Childfree Men And Women: Our Differences And Similarities 

As a man i don't get much backlash for being childfree, but i have defended a few women that people attempt to bully because of their decision to be childfree.

You are right men don't get criticized for being childfree as much as women do

I'm glad people like seth Rogen and Christopher lloyd and dave franco openly spoke up about why they decided to be childfree because it shows that not all men want to have children both have created their own legacy you don't need children to do that

Childfree individuals do spend more time at work, but fathers do that as well. In fact, they tend to spend more time at work after they have children, just so that they don't have to spend time with their children.

I 100% am “scared” to have children, and it is because of “weak” men that I have chosen in the past. Those “weak” men cheated on me and hurt me in ways that made it impossible to trust them/us with children. And now I’m “scared” to have kids because I don’t want them to be raised by parents who aren’t a good couple first and foremost- and have issues because of it. I don’t want to feel trapped.. Yes “choose a better partner” “take accountability”- I try my best- and yet I fail. I’m not going to risk having children now- because with my track record in choosing “weak” men- I am “scared” that I will fail. Maybe in another life.

i think another thing childfree men and woman share is the belief from the outside that we are all immature. that we refuse to grow up or be an adult. of course some of us might be more of a child at heart i know i am, yet I'm still a 35yr old woman... we are breaking so many stereotypes of what an 'adult' should look like.

So one thing i think both men and women face is how being childfree makes ppl think they have permission to constantly comment on your personal life and tell us whats best for us. Constant need to defend ourselves and be on edge cause you never know when it arises. Theres also this silent understanding ok you are childfree we will allow it but you must not be vocal you must assume an inferior place in society and accept this. I see alot of comments ppl say how being childfree is this and that some are over the top. I would never tell someone hey your stupid for hsving kids, its just mean and wrong but we deal w it all the time its like we have to accept cruelty from others. I do think the pressure is greater on women though

I first got a lot of pushback from my family 20 years ago when I told them that I was wanting to be single and not have children. They said that it was abnormal not to do those things but now they respect my decisions. Another thing society will say is "Oh, you're missing out!" In reality, they are missing out on sleep, money and freedom which they lose by having children.

Thank you for mentioning the whole 'legacy' issue. There is a societal narrative I've heard friends/family repeat. That a man needs to 'pass on his name' else he's not really a man until he achieves that. It's a toxic way of thinking.

I have lots of respect for child-free men its attractive when a man doesn't want babies,, only speaking for myself but when a man says he wants babies and children it's a total turnoff but the real question is and what I want to dissect is pro-life men The mindset of men who will never have to worry about getting pregnant but are against women choosing whether or not they want a fetus demon why are these men against the woman and favor the fetus demon over the woman?? I'm suspicious about pro-life men.........

As a 43 year old man and child free I do get backlash from society and especially women .calling names , its my choice not to bring child In this chaotic world.

I find myself frequently having to scream women are potential mothers but that there's nothing about being a mom that is essential to being a woman and that childfree women are people and women too.

It boils down in the cultural zeitgeist like this I figure: Childfree woman = a gatekeeper of procreation not "gatekeeping" but "stonewalling" the act of procreation = at least one less future person = smaller population in future = all the schemes and plans for the future that hinged on the next generation always being exponentially bigger than the last being hindered if not straight up made obsolete = all the persons and entities with immediate stake in such schemes and plans feeling cheated = the core of society rocked as the schemers and planners selfishly compensate to preserve themselves and theirs. Where as childfree men = a man who was probably found wanting in someway by the gatekeepers and therefore was barred from procreation = a man worthy of only scorn and/or pity by society at large before consequently being totally ignored and disregarded. It harkens somewhat to why "virgin" and "incel" are such long standing go-to insults and jabs used for men and not so much for women.

NEXT MORNING, married, Mathew and Estella, now deceased, were working professionals in Columbia MD, never had children.

I`ve been lucky since I never experienced pressure to have kids.. maybe because my sibling already got one and when told to my mother I never have any she took it well said " it is your choice" but cant say the same from other people around me so never brought up the subject in public. Best is if you kinda " hide your happy" dont tell anyone! it is none of their business anyways x) value your mental peace! I dont think its not worth it to have kids in this economy. Times has changed from how world was for boomers: messed up economy, health care fucked up, cost of living rising, wages cant keep up and people has less jobs available and these days you need education for every single job before everyone got a job even people who were homeless and 0 education.. they were taught!!! these days? lol companies wont train you they say cost too much money and time!! also if you have kids now you also sacrifice your life, literally: you spend everything on kid, you hardly have any money to invest to secure yourself when youre old. There is no guarantee your kids will help you either. Imagine if they get amazing opportunity on other country and they move... what youre gonna do then? Id rather start investing while I am still young and use the money on me + teach my sibling`s kid how to invest and tell: START YOUNG dont wait. so unable to create wealth if you have kids, fucked up health care system that let people die ( there were one case here where kid died because of wrong diagnosis and doctor refused to treat her... told " take painkiller and go home " even tho kid were crying from pain... wonderful! ) why I would want to deal with shitty health care, shitty schools that are not giving good education enough to prepare them work life? they will graduate to become another jobless generation. Hell no I will put my child through that!! if they want children they need to fix our economy entirely until then I show middle finger and say: f* you governments... you know what you were doing and you asked for this!
