@@daiviontaylorResurrection of a long ago post. I have a 14' in phantom black metallic and sometimes wish I had a 15' or later for the mag ride. Is it that problematic?
It is very disappointing that General Motors no longer manufactures the Chevrolet SS and the Pontiac G8. GM pulled the plug on manufacturing cars in Australia through Holden because it costs too much to build it. Both cars were based on the Holden Commodore VE/VF. They were such great cars.
Joey Brooks No, it’s disappointing that they made this bullshit instead of an Impala SS, and a new Monte Carlo SS. This shit should have died years ago
If You think this thing is disapointing get used to the 2018 opel insignia made in germany and sent to the usa as a buick something that replaces the commodore platform..
This was excellent man! I love seeing the comparison between different years of the same model. Lots of people don't know about this car. A best kept secret! A straight monster! Kudos to you and your wife.... keep it together!!
They changed a lot. Mrc came in 2015. Front fascia changed, hood vents 16, aux port delete 16, android play, bi modal exhaust in 2016, 2014 has 2 piston rear non brembo. 4 piston in the front. 15 and 16 is the same, but 15 has silver calipers while 16 has red. Rear diffuser was painted in 15 and not 14. Quad exhaust in rear 16 and 17 only. Suspension has been tuned in 16 from 15. 16 is softer than 15. 16 and 17 are very similar. Under hood, the air tube has been punched into firewall for more sound from the engine for 16 17. Btw, i have a 2015 heron white a6. Nice cars you two! Welcome to the club. Also wheels changed too.
Amazing car brother ! Rented that exact same thing 6 months ago in Melbourne Australia , Holden commodore SS. Amazing car with amazing sound and balance .
I had the 2012 SS IMPALA PPV ,Was a detectives car was in show room condition .kick my ass when I see a video like yours ,my final thoughts on this will buy a 2017 Impala SS when I find one in as Showroom condition.Great video thanks again LA ALABAMA JJMBUNNY JAMMING
I wish I had a His and Hers SS sitting in my driveway. In Australia, I have a Holden SS-V Redline VF Series II 2017 edition - similar to your 2016 SS but not quite. I have summarised these key differences between the two models - I hope I have not bored you: -- They've added a mechanical sound enhancer, a plastic tube running off the intake to the firewall which helps pipe the induction noise into the cabin. -- The twin exhaust is actually a bi-modal exhaust with a flap that pops open to let the gases run straight through the muffler, and there's also a hole in the exhaust tip, called the Bailey Tip after its late inventor, that helps direct some of the noise flow back toward the car and into the rear seat of the cabin. Ever sat in the rear seat? Try it out and let someone else drive... -- They redesigned the front bumper which has a wider intake to feed more air into the engine bay and the vents on the trailing edge of the bonnet are there to allow hot air to escape easier. -- The highly technical outer sections of the bumper also feature functional intakes that direct air flow through to the inside of the wheel arches to lower its wind resistance. There, that's as technical as I can get. I have extracted some of the above information from various websites. My channel is hopefully coming soon.
Great video on two great cars. It is really cool to see a couple of Aussie made cars in the one family. I do like the 2016 Chevrolet SS better as it has the MRC. Down here in Australia it is only the HSV GTS or the HSV Senator that have the MRC. The last ( Holden Special Vehicles ) HSV GTS -R W1 has the LS9 from the Corvette Z06.
You didn’t mention that the 2017 has additional safety technology. I don’t recall what all of them are, but lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alerts are some of them. There also have been yearly upgrades, as well. I think larger sway bars are among those. I don’t know if the ‘14 car has an exhaust bypass. Nice job, guys.
Props goes out to you both I like those Chevy SS I wish they would come out with a new one bring them back well God bless you brother and be blessed 🙏🏾👊🏾
With the magnetic ride, I have a question, do you keep yours in sport, or is tour mode still pretty stiff. I've heard on other videos people think it was too floaty. Also the exhaust system on the 16-17 is the same as the Camaro. The 14s still used the old G8 pipes because they were really trying for a stealth approach. My G8 GT still has the stock exhaust, and you can't hear nothing when you rev it up
Glad you Americans can own a good Australian Musclecar - Holden Commodore SS. Ive got a 2016 Holden Caprice - same LS3 powered car but with a bit longer wheelbase. Great Video, thanks for showing!!
Omg. And what a lovely couple. I like both of the cars but Where i am i have the commodore ssv redline witch is the same kind of thing. Oh ! Mine is white and i love it. I hope you get lots of happy miles as i am. Thank you xx.
The magmatic ride stiffens your suspension so you can go around corners more efficiently while are high rates of speed. ... test it out on some softies compared to the magnetic ride you dont like... that will change.
I had a black ‘15 manual, then a white ‘17 auto and just sold that and bought a ‘17 Slipstream manual. A couple of other small differences you forgot to mention is the ‘14 and ‘15 had an audio jack in the center console and an in dash CD player and on the ‘16 and ‘17 they were deleted. Also the heads up display doesn’t have the same options as the first two years. Just some added info. Nice cars.
I am so glad I saw this vid, theirs a 2014 near me I was thinking about getting but I would rather get the 16 or 17 got the MagRide and rear brake Brembo calipers, better resale value
With GM pulling the plug on Holden here in Australia. What you have is the last generation of Aussie muscle. Look after them and their value will slowly rise. It's already started to here & there are heaps on the road. In the states, where they are a little rarer. The price will eventually skyrocket. Might not help you much. But in 20yrs, it'll give your kids a big piece of a mortgage. Nice vid mate. =D
There are 4 modes. Track mode is a double tap on the TC button. And you should hear it with a Whipple supercharger. Mine is a 2016 with a manual. And a Whipple. And it comes with an engine cover. Which I really don't like. I also don't like the intake resonator. All of which has been fixed on mine. In anything but touring mode, the 2016 feels stiffer than the 2014. But it is quite comfortable in touring mode. Also, the factory Bridgestone RE050 are horrible, stiff, slippery, and loud. A set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires sorts all that out.
I like em both, but black is my fav cuz the different settings with the exhaust n suspension. I like you both got the matchin whips tho (whip game proper). Big ups you two. 👍
Both are beautiful, I would prefer the black one. Especially because it has MAG ride. I mean... I know your girl prefers a little softer suspension but GM mag ride is almost the best in the business. The Cadillac V’s use MAG ride as well, it allows them to really keep the heavy vehicle compliant. Nice rides 👍
You are right about not hearing engine much from the inside. I have the 2014 Red Hot, and I love it. I want to make some changes after watching your video. I want to hea more of engine from the inside. Any suggestions? Thanks
Nice to see these Aussie Holden Commodores finally being appreaciated in the US, even if they do carry Chevy badges. Also, the 2014 model has a 6 liter V8, and the 2016 model has a 6.2 Litre V8, and that's why the fuel economy in the black one isn't as good as the white one... but anyway, enjoy. I drive the 2010 version with the 6 liter v8, tuned a bit for 500bhp. Greetings from Melbourne Australia
Honestly I don’t see many of these SS on the streets but would love to own one just because of how it looks and sounds, sucks that there’s only one on the web to look at
Might be Americas choice but they were made in Australia. Just a shame your American choice pulled the pin on the Australian branch of the company as from what I've seen coming out of America the australia made cars are a much better car.
Very nice video...love the comparison..and the smack talk by the gal in this...I"m a little biased cause I have a 14 (bought it new) and starting a total project to make it the fastest road course SS in Chicago. It's black..but gotta be honest her white SS looks bad to the bone.
Lovely cars; unfortunately the didn't sell very well; only about 3000 of these were sold per year and hence the reason to stop selling them. The late models of course were fully imported from Australia and are loaded with all the extras built into the car. Poor promotion of the car led to its demise; Many members of the public didn't even know this car existed which is a shame as it rates as one of the best vehicles in its class. Thanks for the vid. 2 beautiful cars indeed. I wouldn't mind which one I had.
John Robinson I’m glad that they did not sell that much ... We have ours since they’re so rare it makes it a collectible car ... which is going to make it a rare car in your future 👍🏾💯💪🏾
I hope you still have them both as here in Australia they are just going up & up in price because Holden has close down now. We miss our Holdens. Take care of those baby's, 🇦🇺👍
Luckys Wheelz N Dealz yeah they got rid of that too with VF2. Not such a bad thing because I thought it could have got activated out with a child in the back then kicked downwards, especially if your carrying boys that fight each other in the backseat.
I have the 2017 Holden SS Redline in the white all the silver blacked out same as the badges/Rims side mirrors/Roof and spoiler on the boot lid blackedout, Walkinshaw Brakes and Walkinshaw 547 Supercharger.
Its an Aussie Commodore. Made in my home city of Adelaide. South Australia. Just up the road. I believe the commodore name is still in the dash. Under the cloth insert.
Yea, yo what what up Fam! Both, Cars are Dope!! I just subscribed to your guys channel ! But, small question fam! "What do you use to Keep that Avalanche Plastic 😆 " but 4real is it cool if you guys share with me how you keep that Plastic nice and shiny! Dope ass car, the white one sounds 🔥! Black Stally is Wicked! 👍!
I have the 2017 it looks exactly like your 2016, which looks way better with the magnetic ride, the Brembo's, the color coordinated rear lower panel makes the 16, and 17 better., except she has the cd player correct?
I think the white style is Better my brother but the black one hood is better I like that. And I like the silver calibers better. Honestly I like the white one. And the back of the white one I like the avalanche plastic and I like those 2011 Camaro wheels on the white one. All around the white and the black one has to much chrome on it. And the white has better gas mileage. Just my opinion
