Finally, we were able to line up for the 2021 Chicago Marathon. The weather was unusually humid with a hot wind. It wasn’t ideal race conditions, and it wasn’t going to be a PR kind of day. But letting go of all the pressure to perform made for one of the most rewarding Chicago Marathons I’ve ever run. I met new friends on the course. And I saw old friends along it. For me, this year’s Chicago Marathon was a homecoming and a housewarming party, all rolled into one.

After running 26.2 miles (42 kms) and entering the city of Athens, the Greek soldier Pheidippides screamed “Nike, Nike, Nike” to announce the outcome of the "Battle of Marathon" and collapsed and died. Pheidippides ran bare foot and 26.2 mile running took toll on his body. On his foot he had blisters, laceration and blood clot under the toe nails. But his screaming the word "Nike, Nike" was not for Nike Shoes. "Nike" is the Greek word for "Victory". Lets celebrate the Victory at the "Battle of Marathon", Greece. Salute you the Brave Heart, Pheidippides !!! Congratulations Kofuzi !! Amazing time !!!

Thanks Kofusi, I really enjoyed that video. I've been sick all year and had my gallbladder removed a week and a half ago. I'm planning to run the Hobart Marathon in January, but was struggling to convince my self that I can do it, my 12 week program starts next week and I'm still sore from the operation, but my son and I watched Chicago on Flotrack and watching this video has given me the extra motivation to start. I am running again already, but just easier and moderate length runs, it will be a big step up next week. Great video and great effort given the conditions.

Awesome video as always! I started just in front of you right behind 3:05 pacers. My goal during this training block was to break 3 since I just came off of my spring marathon block with a 3:02:14 at Grandma’s, but obviously the weather for Chicago had different plans. The heat and humidity Sunday was definitely nearing threshold of marathon running conditions and I think the overcast sky made the heat sneak up on a lot of runners. I knew I was in for trouble when my sweating essentially disappeared shortly after midway point and it became a matter of just hanging on. Slogged it on in for 3:09:58 finish and shortly after experienced about an hour or so of the worst cramping I’ve ever experienced throughout my entire body (calves, hamstrings, even upper back). That’s the curveball of marathon running though.......so much energy and months of training for just hoping Mother Nature cooperates for race day. Still wouldn’t trade the experience for anything and a bit of recovery time, then on to (hopefully)🤞Boston 2022 training block if my time from Grandma’s gets me in

Mike - Wow! I haven’t had a running video move me to tears before….. Well done that was epic, very very good 👍 (I just ran London Marathon and even though slower I know those feelings in those last miles now)

An excellent video...I ran the Chicago marathon too. It wasn't my day, started with diaphragm cramps from the beginning all the way to the end of the race...I even thought at some point that I wouldn't be able to finish it...but of course I finished. Congratulations!!!

Congratulation! Thank you for inspiring us runners. Explaining/showing what we feel. Motivating us to keep on going. Your humbleness, dedication and kindness shows what's really important. Greetings Ferry
