is with the BCM and that it should be swapped out. I’ll do further testing to make sure. And thank you so much. No forum was helping me.

@TonyTheTruckGuy

I have a blower motor replacement video on this car as well I'll post down below. You'll see the blower motor connector with 2 pins in it at the 1:25 mark. Get a cheap multimeter from the hardware or parts store if you don't already have one and set it to volts. Turn the car ignition on and turn the blower knob on high. Then touch 1 of the leads from the multimeter to 1 of the pins at the blower motor connector, and the other lead on the multimeter to the other pin of the blower motor connector. If you're getting about 12 volts or more, the motor itself is likely bad. If you're not getting good voltage, flip the blower knob to a different speed and check the voltage again. If you still don't have good voltage, it could be the resistor, the switch, or wiring. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EXcLp-Zmdik.html

@TonyTheTruckGuy

Never a bad idea to disconnect the battery when doing anything electrical, but as long as you’re not jamming random metal objects into the power pin for the resistor then you should be good 🤣 I’d just make sure the ignition is off

Probably the fan speed switch at that point if I had to guess without doing any physical diagnostics. I’m not sure if you can replace just the switch or if you gotta buy the whole climate control assembly

I just had a problem with my wifes 2012 Malibu and this is the first video I came across. Its really cold here today -5 to -15 F before wind chill and her blower is working but only when she turns the fan speed to 3 and 4...1 & 2 no longer work so I know the blower is fine. Does this sound like a resistor problem? Im not going to mess with it until it gets nicer out or if the blower stops completely ....thanks. Nice video and straight forward

Hi mine blow air in the front of the window but the front vents don’t blow air when switch to a different setting what can that be ?
@TonyTheTruckGuy
@TonyTheTruckGuy 11 месяцев назад
Could be several things but the most likely causes would be either the mode switch itself (the switch that changes where air comes out of the dash), a failed blend door actuator, or a broken/stuck blend door.

Could be either, you’d have to do some actual testing without just throwing parts at it. I have another video changing the motor itself on this same car. They seem to go hand in hand pretty commonly.

@@TonyTheTruckGuy I did call them again to see if they would maybe order another part but he pretend he forgot to order so it was a on and on story. It has been a month now so I decided to go somewhere else and when I told them what I paid for the part they couldn't believe that cheap. And also they did check it and found out its the wrong resipitor and the wiring was wrong too. So I will be going back to this place and they have to order the right part which is a little more money , but at least it will be right. I had dealt with the other company for awhile for minor fixing now and then but have known them for years. The son put the part in and I feel instead of going to the father to correct behind him ( which he do and didn't) he wanted him to believe it was right but it wasn't. The other place I am going said I needed to go back and they should repair it for free but like I told him I don't want them to touch it now and I feel sad but I'm not mad and I didn't tell the other place the name of the company because I don't feel that would be right, I believe in doing the right thing and know that in the end that the next person they deal with won't be as kind as I have been, you live and you learn.

@TonyTheTruckGuy
@TonyTheTruckGuy Год назад
@@bluedevilg3542 The resistor should only control the blower motor, so if the climate control isn't working at all, I'd suspect something else. If all fuses are for sure good, make sure there's not a second fuse box somewhere, and make sure to check if there's any relays for the HVAC. Might be worth swapping with another relay if you find one labelled HVAC. Other than that, it would have to be the HVAC controller itself, or some sort of other module/wiring.

My 2012 chevy malibu had it's blower motor fail in October 2023. I got it fixed november for $233. Well this July 2024 it failed again and I took it back to the mechanic. Now I got a warranty on the motor but now he says the resistor and wires are messed up and caused the blower to short. Total cost now, $350!! I'm taking it to another mechanic for 2nd opinion and price but if they're both expensive, might do it all myself. This is now the 2nd time this malibu motor ceased. Ugh.
