Thank you this was very helpfull. I smiled when you broke the Power Probe out. That is the best money I’ve ever spent on a tool for the CUCV. Give me a PowerPribd & a comfortable spot to work & I was happier than a pig in ship. I like building harnesses so I’m slowly taking the old chevy wiring out & updating to better connectors & I get so excited yo see the truck electrical waking up & working properly.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!! 63W Army mechanic here, had many CUCV’s on active duty and fell in love with them. I was wrecker recovery with a few M1031’s M1028’s M1028A2’s M1008’s M1009’s was with the 173rd Airborne rigged them with chutes and pushed em out of planes. I currently have a 84 M1009 and a M1031 contact maintenance truck, such durable trucks you can’t kill em. Such a good video you have made very knowledgeable you are and in explaining the wiring too. People ask me a lot about them and when I tell them that the truck is both 12V and 24V they are dumb founded cause they always have assumed they were completely 24V. I will direct them to your channel now so they can get a better understanding of the CUCV fleet of trucks. And again such an OUTSTANDING video! 🫡🇺🇸
I prefer Appendix E of ..-289-34. ;) I guess delta-wye transform node analysis is a bit over the top for most CUCV wrench spinners. Suffice to say, two points connected with a wire have same voltage. Now, on bad contacts..I recently discovered such a contact as it was very warm. Not enough to burn, about 10 amps at 12 volts. Yes, on my CUCV. The SECM governor power relay. Easiest fix ever.
With no resistor only the front battery is powering the glow plugs. Here is a video I did about the worse case scenario for no resistor when it happened to me: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xZaQrRiRUbI.htmlsi=QCuTSDDBldLdWTwY
My truck is weird, the headlights, tail lights, brake lights and right blinker work however the hazards the left blinker do not. I’m thinking it’s a ground? I’m going to take it to a shop next week
The blinkers and hazards use the same bulbs and wires as the brake lights. The brake lights actually go through the blinker system. I think the blinker assembly on the steering column behind the steering wheel might be a good place to start.
@@timsteachablemoments1786 thank you Tim, I could tell you were a great soul from the first video💪🏽it would be a pleasure to meet if I ever end up at one of the rally’s down south one of these days. -Joe
Say!. The same thing happened to my M-1009!, and now half of the charging system doesn't work!. Both the Gen1 and Gen2 lights turn on but when the truck starts the Gen1 lamp says on?. Both alternators are new?. The rear battery is charging 14+!. But the front battery nothing!. Any ideas?. Please let me know if you can figure it out!.
Have you by chance access to the -20 Technical Manual? There is a 70 page electrical trouble shooting section in there that walks you through it. My suggestion is you check the white 2 wire plug on the side of the drivers alternator. They have a tendency to deform and not allow contact. I think I have replaced all of mine at least once. Jatonka.com and steel soldiers.com have the TM’s for free. Steel soldiers has this topic being discussed just about weekly as well.
