Chevy Purge Solenoid Fix - P0445

Here is how I replaced my EVAP purge solenoid valve after getting a P0445 (and tighten fuel cap) OBD-II error code on my Chevy Tahoe. This procedure will be similar for other Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac trucks and SUVs like the Silverado, avalanche, sierra, Yukon, escalade, express and otheres.

Nice catch. I actually had both at one point. Before shooting this vide I had rest the computer to see if the problem would go away. When it came back I didn't realize the only code thrown the second time was the P0455 which is what my scan tool showed in the video (dyslexia I guess). Either way, what did here cleared the issue and it hasn't come back.

Great video. I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic Body small V-8. The only problem that I had was that clip. I had to use a pair of pliers to get the hose up.

Did you just see a code or was there a problem /symtom etc such as when filling gas tank the fuel hoes shut off happening and making it difficult /time consuming to fill the gas tank ? I read that same P0455 is associated with this problem and related to plugged up EVAP filter under the truck

If you give the rubber o ring a quick shot of carb clean or brake clean, it will make it easier to get the valve to seat if you do so before it evaporates.

Using carb or brake cleaner on rubber isn't a good idea...a very small amount of oil might be a better choice if you need to use something to help

my code keeps coming back ive change the one by the gas tank and the one on the front. dont know what to do anymore

This guy got lucky its not always your purge valve. P0455 meAns you have a large leak in evap system if youv changed your purge valve, evap vent solenoid, your gas cap. Then take your car to a mechanic to get diagnosed. Theyll run proper test and if need be, put a smoke machine on your car to find the leak

I just replaced my Purge valve on my 2004 Silverado 1500 how long did you have to drive to get the check engine light shut off

I think I reset mine then it took like 100 or so miles for everything to come back online

@@SevenFortyOne I ended up putting my old one back in . I blew through it and there is no.airflow so I'm thinking it might not even be my problem I took the evap hose off of the charcoal filter and a few tiny rocks came out so im hoping that was my problem.
